Yesthe Broadcom wireless cards are a big problem for Linux.
I have to ship my notebook off to HP to get the card replaced.
My card was fried.
I knew something was wrongs after installing the restricted drivers
because I could smell the 'Oh so familiar electric train set ozone
I just got my HP dv6000 laptop back from the factory after having my
Broadcom chipset replaced.
HP informed me that they replaced the brodcom chipset with a newer
version.
Well...guess what.the restricted drivers for Ubuntu 8.04, kernel
2.6.24-19-generic broke the newer chipset as well.
Since that bug, it's been upgraded to hardy. I hope it helps.

I believe I have the same bug but I'm not sure.
We have some older Gateway T6524's running 32bit installs of Karmic. We
get flickering screens when launching some apps: Firefox, Google-Earth,
AutoCad, Blueprint software, Topographic software, and so on. Sometimes
the machine flicker on and off

I can confirm it's still a problem. We just installed Jaunty on two new

We can't get the sound volume up at all. It's so low that a pin dropping
