[Bug 1441008] Re: under systemd avahi-daemon doesn't stay disabled when .local is detected
The 3rd level is a good indicator that we really want a proper DNS name. I did investigate this very briefly back when this problem first occurred. I also think that the nsswitch alteration is a good solution in the short term. The issue on the long term is that people with .local domain will see a decrease in performance in name resolution. I'm not sure how the nss module works internally, as in how fast it returns after an invalid request, so I don't know what the actual effect is. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1441008 Title: under systemd avahi-daemon doesn't stay disabled when .local is detected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/avahi/+bug/1441008/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1441008] [NEW] avahi-daemon doesn't stay disabled when .local is detected
Public bug reported: When avahi daemon detects .local unicast domain, the daemon is disabled. When a user tries to resolve a domain name through nss, the daemon starts up. The root cause is most likely in systemd that starts the daemon when an application tries to access the socket through the systemd managed socket file. This behavior wasn't observed in 14.10 or earlier releases, thus the assumption towards systemd socket activation. [Bug 378240] Re: Please merge xen 4.0.1-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main)
Here is a debdiff for the package. As for the freeze exception, most of the rationale is already mentioned here. But to recap: Xen packaging in Ubuntu is outdated and originates from a source outside of Debian. This patch will allow the usage of Debian xen package in Ubuntu. This package requires pulling xen-common package from Debian as well as rebuilding libvirt with libxen-dev as the dependency. Current Xen packaging is horribly outdated and will hurt Ubuntu's image if a release is made with it. ** Patch added: Debdiff between Debian package 4.0.1-2 and Ubuntu package 4.0.1-2ubuntu1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xen/+bug/378240/+attachment/1894825/+files/deb.diff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/378240 Title: Please merge xen 4.0.1-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 378240] Re: Please merge xen 4.0.1-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main)
I can forward the fixes to Debian, but both of the patches originate from upstream and they are pulled to Debian anyway later on. So unless we can justify a freeze exception for the package there is little point in overloading the Debian maintainers. Renaming the source is only natural, since Debian already uses xen as the source package name. As for libvirt, the dependency on 3.3 is a build time dependency and my version of libvirt changes that (and that way reverts the package closer to the debian original). In any case, I'll start preparing the debdiffs and exception request. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/378240 Title: Please merge xen 4.0.1-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 378240] Re: Please merge xen 4.0.1-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main)
Sadly libvirt needs to be changed. xen and xen-3.3 packages provide conflicting binary packages and thus xen-3.3 needs to be removed in favor of xen. This leaves libvirt uninstallable. Not to mention that most tools today that make use of xen use libvirt and so libvirt needs to be rebuilt (that's pretty much all that needs to be done) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/378240 Title: Please merge xen 4.0.1-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 378240] Re: Please merge xen 4.0.1-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main)
I've created a package set for Xen 4.0.1 based on the debian packages with minimal changes. They are available in my PPA, but i'd love to file the appropriate bugs and so on if I only knew what to report and where. There doesn't appear to be a policy for this sort of thing. The packages are available for natty at https://launchpad.net/~ressu/+archive/ppa Essentially, this change affects 3 source packages. xen-common (which can be built as is), libvirt which needs adjustments in build depends (libxen3-dev - libxen-dev) and of course xen itself. Xen needs 2 additional patches and minor modifications for the debian package. The 2 patches fix build process and python 2.7 compatibility. Only other modifications are build dependency modifications. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/378240 Title: Please merge xen 4.0.1-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 378240] Re: Please merge xen 4.0.1-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main)
And as a note, I don't think it is a good idea to start this mess all over again, by packaging 4.1 outside of the Debian packages. [Bug 550131] Re: initramfs missing /var/run/mdadm dir (loosing state)
this issue can be identified from the initramfs by checking the current md devices. [Bug 136252] Re: [karmic] mdadm.conf w/o ARRAY lines but udev/mdadm not assembling arrays.
The problem would appear to be in the --incremental flag, it is unable to create the map file for the arrays already created and mdadm gets confused. A quick fix is to add this to the mdadm hook in initramfs: # Create runtime directory for incremental map mkdir -p ${DESTDIR}/var/run/mdadm My machine still doesn't activate lvm properly though, but that would be a different issue =) -- [karmic] mdadm.conf w/o ARRAY lines but udev/mdadm not assembling arrays. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/136252 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 541058] Re: mdadm fails to assemble raid during boot
Confirming the bug. This is caused by udev trying to assemble the md device with --incremental. The /var/run/mdadm directory is missing from the initramfs image and the array map is not created and mdadm gets confused. The solution is to add the following line to /usr/share/initramfs- tools/hooks/mdadm mkdir -p ${DESTDIR}/var/run/mdadm After this, the array is assembled correctly on boot ** Changed in: mdadm (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- mdadm fails to assemble raid during boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/541058 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 255242] Re: Window title doesn't respect LC_MESSAGES
Marking the bug invalid here. As it was pointed out in the gnome bug, this is the expected behaviour. The terminal title is set when creating the profile. So locale changes don't affect the title. ** Changed in: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- Window title doesn't respect LC_MESSAGES https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/255242 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 255242] [NEW] Window title doesn't respect LC_MESSAGES
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-terminal The window title in gnome-terminal doesn't respect the LC_MESSAGES variable while the rest of the text in gnome-terminal does. This can easily be reproduced by setting the following: LANG=fi_FI.UTF_8 LC_MESSAGES=en_US.UTF-8 and by running something that doesn't change the window title. My zsh setup does change it so i tested by running a single application within: gnome-terminal -e alsamixer tested with 2.23.4.2-0ubuntu2 ** Affects: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Window title doesn't respect LC_MESSAGES https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/255242 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
