[Bug 1664471] [NEW] Creating user failed when doing console-conf for raspberry pi3 device
Public bug reported: I am now using the following raspberry pi3 software at: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-core/16/stable/current/ ubuntu-core-16-pi3.img.xz 2017-01-26 20:29316M During the console-conf, in the last step, after I input my email address, it waits for a long time, but it finally times out. The error message is as follows: == error: while creating user: cannot create user "xiaoguo@canonical.com": Get https://login.ubuntu.com/api/keys/xiaoguo.liu%40canonical.com: net/http: request canceled while waiting for connection (Client.Timeout exceeded while awaiting headers) == I have tried different images (Nov, 3rd), and flashed many times. The result is the same. I cannot get my device configured. Attached please find some captured pictures I got. By the way, I have ubuntu one account, and I used to enable devices a number of times. [Bug 1577641] Re: Unity8 creates a blank black window for windowless apps
This is an issue for me too. The use case is media-hub on desktop. We render into a framebuffer object and pass the textures to other process (mediaplayer-app usually) that renders them in a window. We obviously do not want a window shown by media-hub-server, but we need to connect to mir to access the GPU and render into the fbo. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1577641 Title: Unity8 creates a blank black window for windowless apps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1577641/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1625846] Re: Xmir -rootless: Firefox menus pop up then close right away
Basically it's the old problem of "the focused window is not always the top-most window". Other windowing systems don't assume they're the same and if existing apps are to work with Mir then Mir needs to understand that on-top and focused are not always the same thing. Utility windows like menus are often on top but do not possess the keyboard focus. Focus stays with the app window. ** Changed in: mir Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: miral Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1625846 Title: Xmir -rootless: Firefox menus pop up then close right away To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mir/+bug/1625846/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1625846] Re: Xmir -rootless: Firefox menus pop up then close right away
Interesting. It appears this might be a shell/Mir/MirAL bug. The problem is that Mir shells are sending focus events to surfaces that never receive focus events on normal X desktops. Sending a focus event to a menu that has specified never to receive focus (or is override redirect) is not directly a problem. However it creates a big problem indirectly because an unfocus of the app window happens before a focus of the menu. It's actually the unfocus of the main app window that makes Firefox think that it should then close its menu (or utility bar) immediately. So menus pop up and then vanish instantly, because the app window has lost focus (same kind of issue as recent Unity8 bug 1662733). The only way to work around this in Xmir is to remove the focus logic we did for the OSK. Then the app window never receives unfocus events and it won't close the menu prematurely. I may write a workaround to let you do that but it's not a solution... A proper solution requires that Mir surfaces (like some menus) should be able to flag never to send them focus events. And thus when menus open, the app window never receives an unfocus event. This could also solve Unity8 bug 1662733. Seems like we need some client API work done on the Mir side before the Xmir side can be fixed. ** No longer affects: miral (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1625846 Title: Xmir -rootless: Firefox menus pop up then close right away To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mir/+bug/1625846/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hopefully if one of the developers has some time to apply this patch / fix this bug once & for all in the very near future so no one has to install the extra dependencies to make it work. [Bug 1664453] [NEW] autopkgtests failing with systemd-232
Public bug reported: The autopkgtests for dogtag-pki are failing. It looks like this started with the upgrade of systemd to 232. Previously, pki-tomcatd was marked as failed on startup: Job for pki-tomcatd.service failed because the control process exited with error code. See "systemctl status pki-tomcatd.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details. invoke-rc.d: initscript pki-tomcatd, action "start" failed. ● pki-tomcatd.service - LSB: Start pki-tomcatd at boot time Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/pki-tomcatd; generated; vendor preset: enabled) Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Mon 2016-11-07 20:51:19 UTC; 14ms ago Docs: man:systemd-sysv-generator(8) Process: 8100 ExecStart=/etc/init.d/pki-tomcatd start (code=exited, status=5) Now, the service is marked as started and exited: ● pki-tomcatd.service - LSB: Start pki-tomcatd at boot time Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/pki-tomcatd; generated; vendor preset: enabled) Active: active (exited) since Tue 2017-02-14 06:02:25 UTC; 31s ago Docs: man:systemd-sysv-generator(8) Since systemd-sysv-generator uses RemainAfterExit=true, subsequent "systemctl start pki-tomcatd" invocations do nothing. I believe the relevant systemd change is: https://github.com/systemd/systemd/commit/41e2036eb83204df95a1c3e829bcfd78ee17aaa3 which fixed it to detect the special LSB exit codes as intended. I see that .../scriptlets/configuration.py issues start() when configuring the first tomcat instance and restart() for subsequent instances (line 364). Maybe one workaround would be to use restart() unconditionally for now? That looks like it does roughly the right thing. ** Affects: dogtag-pki (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1664453 Title: autopkgtests failing with systemd-232 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dogtag-pki/+bug/1664453/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1664445] Re: No warning/error when removing dependency
I just noticed that I can also install thumbnailer without ubuntu-app- platform being installed first. There is no error, even though there is no way that thumbnailer will work that way. It seems that installing a snap should automatically install all the snaps it depends on. Without this, I only find out at run time when my service fails to start that a dependency is missing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1664445 Title: No warning/error when removing dependency To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1664445/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1664445] [NEW] No warning/error when removing dependency
