Re: [Bug 571707] Re: fsck progress stalls at boot, plymouthd/mountall eats CPU
I've been at a conference and only had time last night to look at the patched binaries. I installed the patched mountall, but both libplymouth and plymouth i386 binaries that I got were faulty (looking inside the packages, the two executables were only 20 bytes). Taking a fresh download got the same thing. Out of curiosity, I forced fsck on boot, and was surprised that it worked OK. [Bug 576511] Re: ACPI causes computer to hang when connected to network
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: I am using Ubuntu 10.4 (but the problem probably exists since 7.10 at least). I use a broadband modem to connect to the Internet, to which my computer is connected via an ethernet (RJ45) cable. Steps to reproduce : 1. Unplug ethernet cable from computer ; 2. Turn computer on ; 3. Boot ubuntu (2.6.32-21-generic) with acpi support enabled (ie. not explicitly disabled) ; 4. When logged in, plug ethernet cable into computer. Result : the network-manager icon starts animating (to indicate activity), and the computer hangs after less than 1 second ; there is no response to any stimulus (except hard poweroff). [Bug 410407] Re: Clicking on items in Flash player does nothing [READ DESCRIPTION]
I am the Chromium developer who fixed this again. Not that anyone cares anymore, but: the problem was that Flash breaks if GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS isn't set. The first fix was to set that in our plugin process before starting Flash. However, GTK clears the environment variable after initializing. So with nspluginwrapper we would set the variable, initialize GTK, and then call into the plugin (nspluginwrapper), which would then spawn its helper process which then would run Flash without the variable set. So as of today's release of Chrome we set the variable, initialize GTK, and then immediately set the variable again before calling into the plugin. It seems Firefox may have this second bug as well. http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=15232 If I remember tomorrow I will attempt to track down that bug in their bug tracker again. ** Bug watch added: defect.opensolaris.org/bz/ #15232 http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=15232 -- Clicking on items in Flash player does nothing [READ DESCRIPTION] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410407 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 476817] Re: [i855] [i855] [karmic] X freezes with intel 855GM videocard
I can also confirm that the ppa kernel works for me in Lucid, while without it I can't boot my old laptop. One minor glitch, I'm sometimes seeing a black square over the Xv video (e.g. on totem but not on vlc), covering all of the video. In totem, when I open a menu and close it, that black square goes where the menu was. And when I switch to fullscreen it goes away so I can see the video normally. [Bug 570589] Re: Lucid: Overheating due to no PM for ATI KMS
I definitely agree with Richard - I'd also rate this bug highly important, especially with the fact in mind that for ATI cards the xserver-xorg-video-ati driver is used by default on a fresh installation (correct me if I am wrong here). Also consider this might perhaps lead to increasing reports about dying video cards and eventually to bad publicity for the entire distribution. I might be a bit too concerned here, but I wonder how long a card may actually survive when permanently running on temperatures around 80°C (when idle, that is). Due to fglrx not supporting KMS and introducing a severe memory leak with compositing enabled, I switched back to the free driver just yesterday, but chose to revert that, as I am heavily concerned about the lifetime of my video card (HD4350, passive / heatsink) when using the free driver with the temperature being significantly (!) higher. -- Lucid: Overheating due to no PM for ATI KMS https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/570589 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

we did see it again in karmic, with newest karmic kernel. see the apport message before. Hi James, The warning reported here typically indicates that it took longer for your system to resume from suspend than expected. I believe there is a 5 sec barrier which your system likely exceeded. Based on your dmesg output I see PM: resume devices took 17.420 seconds. I'm setting this to traiged for further investigation. Thanks! [This is an automated message. [Bug 505494] Re: Mouse events fail frequently and unpredictably, requiring kwin restart
@ Patrick Dawkins Yes, after trying around I found out the same thing! For example, when I click on the App Launcher in the taskbar, the mouse will not actually work in the applauncher unless I right-click on the symbol or anywhere in the taskbar again.. Quite annoying! [Bug 574157] Re: Right click on graph'ed obj locks ddd/Ubuntu
FYI, I think this is upstream bug http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?28247 However, I can't add that as a bug watch to Launchpad, since Launchpad doesn't know about the ddd upstream project. FYI, a partial workaround is to left double-click on items you want to expand. This appears to do what right-click "Display" would do. However, that doesn't allow access to all the other actions that are on the right-click menu. ** Bug watch added: GNU Savannah Bug Tracker #28247 http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?28247 -- Right click on graph'ed obj locks ddd/Ubuntu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574157 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 362359] Re: Focus gets stuck to a window - impossible to select other windows
petter wahlman (comment #44), I suspect your bug is different; with ddd, there's a very specific and reproducible way to make this happen. That issue is covered by bug 574157. My quick reading of the rest of this bug is that it's something that happens randomly to people whilst not doing anything specific and/or repeatable. -- Focus gets stuck to a window - impossible to select other windows https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/362359 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 574157] Re: Right click on graph'ed obj locks ddd/Ubuntu
I'm affected by this too. Just to be explicit, here are repro steps: g++ -ggdb -Wall -Werror -o bug1 bug1.cpp # I'll attach that in a second ddd ./bug1 View Menu -> ensure" Data Window" is checked b alter_list r # wait for breakpoint to be hit In ddd source window, right-click on the "list" parameter to function alter_list(), and select "Display list" Now, go to the data window, right-click on the graphic view of "list". ddd will hang, and mouse will be grabbed into the data window.
