This may be a bug in Pulseaudio introduced in version 8 - at least it was in my case. [Bug 1542146] [NEW] Nautilus fails to preserve directory timestamp on move
Public bug reported: Move a directory using mv and its mtime will be preserved. Move a directory using Nautilus, and its mtime will be set to the time it was moved. This is a bug. Nautilus preserves mtime for file and directory copies as well as file moves. Moveover, if the user attempts to move a directory that the user does not have permission to delete (e.g. it is owned by another user), a copy will be created with the correct mtime. This indicates that Nautilus is taking an additional step that blats the mtime, but only on moves, and only after they have already successfully created the destination file. [Bug 1548587] Re: Ubuntu 15.10 VMWare guest won't show UI after upgrading to 4.2.0-30
I've just installed the update on 5 VMs and none of them would boot. I've interrupted boot (by holding the Shift key whilst powering on the VM) to bring up the Grub menu (it took several attempts to get it), selected "Advanced options for Ubuntu", highlighted the previous kernel ("Ubuntu, with Linux 4.2.0-27-generic"), and booted. Once the system came back up I logged in and did: apt-get --purge remove linux-image-4.2.0-30-generic linux-image- extra-4.2.0-30-generic My VM(s) will now reboot. Looks like the new kernel is broke. [Bug 1571138] [NEW] gnome-terminal resizes to entire desktop when un-maximised
Public bug reported: Start a gnome-terminal (it should start windowed, 80x24), then maximise it (by double clicking the title bar, clicking the maximise button, etc.); its title bar disappears and it is now correctly maximised. Now un-maximise the terminal (same way as before). It briefly flashes down to its former size and position, then instantly resizes to take up the entire desktop. So it looks like when it was maximised, except its title bar is still visible. Re-maximising and un-maximising from this state doesn't return the previous dimensions; the gnome-terminal has forgotten its original size. [Bug 1488254] Re: clang++ no longer ABI-compatible with g++
I've made a first pass at adapting patches D17567 and D18035 to work with your clang-3.8 packages. It builds and passes its own build-time tests, and successfully builds and links a medium-size project we have at work on 16.04, but I can't vouch for it much more than that. I can see that this particular bug is attached to llvm-toolchain-3.6 and not 3.8, but there doesn't seem to be a corresponding bug on 3.8, so hopefully this isn't a bad place to mention it. Haven't tried patching clang-3.6 yet. ** Patch added: "clang-3.8-abi_tag-ubuntu-changes.diff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/llvm-toolchain-3.6/+bug/1488254/+attachment/4703637/+files/clang-3.8-abi_tag-ubuntu-changes.diff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1488254 Title: clang++ no longer ABI-compatible with g++ To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/llvm/+bug/1488254/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1208993] Re: Ubuntu slows down and hangs while copying file from/to USB
Same problem here, driving me crazy because it's unpredictable. Last night I copied 500GB (movies 1-2 GB) from an old external HDD to a new external external HDD. Finished the next morning without problems. Next I wanted to copy 5GB and the transfer became slower until it came to a halt. The system (Ubuntu 14.04) froze, I could't use the mouse/keyboard. [Bug 1264795] Re: Alt+Tab Switcher randomly activates itself
I've been doing some research after experiencing this issue, and stumbled across this. It may be nothing but for me this only seems to happen when my MacBook Pro is connected to the mains. When unplugged it goes away, and also when keeping a finger touching the chassis whilst using the touchpad, it also hasn't happened yet. I didn't notice this under OSX so maybe there's some extra checks going on behind the scenes there for contact patch size or reduced touchpad sensitivity. Steps whilst plugged in, 1, use laptop for a while 2, two fingers together on touchpad (not touching anything else), swipe slowly and gently upwards to scroll the page 3, alt tab switcher opens, switches to next window, closes, instead of scrolling upwards Laptop unplugged or with a 3rd finger touching the metal body? [Bug 1677442] [NEW] openvpn client breaks on connection loss
Public bug reported: openvpn version 2.3.11-1ubuntu2 Kubuntu 16.10, all latest packages If while an openvpn connection is active, and said connection provides the main internet access, if a short underlying connection loss occurs, such as when used over wifi, the VPN connection will fail completely, however remain active. What then ends up happening is the client will attempt to re-connect but immediately fail as it's using the existing, broken, VPN connection to connect to the server. The only way to resume network connections to normal is to manually de-activate the openvpn client via the network manager (ie; tell the active openVPN connection to disconnect). [Bug 1672099] Re: DNS loop, >5, 000 queries per second for minutes at a time
You're right, it turns out dnsmasq was only installed because I had installed polipo, which depends on the dnsmasq package. Purging polipo removes dnsmasq. I have been running polipo (with config files unmodified from default) for several years, including since fresh installing Ubuntu-Gnome 16.10. Only since the upgrade to 17.04 two weeks ago has this problem emerged. [Bug 1672099] Re: DNS loop, >5, 000 queries per second for minutes at a time
I just found that I can reproduce this loop state by reconnecting to my Wi-Fi access point. The storm starts right after this line, 5 seconds after the link comes up: systemd-resolved[1188]: Server 127.0.0.1 does not support DNSSEC, downgrading to non-DNSSEC mode. The (much shorter this time) syslog extract is attached. The only reference I can find to 127.0.0.53 in the settings (other than comment lines) is in /run/resolvconf/interface/systemd-resolved: nameserver 127.0.0.53 So I also don't know how dnsmasq gets that address unless it reads that config file for some reason (no mention of it in source), derives it from an incoming request, or gets it via D-Bus. ** Attachment added: "syslog_dns_storm_1.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/1672099/+attachment/4837813/+files/syslog_dns_storm_1.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1672099 Title: DNS loop, >5,000 queries per second for minutes at a time To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/1672099/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1683122] [NEW] mouse input permanently locks to a single window
Public bug reported: Once every few days or so, mouse/touchpad input in Gnome suddenly breaks. The mouse cursor still moves around the screen as usual, but all click events go to a random single window. Events such as clicks on parts of the screen outside that window, or even on other workspaces, are interpreted as events in that one window. Only the window content receives events; decorations (and in the case of gnome-terminal, even menus and scroll bars) do not. Keyboard input in other windows continues to work fine, as does Alt+Tab and Ctrl+Alt+arrows. Bizarrely, touchscreen input works just fine. And if the touchscreen is used to change to a different window, that window (or a nearby window) may then become the single window selected for mouse input. If the affected window is closed, another window is selected to receive input in the same way. The only way to clear the problem is to log out of Gnome. [Bug 1683122] Re: mouse input permanently locks to a single window
Workaround: rmmod usbhid ; sleep 1 ; modprobe usbhid This clears the problem. Also tried rmmod hid_multitouch and psmouse, neither of which seemed to do anything. I don't see how this could be a kernel module problem, however. Seems more likely that removing the module resets something in gnome-shell. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1683122 Title: mouse input permanently locks to a single window To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1683122/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1685564] [NEW] swapops.h bug causes soft lockup, takes down entire network stack
Public bug reported: Unlocked the computer to find Thunderbird in an infinite loop and the system barely usable, with no networking. ifconfig and netstat -r both locked up without returning data. Apport would not complete until after a reboot, so I collected some log output (attached).
