[Bug 1356113] Re: PHP5 session clean cron job causes OOM

2015-08-31 Thread Sezer Yalcin
I just noticed 800+ processes on my raspberry pi 2 ubuntu 14.04, all
were spawns from this cron.

Although cron script is bad in terms of cpu use, I see it's set to run
every 30 minutes. So I am also thinking something else is also going on,
probably some hanging with lsof anyways.

This script can be run once a day (not 48 times a day as currently).
Session information is stored in /tmp so if you don't get it full, you
may even disable it completely, especially if you don't use php much.

[Bug 1431753] Re: Nvidia binary driver FTBS due to DKMS layer violation

2015-08-11 Thread Sezer Yalcin
Please keep your subjective comments to yourself. This is a bug report.
Even Linus said Nvidia is very ignorant about linux. So if you need graphics
with less issues, but Intel which really pays attention to linux. or Use ATI
and see the worst!

Nvidia's self packaged drivers always fail at distro specific script. So
they really don't care much. Their target customer is GTA5 players who
spend rich dad's money, not blender users with limited budget.

After ATI experience, I am glad Nvidia works somehow.

[Bug 1431753] Re: Nvidia binary driver FTBS due to DKMS layer violation

2015-07-30 Thread Sezer Yalcin
Related to my comment above, I confirm that Steam application works fine
with 331 but causes issues with 346. It complains about not enough disk
space(not true) and partition having no execute bit(not true)

Although I can't test again, I believe unity-greeter hanging issue I
experienced (after entering password) was also due to changes in 346
build.

[Bug 1431753] Re: Nvidia binary driver FTBS due to DKMS layer violation

2015-07-29 Thread Sezer Yalcin
This fix works for me although I could not properly test any 3D
applications. My Steam client is acting weird and does not see my
installed games anymore, complaining about partition being non-
executable. Also it was hanging at after entering password. I had to
create a new user and start fresh.

Hardware: GTX 770M with 3GB on Asus G751-JX laptop.

Here are simple steps to test without getting too much into proposed: (for
14.04)
1) Run Software Updates application,
2) Click on Updates tab,
3) Tick on Pre-release updates (trusty-proposed) and hit Close button.
4) Authorize the change and close. It will ask for refreshing software
information. Hit Reload and allow this.
5) Run the same app again on item 1 above and go to Additional Drivers tab.
Now you should see 346 and 340 builds. Chose what you need and hit Apply
Changes
6) After you are done, reboot first to test. You can repeat steps 1-3 again and
disable proposed in order to avoid installing proposed packages for other
applications.

[Bug 1171251] Re: 174f:5a31 Webcam is no longer detected

2013-10-28 Thread Sezer Yalcin
Webcam works fine on 10.04 LTS live usb image. It has kernel 2.6.32-38
I will try to check that bisection thing soon but logs tell that this could be
related to usb power settings.
I believe this worked with 3.x kernel sometime, I will try to find that too.

[Bug 1171251] Re: 174f:5a31 Webcam is no longer detected

2013-08-07 Thread Sezer Yalcin
I don't see a change in 3.11 kernel. It detected webcam and works for some
seconds then after a while it stops. Then /dev/video0 totally disappear.
This is the same behavior with current 3.2.0-51 kernel.
Previously I tested other 3.x kernels.

[Bug 1176051] [NEW] webcam freezes after 10-30 seconds

2013-05-03 Thread Sezer Yalcin
Public bug reported:

This is probably a kernel module or low level library problem (gsteamer?) Same
issue happens with other webcam applications including:
Skype (4.1.20)
Google Gtalk browser plugin.

I would be happy to point this to right direction.

Further error output from cheese:

[Bug 1171251] Re: webcam is no longer detected

2013-05-03 Thread Sezer Yalcin
I filed a new bug for cheese (1176051) with further debug information.
But i do think this is related to kernel as issue exists on all webcam
apps.

I updated kernel to
3.2.0-41-generic #66-Ubuntu SMP Thu Apr 25 03:27:11 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64
x86_64 GNU/Linux
and issue is still there.

[Bug 1176051] Re: webcam freezes after 10-30 seconds

2013-05-03 Thread Sezer Yalcin
Looks like I missed last steps in backtrace generation. I will redo and upload
new file.
What I see now webcam showed up at /dev/video1 after failure then back to
/dev/video0.
Now I can't reproduce and it is working fine.
This happens on skype as well. I disconnect calls when webcam cause problems.
After a few tries, it is working fine.

[Bug 1171251] Re: webcam is no longer detected

2013-04-24 Thread Sezer Yalcin
I installed linux-
image-3.9.0-030900rc8-generic_3.9.0-030900rc8.201304211835_amd64.deb and
was able to boot. Headers file gave error and did not install.

3.9.0 kernel recognized webcam but behaved same as current kernel
(3.2.0-39-generic). Please see comment #4. I have 2 applications which
apears to be losing control of webcam after 30 seconds.

[Bug 1171251] Re: webcam is no longer detected

2013-04-22 Thread Sezer Yalcin
I am using 3.2.0-39 now but this kernel is far from being perfect.

I use webcam with skype or Gtalk browser plugin. Now in most cases, webcam
works for short period of time (like 30 secs) then freeze and later light goes
off.
When I restart application, it works again and does the same thing.

Occasionally webcam works with no issues for hours. This happens only
sometimes when I turn it off briefly during first 30 seconds and turn
back on again.

This was fully functional in earlier kernels, especially when I first
installed 12.04.
