[Bug 1040873] Re: [N56VZ, Realtek ALC663, Black Headphone Out, Right] No sound at all: Subwoofer not working
Hi, I just tried Ubuntu 15.04 which embeeds pulse audio 6.0. In the sound settings panel, I can switch to 2.1 profile, and within test panel, everything works just fine : Left, right and subwoofer. *But* when I launch any sound application, there is no sound through subwoofer. I tried Gnome videos, vlc and firefox. Is there something wrong with the applications? I think this is weird because if the application outputs stereo tracks, then pulse/alsa should be able to generate a subwoofer track (mix+lowpass) and then output 2.1. Am I wrong? Any configuration test I should try? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1040873 Title: [N56VZ, Realtek ALC663, Black Headphone Out, Right] No sound at all: Subwoofer not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1040873/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1447600] Re: 15.04 installer hangs in partitoner during something else
Same problem here. Basically I cannot install Kubuntu 15.04. Same symptom: installer hangs at 33% while preparing the ext4 file system. I currently have KUbuntu 14.10 and was trying to format the root partition and put 15.04 instead. Noticed that the installer didn't actually do any changes to that partition as was able to boot 14.10 without a hitch after my failed installation attempt. So apparently it doesn't write anything on selected root partition while being stuck at 33%. Hope this helps and you fix it soon so we can all install 15.04. [Bug 1431743] Re: fails to boot due to read-ony file system
This should be reopened. This is a potentially serious regression that broke on my machine upgrading from 14.10 to 15.04. The way in which it broke left me looking at a shell that told me despite my FS being mounted rw according to mount, all commands were failing because of Read-only file system. It is in no way intuitive why it happens, nor the solution that adding an entry to /etc/fstab for the root would fix it, given that that fstab entry was not required in 14.10 and prior. I'm fortunate enough to be experienced enough to find this report and execute follow the steps, many non-power/novice users will not be. This issue could have been avoided altogether by implementing a post- install check that examines the fstab and corrects the issue or at least notifies the user to correct the issue before rebooting. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1431743 Title: fails to boot due to read-ony file system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1431743/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1366418] Re: Bluetooth BCM43142A0 doesn’t work
@Mark, 1. Asus drivers are buit a way that you do not see separate firmware files. 2. To determine which hex file to use, you need to look into inf file. Find your adapter VID PID and match it to hex file. Then convert it to hcd. It is a shame that Broadcom does not give license to distribute that firmware. I think about making a ppa with all these files, but it is not quite legal. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1366418 Title: Bluetooth BCM43142A0 doesn’t work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/1366418/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1448678] [NEW] ntfs3g -s option should be ignored, making autofs mounts failing
Public bug reported: I've troubled some with mounting ntfs-3g file systems with autofs. AutoFS passes the sloppy option (-s) to mounts, which is actually a valid thing since mount is to behave on all filesystems the same option- whise. Though, the ntfs-3g filesystem does not support it, and fails on it, which it should not. Public bug reported: STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 1. Launch usb-creator-gtk (for example from Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS) 2. Choose iso-image to create LiveUSB (12.04 LTS, 14.04 LTS, 14.10, 15.04) 3. Press Make Startup Disk 4. LiveUSB was created (Installation Complete window) 5. Pressed Test Disk 6. Got error message in QEMU window (gfxboot.c32: not a COM32R image) - it is known bug 1325801 , enter live here 7a. Boot to corrupted desktop (12.04 LTS, 14.04 LTS, 14.10 ) - it is bug 1080674 7b. Boot to failsafe mode (15.04) - it is bug 1437740 EXPECTED RESULTS: usb-creator-gtk is compatible with modern versions of Ubuntu, user can boot and test new versions of Ubuntu in it. ACTUAL RESULTS: usb-creator-gtk launch kvm without -vga option, guest system does not work with full graphics performance. User is disappointed. FIX: Developers can choose between two solutions - fix the problem on distro-side (in QEMU-KVM guest system), or pass -vga std (or -vga vmware) to kvm command on execution of Test Disk procedure. [Bug 1448234] Re: after upgrade from ubuntu 14.10 to 15.04 I can't download subtitles anymore
Thank you, I've found the option to download the subtitles indeed in full screen. About that menu in full screen, I did saw the option 'Subtitles' with a right pointing arrow. Since I'm used that hovering above such an item, automatically opens the submenu whoch didn't happen, I believed there were no subitems. After really clicking on 'Subtitles', the menu was changed with a new submenu. This makes me wonder if the change in interface is done for touch devices. In those situations, the new interface makes sence. So the bug report should be changed to something like 'Menu options missing in the global menu' and perhaps a new bug report should be made to address the 'no submenu on hovering the fullscreen menu items'. [Bug 1446027] Re: SNA acceleration causes sudden shutdowns and corrupts CMOS data on the the Asus UX21E ultrabook on a wide variety of kernels since at least Ubuntu 14.04
Right now, I'm downloading http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current /vivid-desktop-amd64.iso and soon will be posting the apport-collect reports: one during operation above the vendor-induced custom throttle threshold and another after it kicks in. On Friday, I contacted ASUS for a third time and a couple of hours ago they replied via e-mail that the battery was replaced on my second visit to their customer support center, although their tests revealed no defect in the previous battery or any other hardware component. So now I'm 200% sure it's not a hardware fault. Overnight I tested with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 (with the appropriate drivers and Asus Hybrid Engine software downloaded from the official support website) In Windows 7, everything works all right. In Windows 8.1 the shutdowns follow exactly the same pattern as in Ubuntu: once the battery charge approaches 7000 mW, the CPU is forcibly throttled down to 800 MHz. If there's a combination of Flash Player running and an above- than-average power consumption, a shutdown happens. If the CPU successfully throttles to 800 MHz without shutting down, everything continues to work as expected regardless of further CPU load or overall power consumption. Another important thing I discovered is that the backlight level does not contribute to the probability of shutdown, although all other power- related Windows options do. Windows 8.1 is much more susceptible to the issue than Ubuntu is. Again, much like in Ubuntu, once there was a shutdown, CMOS data becomes compromised and further shutdowns follow in a totally chaotic fashion until I detach the BIOS battery from the motherboard for a few minutes. I spent hours looking through the manuals but wasn't able to discover a kernel boot flag or something that would ward off any attempts by the BIOS to override the current CPU frequency set by the CPU governor. It appears that this custom throttling mechanism is masquerading as the one activated when CPU becomes critically overheated, so both Windows and Ubuntu see no fault and have to comply. Now I understand this is clearly not a fault of Ubuntu, but still cross my fingers for someone who has the knowledge to create a more streamlined, trusted workaround than the one I'm currently using. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1446027 Title: SNA acceleration causes sudden shutdowns and corrupts CMOS data on the the Asus UX21E ultrabook on a wide variety of kernels since at least Ubuntu 14.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1446027/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
