I also tried using Xorg -configure. The resulting file did explictly
specify Driver radeon but no video mode and behaved the same as with
xorg.conf given from installer.

After adding initrd entries to menu.lst - which have been there for all old
hardy kernel entries but none of the initrepid kernels - booting is fine again.
Although update-grub has been run several times before, e.g. when reinstallting
kernels, it did not change menu.lst accordingly. Now back in
I just found the initrd entries missing in the generated grub menu.lst
and testing in qemu works so far.

Testing Tim's latest kernel (-18-generic) this is what happens in a
fresh hardy installation:
1) CPU Goes 100% maybe because

Hardy with all the updates? In a new Hardy installation or Hardy will
all the updates, HUAWEI E220 does not work and I have to follow the

I just opened a shell for a non-root user, and then did a
% grub
grub savedefault 0
The grub crashed.
Grub does fine when called as root, so I guess it is as it cannot write to the
disk, as the non-root user does not have the required

The current Portuguese translation of GCOMPRIS has multiple problems in
the Portuguese translation which are too long to be detailed in the bug
report. The template needs careful review from translators, correcting
for spell and grammar errors.
It is a problem of Portuguese strings (and grammar). They should be
improved.
