I've also had success with adding the -smp module to Fiesty to enable
sound on Quicksilvers. However, When I try it on a dual-processor
Quicksilver it enables the second CPU as it should but doesn't fix the
sound. Any suggestions?

Try adding snd-powermac to the /etc/modules file and reboot. You may
also need to change the sound to PC Speaker. I do that regularly to
fix G3/G4 macs when sound isn't present

System freezes shortly after reaching
I put quotes around both, that must be what broke it. Then I tried to
fix it using live CD to re-edit but I couldn't make it stick as the live
CD couldn't update the bin. Mint always warns me of syntax errors so if
this did as well I missed it.
I'll try it again. I might just switch back to Tiger

As a workaround for hardy users, you can just manually download and use
libnspr4-dev from intrepid:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/libnspr4-dev
I haven't tested to make sure compiling goes smoothly, but at least apt
doesn't complain.

I've run into this too. The easiest way to reproduce this is to select
all installed packages and pick mark for removal. An endless stream
of meaningless warning message boxes will pop up one after another.
(It's probably better to only select a few, otherwise you'll probably
end up x-kill-ing

MCC to install diskless image to a flash drive. So this problem must

it occured when using human-netbook-remix theme - and it is still a problem for

Plus one. I have a radio modem (TNC-X) that uses an FTDI USB/serial chip
for communications to a PC host. The device connects fine, kicks off
udev, and the module loads ok, but some applications (including the
intended app, Xastir) cannot read from the device under the current

The alternative pdftops driver that you suggested

I found that completely uninstall xmlrpc from the package manager (which
is 1.06.21-1) and manually installing 1.06.30 from the site maintainer
corrected the issue. Hope it helps.

I also have the same problem, when Flash in Firefox is playing audio,
neither VLC nor mplayer can play audio until I stop Firefox and restart
the video player.
I have integrated audio in a Dell Vostro 1400 laptop with the Mobile
PM965/GM965/GL960 chipset :
82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio
TBH I stopped using Kubuntu and switched to Ubuntu not long after this and now
upgrade using a fresh install each time.
