levels using ALSA mixer? Try maxing the audio levels as well as
muting/unmute. Sometimes the devices initialize with mute on. Even if
alsamixer says the channels are unmuted try muting and unmuting.

May I suggest you turn on S.M.A.R.T in your BIOS. This feature will
watch you hard-drive to see if it is starting to fail. When the fault
happens again, I would check to see if the S.M.A.R.T. feature is

OO 2.3 is completely unusable at present. Opening any document makes OO

I have been putting up with this problem ever since I moved to Feisty.
It is just getting worse which is why I am now looking for a solution to
it but it seems that one does not exist as the root cause has not been
determined.
I also do not think it is an IMAP or LDAP issue but something to

I have the same problem. I am using the default Gnome desktop (I think
the manager is Metacity?). I insert names for the desktops and save
them but on reopening, they have dissapeared. However, if I switch to
another manager

When I move a window to another workspace, the list of workspaces DOES
show the workspace names so the information is definitely there and
correct but the panel icons for the workspaces are not picking them up.

Gutsy ships with ipw3945 1.2.1 which fixes some issues with driver not
waking up in some cases. It fixed suspend problems on my laptop.
I'm not sure does this driver ship with later Feisty kernels, but at
least the 2.6.20-13 and previous shipped with 1.2.0. You can override
this manually

Just switched over to WPA2 AES and I have not had a problem with my
lagging wireless or any dmsg's.

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 on a Dell Optiplex GX280.
I'm not completely sure that the network-manager-applet is to blame; it
might be some other package it depends on. Maybe it's not even a bug,
although this behavior seems like a bug to me.
