I have the same problem as mentioned above.
Iam facing it for the past 3 weeks..
In Ubuntu 14.04 AMD 64.
1) I have a driver package given in my dongle.
2) There is a Readme.txt. I follow all instructions as per that.
3) It says NDIS Driver Succesfully installed..

Same problem - LVM didn't fix this. I ended up installing the desktop
version instead.

I installed the 3.14.1-trusty kernel from the Ubuntu Mainline Kernels
repository, and that seems to have fixed it for me. I have an Intel
Mobile 965GM and Core 2 Duo processor. When using the 3.13 kernel that
ships by default, adding nomodeset to my GRUB configuration was the
