[Bug 1829620] Re: intel-microcode on ASUS makes kernel stuck during loading initramfs on bionic-updates, bionic-security

2019-09-16 Thread Jason Bassett
Hello

Same issue with purple screen when login screen should be displayed.

By adding nomodeset to the Linux kernel line in Grub I was able to get
to the login screen.

But now I am just left at the purple screen once I have entered my login
credentials and pressed enter.

I have checked for BIOS update, none available. I am on a Dell Inspiron
7720.

Moving the mouse on the login screen is also very sluggish.

Regards

Jason

[Bug 1366519] [NEW] Incredibly slow editing of documents when connected to network

2014-09-07 Thread Jason Bassett
Public bug reported:

When editing a document using LibreOffice, the system locks up after
every update typed. Lock up can be up to 30 seconds before control is
returned to the user. I have found that this takes place even on
documents located on the same physical machine, not just network hosted
documents.

Problem does not occur if I disconnect form the SSHFS drive.

I can understand potential delay when editing a remote document but the
connection to an SSHFS file server is affecting editing of locally held
documents too.

[Bug 1161065] [NEW] HP G56-1065A Laptop external display not functioning properly

2013-03-27 Thread Jason Bassett
Public bug reported:

Plugging in an external monitor into this laptop on Ubuntu 12.04.

Prerequisites:

External monitor is plugged in and the laptop screen is turned off using
the slider switch under Displays.

What happens:

Unplugging external monitor is not detected by the laptop so the laptop
screen does not turn itself on. User has to instead manually turn on
the laptop screen before unplugging the externa monitor.

What I expect to happen:

External monitor is unplugged and the laptop screen turns back on
instead, all on its own.

Have not found this issue with any other laptop as yet.

Regards

Jason
