[Bug 99437] Re: umount: mount disagrees with the fstab
That's great, even though I'm not technical enough to understand what the patch actually did. However, I was wondering: it is ok to allow unprivileged users to mount/umount removable devices, but what about fixed devices? Wouldn't it be better if general users be able to mount/umount fixed drives only if they are part of some special group, e.g. mount ? Suppose that I, as sysadmin of my home PC, have another HD that I use for backup... I surely wouldn't like my mom or my sister messing around that hd... [Bug 109502] [Feisty] After install, xorg wont run, Failed to load module nvidia (module does not exist)
Public bug reported: My friend tried to install Ubuntu Feisty Fawn on his PC (which has a nvidia gfx card): loaded the system with the Live CD and installed it alright. Upon first boot, xorg couldnt start, droping to the console with the following error: Failed to load module nvidia (module does not exist) I thought that it could may be a defective CD, however, I noticed another user complaining about this on the #ubuntu chat. User diabolikmachine mentioned that this was probably related to the fact that the user tried to enable desktop effects on the live cd (and I am sure that my friend tried that as well). SOLUTION: diabolikmachine suggested to that user to do a command line login, and run sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx The user reported that the problem was fixed. Anyway, I think that this bug can really mess the will of newcomers to adopt ubuntu, since that many of them will try out the features in the live CD before installing. If, upon install, they must do a command line like that, I think that that will be a little intimidating. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Changed in: Ubuntu Status: Unconfirmed = Confirmed -- [Feisty] After install, xorg wont run, Failed to load module nvidia (module does not exist) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/109502 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Using Feisty RC 20070415 I can confirm this. The toolbar keeps attached to the cursor, and clicking to place the toolbar on the right place was simply erratic (other windows gained focus or maximized). The only solution was to close gdesklets, by right clicking the icon on the taskbar and selecting close (with the toolbar still attached). -- Unable to position Taskbar type Desklets (Infodomestics specifically, others fail also) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/66473 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 92652] Re: C-cedil not present in US-International keyboard
I must say that this behaviour is a let down for portuguese/brazilian users. At least for me (BR), I'm very well used to typing ' and C to produce Ç , and I really hope that someday this can work in ubuntu out of the box . After all, internationalization isn't a priority of this distro? When I give out free ubuntu CD's to my friends, I expect them to use it and enjoy it as much as I do - but it ruins my advocacy when one of them calls me to ask why am I getting ć 's instead of ç 's when using OpenOffice... not being able to TYPE correctly is surely a serious problem for me. -- C-cedil not present in US-International keyboard https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/92652 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 72468] Re: Trash looks empty, isn't
Using Feisty RC 20070415 here, with Beryl. I dont know if this happened when I changed window managers from Beryl to metacity and vice versa, but Im looking now at an empty recycle bin in the right corner of my screen that contains 12 files that were previously in my Desktop before I deleted them. BTW, when I hover the mouse pointer over the trash bin, a popup message reads No items in Trash. When I right click it, the option to empty the recycle bin greyed out too. So, I can confirm this bug. -- Trash looks empty, isn't https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/72468 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
