[Bug 280053] Re: xinetd enabled is not overruled by disable in service declaration
Where in the documentation does it say that the disable = yes takes precedence? In the quoted text: Note that the service disable attribute and DISABLE flag can prevent a service from being enabled despite being listed in this attribute. It _can_ prevent a service from being enabled, but not it _will_, meaning that no deterministic behaviour is indicated for this case. ** Changed in: xinetd (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to xinetd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/280053 Title: xinetd enabled is not overruled by disable in service declaration To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xinetd/+bug/280053/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 280053] Re: xinetd enabled is not overruled by disable in service declaration
I reported it because I believe that disable should take precedence from my reading of the man-page. Furthermore making disable overrule enable is the most secure thing to do if there is any ambiguity about whether a service should be enabled or disabled in the configuration file. If you have read the entire man-page and determined that my understanding is wrong, please feel free to close the bug. I have no need to argue further about a 5 year old bug-report that no one has looked at in 4 years, and which exists in a piece of unloved legacy software. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to xinetd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/280053 Title: xinetd enabled is not overruled by disable in service declaration To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xinetd/+bug/280053/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1242363] Re: Puppet package needs ruby-hiera (unmapped dep)
Correct. This packaging bug was fixed in the debian repository just before the 3.3.0-1 release, with commit id 11a376f8348dfa2c254b19f7b29aec13940aeb92. The ruby-hiera dependency was moved from the puppetmaster-common package to the puppet-common package. [Bug 1242363] Re: Puppet package needs ruby-hiera (unmapped dep)
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I can run puppet apply with an empty manifest and also a trivial manifest with a single static file defined, using puppet-common 3.2.4-2ubuntu2 on Saucy and without ruby-hiera installed. What exactly is the failure case here, please? What do you have in /etc/puppet/manifests/abstracts.pp:10? If you have something that specifically needs hiera, but puppet doesn't need hiera in all cases, then shouldn't this be at best a recommendation rather than a hard dependency? We should certainly pick up the ruby-hiera dependency in puppet-common on the next merge from Debian for Trusty, as I see no reason to diverge from Debian on this. But do we need Saucy fixed? If so, what is the justification, please? Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Confirmed: php5-fpm(8) documents USR2 as the reload signal, and the upstart script defaults to HUP. Workaround (untested): add the line reload signal USR2 to /etc/init/php5-fpm.conf. This also exists in Debian so should be filed there too. [Bug 1242074] Re: lxc-ls shows wrong status
Drat my comment got lost. The lxc-instance job ends up starting containers as 'anonymous'. You can see them using lxc-list -P /var/lib/lxc_anon The autostart code is currently being reworked but I think this is worth fixing in older releases. It coudl be fixed in one of two ways - or both: the lxc-instance job could detect that linked file is a standard container's config and start it that way (without specifying -f); or lxc-start could detect that the passed-in rcfile is a link to a standard $lxcpath/$name/config, and not start the container anonymously. ** Changed in: lxc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: lxc (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to lxc in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242074 Title: lxc-ls shows wrong status To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1242074/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Looks like the cause of the 'gdb.Value' object cannot be interpreted as an integer error is the range function not being able to turn a gdb.Value into an int. Put an explicit `int(val)` in there and I can get py-bt and py-list to work again. I've attached a patch with the changes I've made, but I want to check that this doesn't break Python 2.7 support and clean it up a bit more (pretty sure that `long` and `int` have been unified for a while now) before submitting this upstream. ** Patch added: Python 3 support https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdb/+bug/1241668/+attachment/3884699/+files/python3-support.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241668 Title: gdb embeds python3.3, but support scripts are not compatible To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdb/+bug/1241668/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1216094] Re: [Cirrus7 Nimbus, Realtek ALC892, Pink Line In, Rear] No sound at all
Hi Raymond, A lot of information you provide here. Using hda-jack-retask, I was able to switch from line in to microphone for the pink connector. [Bug 1216094] Re: [Cirrus7 Nimbus, Realtek ALC892, Pink Line In, Rear] No sound at all
just edit the firmware file generated by hda-jack-retask and add the hint add_jack_modes to add Mic Jack Mode (Mic and Line in Switching) and Line Out Jack Mode for (Line Out and HP switching) Early Patching ~~ When CONFIG_SND_HDA_PATCH_LOADER=y is set, you can pass a patch as a firmware file for modifying the HD-audio setup before initializing the codec. This can work basically like the reconfiguration via sysfs in the above, but it does it before the first codec configuration. A patch file is a plain text file which looks like below: [codec] 0x10ec0892 0x80862036 [pincfg] 0x18 0x01a19020 [hint] add_jack_modes = true The file needs to have a line `[codec]`. The next line should contain three numbers indicating the codec vendor-id (0x12345678 in the example), the codec subsystem-id (0xabcd1234) and the address (2) of the codec. The rest patch entries are applied to this specified codec until another codec entry is given. Passing 0 or a negative number to the first or the second value will make the check of the corresponding field be skipped. It'll be useful for really broken devices that don't initialize SSID properly. The `[model]` line allows to change the model name of the each codec. In the example above, it will be changed to model=auto. Note that this overrides the module option. After the `[pincfg]` line, the contents are parsed as the initial default pin-configurations