Public bug reported: Our thumbnailer snap uses ubuntu-app-platform. With the thumbnailer snap installed and connected, I can remove ubuntu-app-platform without any problems whatsoever: $ sudo snap remove ubuntu-app-platform ubuntu-app-platform removed $ That doesn't look like a good idea to me because I may not know that there are other snaps that I have just broken by mistake. I do find out that I've done something wrong once I try to run our service: $ thumbnailer.thumbnailer-service & [2] 10587 michi@djembefola:~/src/thumbnailer/gstreamer-plugins$ You need to connect the ubuntu-app-platform package with your application to reuse shared assets, please run: snap install ubuntu-app-platform snap connect thumbnailer:platform ubuntu-app-platform:platform [2]- Exit 1 thumbnailer.thumbnailer-service That's a nice error message, and it is very clear. But, unfortunately, it's too late. I might remove a snap and then not find out for weeks that I've broken something else... I think I should get an error when I try to remove a snap that other snaps depend on. Maybe, if I want to insist on breaking things, a --force option could be used to let me live dangerously. But, overall, I think it would be best to have something similar to apt, which tells me that, if I want to remove X, it'll also remove Y, Z if they depend on X. ** Affects: snapd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1664445 Title: No warning/error when removing dependency To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1664445/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1664438] [NEW] updating device name in system settings doesn't update /etc/hosts
Public bug reported: probably a "paper cut" issue here. On 16.04. Changed the hostname of a system recently by opening the system settings tool, into details, and typing a new device name. Noticed afterwards that running sudo commands in the terminal resulted in an 'unable to resolve hostname' message, although the commands ran successfully. Checked and it looked like changing the name updates /etc/hostname as expected, but it didn't update /etc/hosts for me - it still had: 127.0.0.1 localhost 127.0.1.1 (old hostname) Replacing the old hostname with the new one removed the message from the terminal when running sudo commands. ** Affects: unity-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1664438 Title: updating device name in system settings doesn't update /etc/hosts To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-control-center/+bug/1664438/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1555641] Re: flashplugin causes firefox to hang
Thanks for reporting this bug. Much has changed regarding the Flash plugin in the last few months. Adobe has started supporting the NPAPI plugin again, which is now version 24.0 compared to 11.2 when you reported this bug. So perhaps things are better now: can you please check if the current version solves your issues? The current NPAPI version (for Firefox) is in the packages flashplugin- installer and adobe-flashplugin (install either one). If you also have a PPAPI version installed (e.g. pepperflashplugin-nonfree), make sure that you don't have the package browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash, otherwise Firefox will use the PPAPI version through this wrapper (which works fine too, but won't show if the bug you reported is still current). [Bug 1664435] [NEW] Upgrade timeout logic is faulty
Public bug reported: When upgrading a ceph cluster, the charm code orders the nodes and starts performing upgrades a single node at a time. The charms make use of ceph's ability to provide an arbitrary key/value store in the monitor and will mark the progress of the upgrades in this key storage. This allows nodes to watch this central storage for progress of the upgrade. As a node begins its upgrade path, it stores its start time (via time.time()) in the ceph monitor's key value storage. The node which is to upgrade after the current node will read the value stored in the key and compare it to a timestamp from 10 minutes ago in order to determine if the previous node should be considered timed out or not. The problem is that the value read in from reading the monitor's key is stored and returned as a string and then compared to a floating point value from the time.time() call. This results in the node never timing out the previous node. This is however, a good thing. In the current released form of the charms (16.10), the upgrade path will always recursively chown the OSD directories, which in a production cluster is unlikely to finish in 10 minutes. Since the ceph charms will stop all services on the cluster at the same time, this would effectively lead to an entire cluster outage if the code were to work correctly. Instead of fixing this code to add a timeout, I propose the timeout logic be removed completely and error conditions be revisited in order to prevent a sweeping cluster outage. ** Affects: charms.ceph Importance: Medium Status: Triaged ** Affects: ceph (Juju Charms Collection) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: ceph-mon (Juju Charms Collection) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: ceph-osd (Juju Charms Collection) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: sts ** Also affects: ceph-osd (Juju Charms Collection) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: ceph (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** No longer affects: ceph (Ubuntu) ** Also affects: ceph-mon (Juju Charms Collection) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: ceph (Juju Charms Collection) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1664435 Title: Upgrade timeout logic is faulty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/charms.ceph/+bug/1664435/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1658884] Re: Wine fails *silently* if running programs from nautilus fails
I'm not sure if it's the same example than yours, as I only need to try to run a program not in the drives lists to trigger the problem. For example, and while *not having* the path /home/shankao/monkey2 in any wine drives, I get this error when trying to run the program with wine: shankao@maldita:~/monkey2$ wine monkey2.exe wine: cannot find L"unix\\home\\shankao\\monkey2\\monkey2.exe" shankao@maldita:~/monkey2$ Which looks correct. The problem is that, when trying to do the same operation from nautilus, it does nothing (it makes the cursor spin for a moment though), and it doesn't give any visual feedback of the error. As you said, I'm not sure what's the better way to solve this, but it looks like it'd be cleaner to solve it in wine instead of nautilus. The problem is that after unplugging the headphones it is muted and volume set to zero. If I raise the volume there I can hear sound from my speakers again. I hope that if I take out my headphones I don't have to start terminal and alsamixer to use my speakers. I understand this computer had driver problems in the past but I thought they were resolved. [Bug 1433255] Re: Please rebuild saga against latest gdal
I just several minutes ago sent in a comment on a continued "bug" in this vein. After doing some checking and rerunning the saga_cmd executable I believe the error was on my part in inadvertently setting an environment variable which was no longer needed for the version of SAGA (2.2.7) I am runnng. Seems current versions no longer need this environment variable, SAGA_MLB, set and unsetting it seems to have corrected the problem. It does seem odd, however, that having it set would cause an abend and resultant core dump, seems like there would be a "nicer" way to deal with the issue. However, sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, and please ignore my comment. Also, I didn't want to send in any official bug notification, if I did please remove and/or ignore it. Thanks.
