[Bug 1706859] [NEW] Auto-selected keyboard layout no longer matches chosen region on "Where are you" page
Public bug reported: Kubuntu 17.10 Alpha 2 iso image Build 20170725 Steps to reproduce: On "Where are you page" set region and time zone to "United Kingdom" Go to next page "Keyboard Layout" What happens: I am offered by default the English (US) keyboard layout and variant. What should happen: In 17.04 and previous ubiquity versions, the appropriate English (UK) option was chosen/presented by default to match my location settings from the previous screen. A regression like this could result in someone who is inattentive, or perhaps does many installs and simply assumes that the matching happens so does not notice, getting the wrong default keyboard setting on fresh install. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: alpha2 artful -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1706859 Title: Auto-selected keyboard layout no longer matches chosen region on "Where are you" page To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1706859/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1678477] Re: Kernel has troule recognizing Corsair Strafe RGB keyboard
I'm using the keyboard using Ubuntu 17.04 stock kernel with an external, independent powered, usb 2.0. It has a 3.0 Ampere power supply, not so big for these days, but powerful enough to avoid power problems for this keyboard. I'm using it for a while, several reboots and power-cycles, and I haven't had any error in dmesg, yet. [Bug 1696154] Re: [17.10 FEAT] Sign POWER host/NV kernels
One open technical question from the Canonical side: can you confirm that the POWER firmware implementation will support embedded certificate chains as part of the vmlinux signature data? Our existing SecureBoot signing regime uses an on-line signing key which is chained to a our CA certificate, and it is the latter that we would normally provide for db. It appears that the kmodsign tools support embedded certificates in the signature data, but we would like to confirm that the firmware implementation is also compatible with this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1696154 Title: [17.10 FEAT] Sign POWER host/NV kernels To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-power-systems/+bug/1696154/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1706804] Re: qxrunner fails to build from source in artful
The attached patch will fix this. However, qxrunner appears to be dead upstream (http://qxrunner.systest.ch/download/current/ shows no downloads newer that the currently packaged version, 0.9.2, from 2009 or earlier) and this is an Ubuntu-only package that has experienced only maintenance uploads since it was introduced in Lucid. So I am not uploading this package to artful. Instead, I am removing the package from artful and leaving it in artful-proposed, and if someone thinks this package is useful to still have in Ubuntu they can upload it. ** Patch added: "qxrunner-1706804.debdiff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qxrunner/+bug/1706804/+attachment/4922188/+files/qxrunner-1706804.debdiff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1706804 Title: qxrunner fails to build from source in artful To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qxrunner/+bug/1706804/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1685104] Re: Netflix returns error F7363-1260 as movie loads. Loading site is good
I gave up on trying to fix the errors. I have been running the Netflix Desk top and I have installed the version of wine to go with. I believe that the updates that either/both Ubuntu or Firefox sends that are the problem. Let me know if you want the whole procedure for installing the desk top. One warning: The desk top does hog a lot of resources, but reloading the page often cures the problems. [Bug 1706833] [NEW] atheros bt failed after S3
Public bug reported: [Impact] BT fails to load firmware after S3. On my system it's atheros' chip, but the same issue can be seen with broadcom's chip, too. [542.6274] WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 20729 at /build/linux-MD8jsN/linux-4.4.0/drivers/base/firmware_class.c:1148 _request_firmware+0x7c2/0xaf0() The root cause of this issue is request_firmware() is being called at the wrong time. [Fix] The fix is from this old thread[1], but the patch didn't be accepted by the maintainer. It prevents the work queue from being re-created and calls request_firmware() immediately before usermodehelper is fully resumed. Making the workqueue freezable preserves the delay and will postpone the firmware loading time. [Test Case] Verified on the machine has this issue, and confirm this patch works. [Regression Potential] >From what I can see, I think this change should be safe, and after 240 times >S3 test, the system and BT functions are still working. 1. http://lists.openwall.net/netdev/2015/05/06/3 ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: AceLan Kao (acelankao) Status: In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1706833 Title: atheros bt failed after S3 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1706833/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

recordmydesktop is an X app so won't work properly in your Wayland session (when I tried it it just records the mouse cursor on blackness). OBEX silently fails (this bug) After having OBEX enabled, I was able to transmit files from laptop to smartphone, yet I could not receive files on the laptop. In the system log, you could see that OBEX fails (please note `FORBIDDEN`): ``` Mai 30 14:47:55 tp obexd[8168]: OBEX daemon 5.43 Mai 30 14:48:04 tp obexd[8168]: CONNECT(0x0), (null)(0x) Mai 30 14:48:04 tp obexd[8168]: CONNECT(0x0), (null)(0x0) Mai 30 14:48:04 tp obexd[8168]: PUT(0x2), (null)(0x) Mai 30 14:48:04 tp obexd[8168]: PUT(0x2), FORBIDDEN(0x43) Mai 30 14:48:04 tp obexd[8168]: DISCONNECT(0x1), (null)(0x) Mai 30 14:48:04 tp obexd[8168]: DISCONNECT(0x1), SUCCESS(0x20) Mai 30 14:48:04 tp obexd[8168]: disconnected: Transport got disconnected ``` I did not receive a popup notification asking me to receive the file or not. In the file sharing preferences `gnome-file-share-properties`, there is a setting to automatically receive files via bluetooth. With this box checked, you're finally able to receive files from your smartphone. Successful log for comparison: ``` Mai 30 14:55:50 tp obexd[8168]: CONNECT(0x0), (null)(0x) Mai 30 14:55:50 tp obexd[8168]: CONNECT(0x0), (null)(0x0) Mai 30 14:55:50 tp obexd[8168]: PUT(0x2), (null)(0x) Mai 30 14:55:50 tp obexd[8168]: PUT(0x2), CONTINUE(0x10) Mai 30 14:56:28 tp obexd[8168]: DISCONNECT(0x1), (null)(0x) Mai 30 14:56:28 tp obexd[8168]: DISCONNECT(0x1), SUCCESS(0x20) Mai 30 14:56:28 tp obexd[8168]: disconnected: Transport got disconnected ``` # Expected behaviour OBEX is started by default to handle bluetooth file transfers. [Bug 1706818] [NEW] mismatched file locking since 1:4.2.8p4+dfsg-3ubuntu1 causes race leaving ntp dead on reboot
