Update: I tried IP addresses and they work fine. Gutsy has no problems
with IP addresses - can't seem to utilise domain names. Indicates that
SAMBA is correctly operating but not transparent.user friendly as was
the default in Feisty.
Q: Is a package missing? Or is this a regression?

Using Synaptic, force downgrade of the following 4 packages: "hal;
hal-device-manager; libhal1; libhal-storage1". Once that is done, LOCK
the version. Then only use the GUI of update manager to do updates, or

Yes, This has also happened to me on a Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop.
This (Suspend) & (Hibernate) are very important features on a laptop.
Please address this ASAP. Current workaround is to (from within
Synaptic) to FORCE a downgrade and LOCK the old version.

Turned out to be the nVIDIA drivers incorrectly installed - don't know
why. Uninstalled them, and then reinstalled them, everything works.
Something to do with improper OpenGL/GLX setup.

i8k module for Dell Laptops is loaded st start-up and runs well, reports temps
and fans speeds. However, it does not automatically turn the fans on when

seems to have effected (HAL? DBUS?) fans - they do not turn on.
Resting temp is 56oC; load temp is 70oC. Still hotter than dapper.

The 2.6.20.9 fiesty fawn kernel runs hot (temperature wise). The temps
are +10 to +20 above dapper on upgraded Dell i8100 machine. Resting
temperature is 60oC to 70oC. Could be an ACPI preset. If so, how to
adjust to get the fans to knock the temp down.

After 101 MB update (March 8; 6 PM EST) Problem seems to have been
partially solved. SLIDESHOW works with 1.0-9631 nVIDIA driver.
Ooimpress still crashes on closing of the file.
Running "glxgears" from the command line results in very low FPS
performance on fullscreen window.
Here is output:
$ g
Uncommenting line (48) in /usr/bin/office did have a small effect on the
timing of the crash. When line (48) is commented out, the first slide
appears in the full screen of the slide show and then a crash occurs.
When commented "in" read by system; only a blank (black) screen and then
a crash.
