Public bug reported:
The xulrunner-1.9 package ships its own copy of cairo, rather than using
the one installed with libcairo2. One of the side effects is that it
doesn't include the lcd-filter patch added in Ubuntu.
xulrunner-1.9 should either be modified to use the system's libcairo or

gutsy beta detects it as a 1024x768 (older versions worked correctly).
After setting the right value with displayconfig-gtk it changes it
correctly on-the-fly but writes a bad xorg.conf, so the next startup of
the Xorg server is incorrect.
I have the same problem.
Attached is the file created by displayconfig-gtk.

Public bug reported:
The gtk-about and gtk-help icons appear in most applications, under
their Help menu (Help-About and Help-Contents, respectively). The two
icons have very similar design (letter on a blue circle) but the About
icon is bigger.
The Help icon should be redesigned to match the
I have this bug on a GMA950 card with compiz 0.5.2+git20070918-0ubuntu4
with the latest gutsy updates (on a fresh install from 20070921.1 daily-

When installing a flash plugin (gnash or flashplugin-nonfree) the user

Public bug reported:
The Focus action uses the Dodge effect by default, which is a bit too
distracting in my opinion.
I'd like to suggest not using this effect if only Normal Effects are
selected; for Extra Effects it's probably ok.

Have you tried a Gutsy alpha release yet?
I would also suggest you try Dell's Feisty remaster. They tested it
against the Inspiron 1420, but it should be very similar to your Vostro.

The gnome-panel 2.18.0-0ubuntu3 System menu includes a separator between
the Help and Support and About GNOME entries. There's no separator
in this case in upstream GNOME, and I think there shouldn't be one here
too.
The menu would look like
I also see this bug. After maximizing a window I can no longer use its

from wnck-applet.

Follow up to previous comment:
The desktop-effects capplet simply disables the wobbly plugin
(/apps/compiz/general/allscreens/options/active_plugins) if you choose
to disable wobbly effects. This is what's causing problems.
The way I found to disable the wobbly effect without causing compiz to
I'm attaching an updated patch that applies cleanly against linux-

The updated patch should be applied inside the sound/pci/hda directory,
where only the patch_analog.c file is changed.