just like `user_pin_configs` sysfs above. The values can be shown in user_pin_configs sysfs file, too. Similarly, the lines after `[verb]` are parsed as `init_verbs` sysfs entries, and the lines after `[hint]` are parsed as `hints` sysfs entries, respectively. The hd-audio driver reads the file via request_firmware(). Thus, a patch file has to be located on the appropriate firmware path, typically, /lib/firmware. For example, when you pass the option `patch=hda-init.fw`, the file /lib/firmware/hda-init.fw must be present. The patch module option is specific to each card instance, and you need to give one file name for each instance, separated by commas. For example, if you have two cards, one for an on-board analog and one for an HDMI video board, you may pass patch option like below: options snd-hda-intel patch=on-board-patch,hdmi-patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1216094 Title: [Cirrus7 Nimbus, Realtek ALC892, Pink Line In, Rear] No sound at all To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1216094/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1242169] Re: Unable to use piped commands in terminal because Shift + Space enters not a space symbol
** Summary changed: - New keyboard indicator in Saucy enters incorrect Space symbol when press Shift + Space + Unable to use piped commands in terminal because Shift + Space enters not a space symbol ** Description changed: I'm not sure that this is the right package to report this problem, but as I understand it is responsible for keyboard stuff and it was significantly changed in Saucy. I noticed some strange and annoying behaviour in gnome terminal window. If you type some command with single pipe (|), double pipe (||) or double ampersand (), you'll see that bash can't recognize the command after the pipe/ampersand. Example: anton@ibn-hottab:~$ ls | grep Music No command ' grep' found, did you mean: Command 'fgrep' from package 'grep' (main) Command 'vgrep' from package 'atfs' (universe) Command 'xgrep' from package 'xgrep' (universe) Command 'grep' from package 'grep' (main) Command 'zgrep' from package 'gzip' (main) Command 'zgrep' from package 'zutils' (universe) Command 'igrep' from package 'openimageio-tools' (universe) Command 'agrep' from package 'agrep' (multiverse) Command 'sgrep' from package 'sgrep' (universe) Command 'rgrep' from package 'grep' (main) Command 'dgrep' from package 'debian-goodies' (main) Command 'ngrep' from package 'ngrep' (universe) Command 'lgrep' from package 'lv' (universe) Command 'pgrep' from package 'procps' (main) Command 'egrep' from package 'grep' (main) grep: command not found I'm 100% sure that grep is installed on my computer. And in fact it doesn't matter what command is entered after the pipe. As you may notice - Space symbol is enterpreted as a part of the command. + Space symbol is interpreted as a part of the command. But if you press Up and remove or edit the space in the command, it will work fine: anton@ibn-hottab:~$ ls | grep Music Music I understood why this happened. When I typed the command fast, I pressed Shift to enter the pipe and then emmidiately pressed Space. In other words, when I type Shift + Space some strange symbol that looks like a space entered instead (nobreakspace maybe). This symbol is interpreted by bash as a part of the next command. If you type the command very carefully and don't press Shift when enter the Space, everything will work as expected. I veryfied this bug in gnome-terminal and in xterm and it is 100% reproducible. There is not difference if I'm using bash or sh. The bug is not reproducible at all when I test in real terminal (tty, Ctrl+Alt+F1). Please, let me know if you need some assistance from my side. [Bug 1232814] Re: Hibernate option is missing from menu in 13.10 even after trying to re-enable
#10 I can't understand how this isn't intentional, it was purposely removed before 12.04 was released, but there was a workaround to get it back in the menu, now oddly the ability to use that workaround has also been removed. Windows 8 also by default removes the hibernate option, but it is simple to add back. As Sergio says, suspend is also problematic, I have lost count of the amount of times I have opened my bag to find my laptop has awakened from suspend in my bag and toasted away, not to mention the times when it flatly refuses to suspend at all and just resumes before I get out of my seat. Forcing me to either close down every application, make sure everything is saved and then shutdown, or hibernate. Then there is also the all too frequent problems of Compiz hanging or crashing when resuming from suspend, forcing a hard reset. Not to mention the problem Sergio points out of the device inexplicably losing power whilst in suspend mode. I've always found suspend a far riskier option than hibernate. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1232814 Title: Hibernate option is missing from menu in 13.10 even after trying to re-enable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-session/+bug/1232814/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1241727] Re: Cannot upgrade 13.04 to 13.10
Sorry for this misinformation. I have found two more drivers from the xedger repo that I haven't downgraded. Removing the repo from sources.list (or from the system settings dialog) is not sufficient. One has to manually downgrade ALL the xserver-xorg- video... drivers that come from xedger not just the ones installed. After doing this, dist-upgrade works fine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241727 Title: Cannot upgrade 13.04 to 13.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1241727/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1241898] Re: do-release-upgrade to 13.10 saucy fails amd64
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1241420 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241420 Scott, I had to manually remove (downgrade) any xserver-xorg-video... drivers that had a version higher than ...raring... I also cleaned out /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ from any repo that might contain video drivers and removed xedger from sources.list file. After that (it took me at least 5 attempts) the system was clean and did a dist-upgrade. Maybe you want to look into /var/log/dist-upgrade/apt.log and main.log for indication of whether there are some drivers left. (If you run vmware like myself, see for the vmware video driver as well) good luck -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241898 Title: do-release-upgrade to 13.10 saucy fails amd64 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1241898/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
