[Bug 41301] Re: Mouse clicks stop working sporadically
Reopening. I can confirm this is happening again. The only app I can think which would be doing that is flash - I had at least one page with flash open every time in firefox when it happened (and it happened a good dozen of times), and I see other reporters using opera/epiphany at the time it happens. Switching tty does not fix it. Switching desktop does not fix it. Restarting X seems to be the only way to fix it, although suggestions would be good on something less annoying. Keyboard input is still perfectly fine. Mouse pointer still follows in X - the cursor is there and moving, sometimes changing when hovering a text area and so on. In an application replacing the cursor (tested with a few games under Wine), the cursor will be present where it died in the application and never move - the X cursor will be duplicate and not replaced when hovering the app. Keyboard input works perfectly. Dual monitor 1680x1050, nVidia 9800GTX+ proprietary 180.11 drivers. Xinerama enabled. Xlib: extension RANDR missing on display :0.0. also appears when starting GUI apps, although I don't think that's related. A second usb mouse is connected, and behaves exactly like the first one. [Bug 227452] [NEW] Tweak/Merge nautilus search and selection features
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Nautilus currently has a useful ctrl-s feature that selects certain files in the current folder. However, as pointed out here*, there is no real way to do anything with the result. Here is my proposition to tweak the process. Similar to the quicksearch in firefox/gedit, a small hidden bar pops up on shortcut and lets the user find files given a pattern in the current folder. Two tick boxes are present, one to force case matching, and the other to hide non matching files. Hiding non matching files just results into files being hidden until they match the pattern or the pattern is cleared. This box should be off by default - someone accidentally hiding files who doesn't know about this could get annoyed. I suppose this could easily get nice plugins such as an advanced search with further options such as searching further folders for files (= list view), etc. I think such a feature would be a great asset and would give Nautilus a lot of the love it needs**. Side note; Think of differentiating search and foldersearch the way they are differentiated in most web browsers today: Page search is fast, gives what you want instantly. Full search is slower and the results need to be doublechecked. Apologies if this is the wrong section, unsure where wishlist items are posted. * http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/6155/ ** http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/6167/ ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Tweak/Merge nautilus search and selection features https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/227452 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 224911] [NEW] Nautilus can't handle big amount of files

I timed the opening of a folder of 160 000 folders on my desktop, 2.3GHz 2048MiB RAM: Konqueror: 77 seconds Windows Vista 64bit explorer: ~3 minutes Nautilus: About 20 minutes (!!) Why does it need to be so slow? Why can't Nautilus get the file list and display the first x items? Generally someone opening a folder with a huge amount of files only cares about a couple of files. Happened to me twice now. First time was when changing user. I changed user, and in the gdm I chose quit when asked for password. It displayed a blank screen. Second time was when going out of suspend mode. Once again, blank screen. Ill try to provide a backtrace next time. -- compiz.real crashed with signal 7 in eventLoop() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/181217 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This is likely related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/200338/ - does not happen in kernel 11. [Bug 200392] [NEW] Extreme memory leak in Pidgin on message reception
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pidgin Pidgin sits usually between 10mb and 12mb memory usage, but since a very recent update (today, 9th March), as soon as I recieve a message, the memory usage jumps within seconds to nearly a gigabyte. http://www.devcub.com/~adys/pidginleak.png Always reproducible on my computer. Tested with no other programs running. [Bug 200392] Re: Extreme memory leak in Pidgin on message reception
Ok, I found what was wrong after messing in .purple/prefs.xml pref name='sound' pref name='while_status' type='int' value='1'/ /pref The default value of 1 works. Changing this to pref name='sound' pref name='while_status' type='int' value='3'/ /pref will make the program die on message reception. -- Extreme memory leak in Pidgin on message reception https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/200392 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 197342] [NEW] Menu items unavailable if file has changed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gedit Certain menu items (notably all the ones in Search menu) become unavailable if file has changed, and gedit proposes the user to reload the file. This can be extremely annoying when working on files changing constantly, such as logs. Steps to reproduce: ( -1 Open a text file with gedit -2 Modify and save it through a third party program (such as nano) -3 Focus on gedit again, a message warning you the file has change and can be reloaded appears. Some menu items are unavailable as long as you don't answer the warning.
