It's not a solution, it's a (good, usually sufficient) workaround. This is
why it hasn't been placed in the actual package. I believe previous comments
have addressed the specific reasons.

Hmm, a broken pipe error. I've only ever seen that when my CD drive wasn't
working correctly. Can you test in a different program (e.g. Totem) to see if

This was a bug in past versions, but was fixed last October. It's possible
you're still using a version that predates that fix though; which version are
you using?
Also, as I just mentioned upstream, there is some unintuitive behavior that
happens with the Play Queue:
I wouldn't have expected so—with no upstream attention and no noticeable
updates—so I hadn't attempted again, but I just tried right now and it
seems to be fixed. Whatever it was must've been some growing pains.

Same thing is happening on Jaunty, with 2.6.28-6, but also with
