I can now capture sound without problems.
To simulate a fresh install i removed /var/lib/alsa/asound.state (while
running from another system), and booted into ubuntu 6.06.1. I did need
to activate recording via the microphone, but this was possible without
problem in the volume settings.

I agree, but Ubuntu can still start en run on that computer.
If someone dos not know anything about DMA etc... changes are that Ubuntu
looses a user because he/she did see the messages and concluded that it is
not going to work. My point is that because there seems to be a alternative
try in the
solution:
in SOAP/Server.php
search -message();
and replace it with -message; (because it's a string not a method)
but anyway, php shouldn't crash when a not existing method is called.

i can confirm that it crashes very often and randomly for me too.
i noticed some actions it doesn't like at all, for example searching for
a text in the source code window or within a textarea of the previous
site (means going back and then searching).

I confirm this problem on kubuntu feisty (7.04) on a Toshiba satellite

It seems to happen every time I try to play an AVI file. I haven't tried

@Sebastian: I guess the reason people are still commenting even getting
discouraged all the time is that people are missing the functionality
that has been removed without an adequate replacement. Count me into
that group of people. It does not help that my previous solution stopped
working, too:

Just removed appmenu-gtk, it worked. The file menu is back in truecrypt.

distortions on the higher frequencies. That is, the distortions can only
be clearly heard while listening to piano music or music with similar
