I have the same problem. My printer is an HP PSC 1610xi that worked
fine in Edgy, but now isn't detected in Feisty. It is connected via
USB, and isn't recognized by the system at all. lsusb shows no printer
connected.

ctrl + alt + F1 to take effect and give a commandline. Even

I am hit by this bug at it seems.
This is quite annoying and open since 2009, anything I can do to help have this
solved? I am not all a programmer but I can run some tests and command if
necessary

Using libreoffice 3.3.3 or 3.4.1 I have no short-edged duplex in printer
properties of LO print dialog. Only long-edged.
I use Canon IR1024A printer and it supports short-edged duplex,
system-config-printer tools are fully aware of it.

good question. I had some problems during the installation process
(e.g. skype:i386 - bug in dpkg) or my openGL runs not very stable
(Lenovo x121e (Intel I3 with integrated Intel HD 3000)) but I think I
didn't change any desktop configuration.
