Select Fcitx as input method, log out, log in again. The GUI (gnome)
becomes extremely sluggish, and does not react to keyboard input any
more after a couple of seconds. CTRL-Alt-Backspace luckily works. After
several attempts I managed to change the input method back to Ibus
I've run the upgrade and rebooted and the settings are now read
correctly (the screen layout and scaling were preserved after the
restart).
Nothing more needed at this point, issue appears fixed to me.

I tried installing 18.04.3 on an Intel Compute Stick (x64 atom), which

Please merge
Apparently, the problem still persists on some sites, like creating new
folders on Google Drive. So I debugged the issue and finally found that
this problem is created by the "Enable Right Click and Copy" plugin.
That plugin seems anyway to be out of date so I removed it. Should get
used to