Public bug reported: ntpdate and ntp conflict on the NTP well-known-socket. If ntp and ntpdate 1:4.2.8p4+dfsg-3ubuntu5.5 are installed on Xenial, and there are 2 static interfaces configured, most often we find that ntpd is not running after a reboot. When the ntp service is started by systemd, ntp fails to bind the NTP socket because ntpdate is running in the background. It's intended that ntp and ntpdate try to avoid this conflict with a lock file, but the locking mechanism was changed in ntpdate.if-up (from lockfile to flock), but it was not changed in ntp.init. Previously the file locking prevented ntp from trying to start when ntpdate was running. Not any more. Having multiple interfaces causes a much longer period of the socket being unavailable, because the 2 ntpdate processes will get serialized by the lock, while the ntp service is looking for a different lock, so it just plows right in. Attempts by netdate.if-up to stop and start ntp seem to overlap and when the final start is invoked, systemd seems to thing ntp is already running, though it has failed. In 1:4.2.8p4+dfsg-3ubuntu1 the following change was made: debian/ntpdate.if-up: Drop lockfile mechanism as upstream is using flock now. Looks like corresponds to rev 371 of debian/ntpdate.if-up from upstream. This change diverged locking between ntpdate.if-up and ntp.init. This was rectified in rev 451 of ntp.init, to use compatible locking, but that doesn't appear in the Ubuntu version. [Bug 1685104] Re: Netflix returns error F7363-1260 as movie loads. Loading site is good
This problem has return for me as of July 26th 2017. Current version of FF is 54. OS is unchanged from 32-bit Ubuntu. I went on vacation for three weeks prior to this, and when I returned, everything was working. I used Netflix for a couple of weeks, and today the problem returned, exactly as before. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it seems that a package failed to install due to a segmentation fault in the application being used for the package installation process. Unfortunately, this bug report isn't very useful in its current state and a crash report would be much more useful. Could you try recreating this issue by enabling apport to catch the crash report 'sudo service apport start force_start=1' and then trying to install the same package again? This process will create a new bug report so I am marking this one as Invalid. Thanks again for helping out! [This is an automated message. [Bug 1644364] Re: [MIR] htop
I am withdrawing this MIR request and marking this invalid. While a very useful application, based on the security review it seems this is not a good candidate at the current time. There are more than a few small changes required to get this accepted. This review will be passed onto the maintainer, but not acted on by myself. htop appears to be a good opportunity to be delivered as a snap with confinement to get prevent concerns from the security review. Once there is a defined process for a snap-based MIR I can reapply at that time. [Bug 1706800] [NEW] Cannot unlock screen with a valid password
Public bug reported: Whether it matters or not, I have a rather complicated setup with a Kaby lake Thinkpad, dock station and several displays. When I go to lunch I lock my session. I cannot unlock it once I come back. I enter a valid password and all controls become disabled as if it is checking the password right now. However, the screens remain locked even after minutes of waiting. Ctrl-alt-Fx works and everything else works as well: I can login there and cat syslog. There usually are some recent messages about locking inputs. I can reboot gracefully. I probably can restart the X session (didn't try it). [Bug 1706442] Re: please add support for openjdk-8
>From what I can tell, the rationale for adding the "Breaks" directive in openjdk-8 was that with the current version of ca-certificates-java, users who do not use one of the enumerated JVMs will not have their cert store updated when this package gets updated, which is a security problem for those users. It's true that openjdk-8 comes from a PPA, but since it appears trivial to add support (see links) I don't see why not. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1706442 Title: please add support for openjdk-8 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ca-certificates-java/+bug/1706442/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1706442] Re: please add support for openjdk-8
Independent of the "Java is completely broken" issue, I do think the originally stated case of "ca-certificate-java should support openjdk-8" is still totally valid. Installing this package seems to bring in java 7 even when you already have 8 installed. The current situation is pretty ridiculous. Java 7 is EOL and not useful to the majority of users of the most popular languages on the planet. Java 8 is only available via an unsupported PPA, and any attempt to get support (either here, or on the PPA, or via the request process to get Java 8 added to Trusty) has simply failed. I hate being that guy whining on the bug tracker, but Ubuntu is really dropping the ball on this one. Just look at the request for an official Java 8 packaging: https://bugs.launchpad.net/trusty- backports/+bug/1368094 with 750 "+1"s. The community is trying to work with Ubuntu to highlight this and get it fixed, but every attempt either gets ignored or closed as invalid...
[Bug 1686345] Re: apt-get libmagick++-6.q16-6v6 depend missing
Still the same for me. I installed 0.92.1 on Ubuntu 17.04-Zesty by using "apt-get download" to get the inkscape and libgtkspell0 debs, installing the available libmagick++-6.q16-7 in the usual way ("sudo apt-get install ...") and then doing `sudo dpkg -i --force-depends ./inkscape*.deb` and same for libgtkspell0. Then creating a link with `sudo ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libMagick++-6.Q16.so.{7,6}` and running `sudo ldconfig`.
