Dimension 9200 in the lab here and was able to test the Intrepid Beta
release. The machine booted just fine and Xorg came up as expected. So

backports-modules package for Intrepid? The reason I ask is because it
most recently pulled in an updated version of the compat-wireless stack.
Maybe it might resolve the issue you are seeing with rt73usb:
