It seems that it's still here for me, with hardy and 2.2.2.1-ubuntu12.
Where can I find info on how downgrade this driver in a reversible way? I am
testing kernel 2.6.26 and y'know, when testng kernels console is _quite_
useful...

[Gutsy backport] Cannot switch to console after installing
Venky,
I tried it, and yes, with alsa 1.0.15rc3 it sort of works, but with the
problems I signalled before: mic level is low, and it's plagued by a very high
offset. Have you tried to see if it's the case for you? Is very easily seen
with audacity. See my reports on the alsa bug entry:
venky80:
I'm confused... you said it worked in Arch Linux (which kernel) with the
latest Alsa drivers (which I suppose are 1.0.15rc3) and that it didn't
work in ubuntu with the same latest alsa divers?

Ben,
I am willing to help to test this. I have a similar laptop to the one of venky
(toshiba U305),
vendor-id 0x1179, 0xff50, and I am running Feisty with a vanilla (Linus')
2.6.23-rc9 kernel, plus I have tried various alsa drivers.
I want to be sure to do the right thing, so...

help more.

the patch here:
ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/akpm/patches/2.6/2.6.23-rc8/2.6.23-rc8-mm2/broken-out/git-alsa.patch
that I think will be pushed to 2.6.24 at an early stage of development.

No audio INTEL HD audio - Realtek ALC268 codec
Hi,
just an update: using the last HG driver on top of a 2.6.23 rc kernel
the sound system of my toshiba A305 works ok (loading the module with
model=toshiba parameter), including microphone, external/internal.

Hi,
I didn't try gutsy kernel (2.6.22) because I need a 2.6.23 for other things
(namely, suspend to ram) to work. And you know, s2ram *must* work, otherwise
you loose 90% of the functionality of a laptop. But I suppose it should work.
If I have a bit of time (I have two very bad weeks ahead)
Venky:
The HG snapshot is at
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/alsa/snapshot/driver
Mahdi:
2.6.23-rc5 do suspend to ram perfectly with s2ram -f -p -m, no patches needed.
Someone told me that the failure with previous kernels is SATA-related, but I
lost the reference.
Recording is quite
Venky,
I had the same problem; I just recompiled the driver and installed it.
Lib, utils etc are at 1.0.14.

Bugs,
Modem seems to work, but it simply responds to AT commands, on
connection it fails with NO CARRIER.
Do not try releases... I think it's better to try the current driver ---
the tight interdependencies between driver, lib and utils should be a
thing of the past, Linus himself ruled that out
Venky:
no I am not using any patch. No problem till now... (well, minus the
offset value of mic input).
Mahdi:
Unfortunately what I understand from this interchange of messages on
lkml: http://lkml.org/lkml/2007/9/5/166 is that the changes (acer and
toshiba quirks went in after 1.0.14 both) are
Anyone looking at the microphone issue? I am available to test
patches... to reboot in Vista to use VOIP is quite a bad thing, you
know... :-)))
Thanks!
