[Bug 1431753] Re: Nvidia binary driver FTBS due to DKMS layer violation
Related to my comment above, I confirm that Steam application works fine with 331 but causes issues with 346. It complains about not enough disk space(not true) and partition having no execute bit(not true) Although I can't test again, I believe unity-greeter hanging issue I experienced (after entering password) was also due to changes in 346 build. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1431753 Title: Nvidia binary driver FTBS due to DKMS layer violation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-331/+bug/1431753/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1431753] Re: Nvidia binary driver FTBS due to DKMS layer violation
This fix works for me although I could not properly test any 3D applications. My Steam client is acting weird and does not see my installed games anymore, complaining about partition being non- executable. Also it was hanging at after entering password. I had to create a new user and start fresh. Hardware: GTX 770M with 3GB on Asus G751-JX laptop. Here are simple steps to test without getting too much into proposed: (for 14.04) 1) Run Software Updates application, 2) Click on Updates tab, 3) Tick on Pre-release updates (trusty-proposed) and hit Close button. 4) Authorize the change and close. It will ask for refreshing software information. Hit Reload and allow this. 5) Run the same app again on item 1 above and go to Additional Drivers tab. Now you should see 346 and 340 builds. Chose what you need and hit Apply Changes 6) After you are done, reboot first to test. You can repeat steps 1-3 again and disable proposed in order to avoid installing proposed packages for other applications.

I installed linux- image-3.9.0-030900rc8-generic_3.9.0-030900rc8.201304211835_amd64.deb and was able to boot. Headers file gave error and did not install. 3.9.0 kernel recognized webcam but behaved same as current kernel (3.2.0-39-generic). Please see comment #4. I have 2 applications which apears to be losing control of webcam after 30 seconds. kernel-bug-exists-upstream ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1171251 Title: webcam is no longer detected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1171251/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1171251] Re: webcam is no longer detected
I am using 3.2.0-39 now but this kernel is far from being perfect. I use webcam with skype or Gtalk browser plugin. Now in most cases, webcam works for short period of time (like 30 secs) then freeze and later light goes off. When I restart application, it works again and does the same thing. Occasionally webcam works with no issues for hours. This happens only sometimes when I turn it off briefly during first 30 seconds and turn back on again. This was fully functional in earlier kernels, especially when I first installed 12.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1171251 Title: webcam is no longer detected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1171251/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
