In the window where you can choose the browser, have you tried clicking
on the Choose button and then choosing the executable file for your
browser (like /usr/bin/firefox if you want the link to be opened with
Firefox)?

Could you please install the linux-crashdump package (use the command
sudo apt-get install linux-crashdump), then reboot and try to crash
the kernel again (if possible), so that we can get a complete crash dump
the next time the kernel crashes? I have had a look at the
