I did run the ubuntu-bug command suggested by the installer error message and
thats why you see a bug logged here.

i get exactly the same error message, it appears after the burning and results
in an unusable disc.
xubuntu versions: 8.10 and 9.04
software: brasero and gnome-baker
hardware: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4160B A302, configured for UDMA/66
nautilus will take a .iso file and claims to burn it to dvd
it turns out my drive didnt support dvd+r media
but there is a firmware upgrade to A306 which makes it work!
i tested wodim and brasero.

Thanks Someone, that worked for me when i got the Internal error with
pcfg_openfile() in Hardy!
In my experience the problem with the auth_mysql module seems to be that
the config variables keep changing with every new version.

gutsy does not have a working apache+mysql authentication
There is no link at /usr/lib/xulrunner-addons/plugins/.
I created one and removed the one at /usr/lib/firefox-addons-plugins/.
about:plugins shows the GCJ Web Browser Plugin 0.96.1 section.

firefox prompted to use the plugin-finder to install a java plugin.
i checked about:plugins and there was no java plugin support.
i clicked to start the plugin-finder and it presented a list of
correction:
i used synaptic to remove it and then re-installed gcjwebplugin
but that did NOT make the firefox plugin appear in about:plugins

i didnt want any samba support,
so instead i commented out all the lines in the files in /etc/pam.d containing
pam_smbpass .
the lines were all 'optional' but maybe there is a bug in the new pam that

i tried to install the Xubuntu-alternate iso on a Celeron 600 with 64MB RAM and
10GB disk.
it took about 2h storing language-en-base and then later on in the install at
least 16h (overnight and then i was away at work) configuring language files.
it was at 67% installing when i got home from

it succeeds testing freshly burnt CDs.
it fails testing freshly burnt DVDs, saying operation not supported.
