[Bug 991692] Re: screen too bright after resume from suspend to RAM

2012-07-01 Thread Bram Bonné
The strange thing about this bug is that the notification bubble
(notify-osd) will display a modified brightness level when trying to
change the brightness. The screen however, stays maximally lit.

[Bug 763568] [NEW] Compiling to PDF for embedded preview will reset the document position to the first page

2011-04-17 Thread Bram Bonné
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit-latex-plugin

When the embedded preview pane is open, recompiling the LaTeX code to
PDF using Ctrl+Alt+2 will reset the document's position to the first
page, causing the user to scroll all the way back to the page it was

I changed it a while ago, and it never changed the appointments time
with it. However, I have now set it to 12h and then afterwards to 24h,

[Bug 731854] Re: Search Files Folders does not ever find folders, only files

2011-03-20 Thread Bram Bonné
It would make sense to include folders in the results here. My reasoning
behind this is that a user will expect to be searching the 'files and
folders' that are visible when accessing the filesfolders screen, just
like he is able to search the applications that are visible when
accessing the applications screen. Just my 2 cents.

[Bug 711761] [NEW] Gnome preferred browser not honored on using gnome-open or xdg-open

2011-02-02 Thread Bram Bonné
Public bug reported:

In my 'standard applications', Firefox is set as the default browser.
However, when clicking a link anywhere, or when using gnome-open or xdg-
open to open a link, the link will open in chromium. When midori was

sudo update-alternatives --config x-www-browser didn't help either. The
default selection there is also firefox.

[Bug 632323] [NEW] Lamp warmup time on Epson Perfection 1250 should be 0, instead of -1

2010-09-07 Thread Bram Bonné
Public bug reported:

In /etc/sane.d/plustek.conf (the configuration file used for the Epson
Perfection 1250), the lamp warmup time is set to -1. This should auto-
detect the right warmup time. However, for this particular scanner, it
doesn't. Manually editing the line in the config file to read

option warmup 1

effectively solves the problem.

[Bug 525280] Re: Banshee needs a monochrome icon

2010-04-13 Thread Bram Bonné
For people looking for a solution: you can always install the banshee
indicator applet (as per instructions here
http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2010/04/how-to-add-banshee-indicator-applet-
in.html). This way, you do not only get a nice looking icon; you also
now have banshee with the indicator applets. Maybe it should be the
default to have the indicator applet extension installed and enabled,
since we want as many as possible applications to migrate to the
indicator applets?

[Bug 359740] [NEW] Volume control should change slower when loud and faster when silent

2009-04-11 Thread Bram Bonné
Public bug reported:

The gnome volume control (that works with media keys) changes too fast when the
volume is almost maxed, and very slowly when the volume is low. This causes the
sound to be almost completely silent when the volume bar is halfway.
Since the human ear is sensitive to volume at an logaritmic scale
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decibel#Acoustics), the volume control should
work accordingly.
Occuring on a Dell Latitude D830, but most likely on most other models.

[Bug 335197] Re: cGmail should support the new Ubuntu notification system

[Bug 335197] Re: cGmail should support the new Ubuntu notification system

2009-03-30 Thread Bram Bonné
Next is the e-mail I sent to Tom Vetterlein, which contains some
additional info regarding the bug:

You can find more info on the freedesktop notification specification, more
specific in the following paragraph:
http://www.galago-project.org/specs/notification/0.9/x408.html#command-get-capabilities
It seems that it's possible to call the GetCapabilities() method using DBus.
Since it already sends the notification via DBus, this shouldn't be too hard.
GetCapabilities() will then return if 'actions' are supported. If this is the
case, it is safe to include the buttons. Otherwise, they should be avoided.
This can be done in the if-test I described in my previous comment.

[Bug 335197] Re: cGmail should support the new Ubuntu notification system

2009-03-30 Thread Bram Bonné
I edited notifier.py here to do just that, but I've only been able to test it
on systems with the new notification system (so I don't guarantuee that it will
work on systems that DO support actions, although it should).
I wasn't able to find the original file to create a patch, so here is the code
that should be inserted instead of

   if buttons:
actions = [openbrowser, _(Go to Gmail Account),\
   mailreader, _(Open mail reader)]

this is the replacement:

   # Check if the notification system supports actions
   capabilitiesMethod =
 self.notif.get_dbus_method(GetCapabilities)
   capabilities = capabilitiesMethod()
   actionsSupport = actions in capabilities

   if buttons and actionsSupport:
actions = [openbrowser, _(Go to Gmail Account),\
   mailreader, _(Open mail reader)]

[Bug 261858] Re: jokosher crashed with UnboundLocalError in DrawWaveform()

2008-09-21 Thread Bram Bonné
Same problem here, so I can confirm this has nothing to do with the fact
that the mic was USB.

[Bug 216316] Re: epiphany-gecko crashed with SIGSEGV

2008-04-14 Thread Bram Bonné
I forgot to mention here:
Apparently this is related to the pulseaudio-bug filed as being a firefox bug
for many times. However, this has (afaik) never been submitted as a pulseaudio
bug, and I don't have the knowledge to submit one.

The problem is solved (in both firefox as epiphany) by just 'killall
pulseaudio' (or like some say, deleting the flash-support file for
pulseaudio) so it will just be streamed trough alsa.

Imo this is a *serious* bug (flash movies crash a LOT without warning,
and a lot of users will be viewing flash movies), so maybe we should
consider disabling pulseaudio for flash.

But, as I said, I don't feel like I have the knowledge to submit a bug
report about this. If anyone does, please mark this as duplicate of that
one.

[Bug 216281] Re: Selecting Xfce Session logs me in to a blank screen

2008-04-12 Thread Bram Bonné
Confirmed here.
I just installed xfce4, with gnome as my default session.
After login and selecting xfce session I just get a blank screen.

Re: [Bug 131133] Re: [gutsy] no sound on Dell Latitude D630/D830/Inspiron 1300/Precision M4300/Vostro 1500/1700/Apple Aluminium iMac/Acer TM6292 pci id 8086:284b

2007-10-17 Thread Bram Bonné
It seems to work, although now I'm getting the problem I had in the very
beginning, that is that when I mute the sound (or put it lower than the
maximum volume), it keeps getting louder (yes, even when muted!). It helps
just to use the 'Front' volume switch instead of the 'Main' one, just the
way the module-assistant fix handled it (it attached the hardware volume
controls to the 'Front' slider).

+1 for letting the restricted drivers manager handle this!

If the release can't be delayed, then I think restricted-manager should
 pop up
 and offer installing the driver.

2007-10-08 Thread Bram Bonné
Great idea! We should really make them aware about the fact that this is a
really serious bug which affects a lot of people, including everyone
studying Computer Science at my university who bought a laptop here! This is
quite serious, since now no one of them is willing to use Ubuntu!
