[Bug 949685] Re: When running processes a process regularly gets stuck and does not complete
I modified the script a bit so that it's easier to reproduce the problem. Now I can always reproduce it, sometimes on the first few loops, sometimes on the 150th process spawned. May I also note that there seems to be another bug in twisted which makes gtk/reactor programs hang on exit, so Ctrl+\ is needed to terminate the script. That doesn't happen on Debian testing with the same python-twisted-core version, so maybe the problem is in debian/patches/00_gi_gtk3reactor.patch. ** Attachment added: "scriptchecker-twisted.py" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/twisted/+bug/949685/+attachment/2833029/+files/scriptchecker-twisted.py -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/949685 Title: When running processes a process regularly gets stuck and does not complete To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/twisted/+bug/949685/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 844044] Re: Unity Greeter - Add Network Login option
I've added a "greeter-show-manual-login" option to lightdm 1.1.7 so a system administrator can indicate to the the greeter that it should always show a manual username option. In the branch lp:~robert-ancell /unity-greeter/bug-844044 I've proposed support for this in Unity Greeter which would have the default install show as in the screenshot below. However, this does not solve this request of this bug. The request is to add a specific "Network" option. There are two issues with this currently: a) We cannot tell what the system administrator has configured PAM to do, thus we cannot detect if this machine can or cannot access network accounts. b) We cannot restrict this "Network" entry to only network accounts (*). So the naming is confusing. (*) techincally not true as we could make a special PAM service that only allowed network logins, however I don't think this is really what this bug is requesting. ** Attachment added: "default-with-manual.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity-greeter/+bug/844044/+attachment/2832863/+files/default-with-manual.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/844044 Title: Unity Greeter - Add Network Login option To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/844044/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 844044] Re: Unity Greeter - Add Network Login option
Thomas, "We want a user list *and* we want the ability to enter a user-name by hand" - could you define who "we" are and some use-cases where you have a list of users and and also other accounts not in the list but useful to log in as? LightDM (and by extension Unity Greeter) assumes if the OS provides a list of user accounts (via getpwent()) then that provides all the possible accounts available on that system. From the getpwent manual page: "The getpwent() function returns a pointer to a structure containing the broken-out fields of a record from the password database (e.g., the local password file /etc/passwd, NIS, and LDAP)" The "greeter-hide-users" option in lightdm.conf requests that the greeter hide the list of users (even if it is provided by the OS) and instead show a manual entry. The emphasis is not on showing the manual entry, that is merely what the greeter does if there appears to be no users on the system (bug 919298 fixed this). It's not a "show user-name entry" option. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/844044 Title: Unity Greeter - Add Network Login option To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/844044/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 949685] [NEW] When running processes a process regularly gets stuck and does not complete
Public bug reported: Today I asked a question (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9610417 /twisted-process-execution-issues) on StackOverflow about an issue I have been having running a series of processes one after the other. I have been having these problems in my Ubuntu Accomplishments (https://code.launchpad.net/ubuntu-accomplishments-system) code but I wrote a dedicated Python program to test this and posted it to the StackOverflow question (the script is attached to this bug). The script basically runs five very simple Python scripts one after the other, but in almost all cases the scripts are never all run successfully...it gets to a script and then just gets stuck. You can see a more detailed description of the issue at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9610417 /twisted-process-execution-issues Glyph responded and suspected this may be a bug in Twisted, possibly an issue with GTK or glib. I also noted seeing the following fragment of discussion in #twisted: jono: I've seen issues with processes using gtk3, but not glib2 itamar: it happens with glib2reactor as well as gireactor, at least. i think new glib might have changed something which doesn't interact well with the signal handler bits of the twisted reactor :( dobey: tm.tl/5512 has a patch that makes *one* problem better I can think of another thing that might solve signal issues if this is a 12.04-only issues it's very hard for me to test, though, since I'm still on 11.10 itamar: well, it's just twisted 11.1.0 with the patch to added gireactor. so the same problems should happen with twisted trunk. though it may be due to changes in newer glib, which is not on ubuntu 11.10 anyway Later Itamar emailed me linking me to http://twistedmatrix.com/trac/ticket/5512 as something to try. I have never built Twisted before, and I am not sure if this will solve the issue. [Bug 806291] Re: [needs-packaging] Boot-Repair
Hi, If you already have a script that chooses the best 'su' command, why not using it in the desktop file, then? That would be better than having a desktop file that don't run anything because you're missing rights, IMHO. and about the deletion, this is what I get when I run it in a chroot: cleanubiquitybefore /usr/bin/cleanubiquitybefore: line 49: initialization: command not found /usr/bin/cleanubiquitybefore: line 26: log_preparation: command not found mkdir: cannot create directory `/clean-ubiquity': Permission denied [debug]Delete the content of TMP_FOLDER_TO_BE_CLEARED and put os-prober in memory rm: cannot remove `/bin': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/boot': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/build': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/dev': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/etc': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/home': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/lib': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/lib64': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/media': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/mnt': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/opt': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/proc': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/root': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/run': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/sbin': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/selinux': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/srv': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/sys': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/tmp': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/usr': Is a directory rm: cannot remove `/var': Is a directory unshare failed: Operation not permitted ERROR: you must be root ERROR: you must be root ERROR: you must be root ERROR: you must be root WARNING: Running as a non-root user. Functionality may be unavailable. No volume groups found ... you can see the "cannot remove' part, with root directories... This is what let me guess there is something wrong somewhere. thanks, Fabrice -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/806291 Title: [needs-packaging] Boot-Repair To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/boot-repair/+bug/806291/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 931621] Re: update-manager fail upgrade to 12.04
Looks like you have some custom PPA's installed, you will need to remove those and their packages before you continue. Consider the tool 'ppa-purge' to do this. I am closing this report, but please feel free to continue leaving comments here. --- Ubuntu Bug Squad volunteer triager http://wiki.ubuntu.com/BugSquad ** Changed in: update-manager (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/931621 Title: update-manager fail upgrade to 12.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/931621/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
