I can confirm this bug.
If i configure my network connection manually (via
/etc/network/interfaces), I get consistent speeds as expected in a
100Mb/s LAN.
However, if I use network-manager instead, speeds drop down to barely 2 MB/s.
This could be explained by the following messages, which then

The amount of bookmarks indeed seems to be part of the problem, yet I
also discovered something else.
First some information:
I have 78 bookmarks in total, in a hierarchy that is two subfolders deep. The
actual json-bookmark file exported by Firefox is 33KB in size.
I can confirm this bug.
Interestingly, of my two optical drives only one is affected. The other can be
ejected without a password.
The affected one:

On my machine with Nvidia graphics card 2.6.30-10 boots, but with

I can see Grub2, then the screen goes black for the whole boot process

On my machine the window title isn't missing completely but gets cut off a few
centimentres left of where the missing symbols would be.
So on a maximized window a lot of the window title shows, on a smaller window
less or even nothing of the title can be seen.
