Guys, if anyone here uses Kubuntu 13.04 or Mint 15 KDE, please try it
there with kdesudo instead of gksu.
I couldn't get it to freeze. I don't know if it affects something, but
kdesudo spits all the messages sent to stderr right away, while gksu
holds them all somewhere and will unload them all
There's no point in it: sudo is for console apps, gksu is for GUI ones.
Try also this: turn the aforementioned setting on once (or just start
synaptic with it turned on), then off, and only then start working with
the package list, e.g. browsing, selecting, scrolling with both keys and
mouse,
Check if it's greyed out only if you start synaptic without
administrative privileges and appears when you start it via gksu.
I guess software-properties-gtk has been moved to suggests because
synaptic now has its own repo manager which starts if software-
properties-gtk is not installed.

Sound Settings menu item in indicator-sound-gtk2 does nothing
Updated the description a bit. Also here's the proof that MATE still
uses GTK+2 version of indicator-sound:
monsta@mate:~$ ps aux | grep indicator-sound
monsta3020 0.0 0.4 552868 13156 ?Sl 14:23 0:00
/usr/lib/indicator-sound-gtk2/indicator-sound-service
monsta3589 0.0 0.0
That's also the reason it had to be patched in Linux Mint Xfce edition.
