[Bug 1921794] Re: connection to scanner very slow

2021-03-30 Thread Bartosz Kosiorek
Please open terminal and set following variable:

  export SANE_DEBUG_DLL=255

Then run simple-scan with command:

  simple-scan

The output should be similar to:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/simple-scan/-/tree/master

You could investigate which backend is taking so long from logs.

You could disable other (not hpaio) sane backends in file:

   sudo gedit /etc/sane.d/dll.conf

Thanks for bug report.
COuld you please run the simple-scan with debug mode (`simple-scan -d`) and
reproduce the issue.
Then attach the logs to the bug report.

Unfortunately attached `SimpleScanLog.txt` file is not enough.

[Bug 1907121] Re: simple-scan unable to connect scanner HP 2630

2020-12-08 Thread Bartosz Kosiorek
Generally you have two scanner backends:
* "escl:http://127.0.0.1:60001; vendor="HP" model="DeskJet 2600 series [665032]
(USB 1)"
* "hpaio:/usb/DeskJet_2600_series?serial=CN0569B27006PS"

The first is not working correctly.

[Bug 1871011] Re: USB scanning broken on focal --> hpmud and ippusbxd conflict

2020-04-21 Thread Bartosz Kosiorek
I have the similar issues with USB detection after upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04 on
my scanners (HP Laser MFP 135a - smfp backend and HP OfficeJet 4630 - hpaio
backend).
WIth

The hpaio scanner is detected on USB, but it is not able to communicate
(xsane, scanimage, simple-scan). Only scanning by network is working
correctly.

With HP Laser MFP 135a - smfp, it is not able to detect it on usb port.

I would like to investigate this issue further.
How did you enabled logs to investigate this issue?

I'm Simple-scan developer.

After upgrade from Ubuntu 18.04 to Ubuntu 20.04, both scanners stops working on

I think it is some issue with provileges/sane, but not directly to
simple-scan, xsane and scanimage.

2020-04-18 Thread Bartosz Kosiorek
I checked on Sane supported drivers, and your device is well supported
(pixma backend):

http://www.sane-project.org/sane-backends.html#S-PIXMA

"i-SENSYS MF240 Series Flatbed and ADF scan. All resolutions supported
(up to 600DPI, ADF up to 300DPI). 216mm image width buggy, restricted to
215mm."

Please install xsane and check if you could reproduce this issue.

[Bug 1869524] Re: Simple Scan doesn't load

2020-03-30 Thread Bartosz Kosiorek
Hi Charles.
I suspect that you have old schema in directory:
/usr/local/share

Please try to rename `/usr/local/share` directory to `/usr/local/share-
back` and check if it helps

[Bug 1869524] Re: Simple Scan doesn't load

2020-03-29 Thread Bartosz Kosiorek
Hi Charles.
I suspect that you have some custom installation of the Simple Scanner.
What is the output of the command:

$ which simple-scan

According to documentation:
https://packages.ubuntu.com/bionic/amd64/simple-scan/filelist
it shoule be:

 /usr/bin/simple-scan

Try to run simple-scan from `/usr/bin/simple-scan` location and check if
it is working for you.

I also checked and standard installation of the simple-scanner uses
correct library:

$ ldd /usr/bin/simple-scan
linux-vdso.so.1 (0x7ffebbff5000)
...
libsane.so.1 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libsane.so.1
(0x7f0e1510)
libcolord.so.2 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcolord.so.2
(0x7f0e14ee)
...

[Bug 1709890] Re: Simple Scan Ignores Back or Front & Back Selections Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500

2019-12-05 Thread Bartosz Kosiorek
Now I see the root cause of problem:
https://www.fujitsu.com/pl/products/computing/peripheral/scanners/scansnap/ix500/

Your scanner doesn't have FlatBed.
To workaround it you could use ADF feeder.

2016-07-25 Thread Bartosz Kosiorek
** Description changed:

  So, this is what happenes:

  1) Set an alarm
  2) When it goes on, press snooze
  3) Delete the alarm
  4) after the 10 minutes from the original time, it rings again
+
+
+ It looks also strange that even if alarm is Snoozed then it looks like to be
turned off.

[Bug 1489784] Re: No access to the FM tuner/radio on Aquaris Bq e4.5, e5 and m10

2016-07-24 Thread Bartosz Kosiorek
** Changed in: canonical-devices-system-image
   Status: In Progress => Confirmed

** Changed in: canonical-devices-system-image
Assignee: Sturm Flut (sturmflut) => (unassigned)

** Description changed:

- Device Aquaris BQ45 as a buitin hardware FM tuner.
+ Device Aquaris BQ e45, e5, m10 as a buitin hardware FM tuner.
On "factory" mode this device works.

The device does not seem known by the kernel and there is no API to
  develop an FM radio application.

The C code for the FM chip:
  https://github.com/Sturmflut/mtkfmcli
  Still missing Audio part.
-

Some more details from mailing list:

We discussed this topic lengthily on the list some time ago :) It's
not like we don't want to
support FM radio, but the lack of a common Android HAL for FM radio
  access would force us to
maintain an FM radio abstraction ourselves (more on that below). In
  addition, most of the device-specific
radio apps require elevated privileges to run as they directly access
the FM radio HW (not multiplexed by a system service).

  > For some reason Android doesn't have an FM radio API and leaves it up to

  > media-hub.
  >

If you are interested in helping to enable the functionality, the
correct chain for integrating the feature would be:

[1.] Add a (potentially limited) API to lp:platform-api, that exposes
a simple common C interface to the Ubuntu side.
[2.] Provide an implementation of the API in platform-api/android (see

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~phablet-team/platform-api/trunk/files/head:/android/)
[2.1] Provide a dummy fallback implementation for devices that do not
support FM radio of any kind.
[3.] Expose the respective hardware functionality to media-hub.
Multiple ways are possible, but we would need to significantly adjust
  the interfaces
to support fm radio semantics (switching stations, rds, automatic scans etc.)
[4.] Adjust Qt's radio abstraction and come up with a Ubuntu Touch
  specific backend implementation, that either:
[4.1] Leverages the API in [1.] directly (would require any app to
have special privileges in accessing the system).
[4.2] Leverages the API in [3.] (which is the clean way of
  integration FM radio support).

For starters, [1.], [2.], [2.1] and [4.1] should be good enough to get
  started.

  Cheers,
