[Bug 145886] Re: gmail entry missing in thunderbird account wizard on non english locale

2018-07-22 Thread Wrwrwr
Huh, this report is nearly ten years old :-) Nevertheless, I've just
tried with one of the formerly troublesome locales. Things look
differently now, there's a choice for creating a new account (just
gandi.net) or using an existing one. With the latter, I've been able to
successfully configure a GMail box, so this can likely be closed.

[Bug 1531613] Re: rhc package isn't working

With Ubuntu 15.10 and rhc 1.35.4-3, rhc --version gives 0.0.0 and the
setup hangs after GET (...) /broker/rest/user. Uninstalling the package
(sudo apt-get remove rhc), installing the gem (sudo gem install rhc),
and clearing bash's paths cache (hash -d rhc) did work.

[Bug 284421] Re: GParted freezes after creating a NTFS partition

2012-01-07 Thread Wrwrwr
No problem at all. From what I remember the whole system had been
locking up on each try, but I had managed to partition the drive in the
end, probably using Windows installer before gparted. On the other hand,
the disk has died approximately half a year later and I've not seen
anything similar with newer disks / Ubuntus, so it may have been a kind
of a hardware problem (moreover, a firmware flaw was reported in the
Barracuda 7200.11 series -- Seagate was even offering free data
recovery).

[Bug 816510] [NEW] Missing /var/lib/nikto/docs

2011-07-26 Thread Wrwrwr
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 10.10, Nikto 2.1.4 (installed using Oneiric package, 1:2.1.4-1).

$ sudo nikto -update
...
ERROR: Unable to open '/var/lib/nikto/docs/CHANGES.txt' for write: 1 at
/var/lib/nikto/plugins/nikto_core.plugin line 1777.

Minor annoyance causing an error message at the end of updating. Sorry
for not checking using the pertinent Ubuntu version, might not even be a
problem in Oneric, but guessing that the directory would be still
missing. Creating the directory ($ sudo mkdir /var/lib/nikto/docs)
lets it finish the updating.

[Bug 284421] [NEW] GParted freezes after creating a NTFS partition

2008-10-16 Thread Wrwrwr
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gparted

During scanning all devices after creating a NTFS partition on a clean
SATA drive (Seagate Barracuda ST3500320AS) gparted freezes hard -- even
kernel magic does nothing. After a restart rerunning GParted or trying
to access any partition on the drive also causes a freeze.

Ext3 partitions on the same drive work (also created with GParted),
removing the NTFS partition using command line parted makes them
accessible again.

Logs don't seem to show anything relevant.

Tried a couple of times with different BIOS settings, msdos and gpt
labels, nothing works.

[Bug 276341] Re: Flash drive problem, Kubuntu 8.04

2008-10-07 Thread Wrwrwr
Citing some other thread: The error means the computer is unable to
communicate with the flash drive. There was no response to a Get-
Device-Descriptor request within the timeout limit..

This may be a bad cable or some other hardware problem, there is one
report of a hard disk with cable select jumper set causing such errors
(but I don't suppose your flash has any jumpers :). One proposed
solution is removing one driver and hoping the other (low speed
ohci_hcd) will work:

sudo modprobe -r ehci_hcd
(should ask you for password)

[Bug 276341] Re: Flash drive problem, Kubuntu 8.04

2008-09-30 Thread Wrwrwr
A BIOS update means replacing some firmware on your motherboard: usually
you check the producer of your motherboard, visit their site and in some
support section look for BIOS updates and a manual for the given model
(one of sites having more info: http://www.wikihow.com/Update-Your-
Computer%27s-BIOS). This would maybe solve this flood mentioned above,
so maybe improve efficiency or avoid some crashes and other problems.

For the command be sure to have the flash plugged in, note that this may
lead to data loss on the drive, so make a backup first (using Windows or
another machine). Also, the disk might have been mapped to a different
device, look for FAT: Filesystem panic (dev sdb1) in dmesg output and
if it says something different than dev sdb1 update the command.

[Bug 244110] Re: python2.5-dev cannot be installed

2008-09-29 Thread Wrwrwr
According to:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python2.5/2.5.2-2ubuntu5 python2.5
version 2.5.2-2ubuntu5 was in hardy-proposed from 2008-05-07 to
2008-06-30, but got deleted, so if you've updated during that time
you'll have to do it yourself ;)

Downgrading through synaptic's force version doesn't work (why?).

Couldn't this be resolved somehow, maybe simply by increasing the
current package version, so the temporary one gets replaced? I don't
think it's strictly invalid maybe a won't fix OK, but still takes
some time to debug and resolve.

You've linked to an inexistent or hidden report?

After a closer inspection ActionPkgPrepare.run (in /usr/bin/pycentral)
doesn't seem to set default_runtime at all, so no surprise it's not set.
Copying a couple of lines from another action seems to fix the problem.

[Bug 174479] Re: radeon dri and blender in gutsy

2007-12-09 Thread Wrwrwr
I can confirm this one. This must be something about some new drivers,
because blender used to work fine on this machine.

Hardware:
Card: ATI Technologies Inc RV280 [Radeon 9200 SE] (rev 01)
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 2800+
Chipset: nVidia Corporation nForce3 250Gb
(There are some more similar reports in different places about all with radeons
9200 9250.)

Software:
Ubuntu 7.10, x64.
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI R200 20060602 AGP 8x TCL
OpenGL version string: 1.3 Mesa 7.0.1
Blender 2.44 and 2.45 with Python 2.5.1.

A discussion on freedesktop.org pointing which mesa versions work and which
don't:
http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg32485.html
(You can find a patch there, but only solving the crash not the black square,
not really helpful.)

Attaching a screenshot and a backtrace.

[Bug 151365] Re: Autosave doesn't work for Unsaved Documents

2007-10-10 Thread Wrwrwr
Yes i can confirm that on gutsy (with enabled autosave option). To
reproduce: open gedit, type a few characters and wait, kill it after
some time. Seems it won't ever save anything.

I've run it with strace and, as far as i can tell, gedit never attempts
to automatically save a new file.

** Changed in: ubuntu
   Status: New = Confirmed

[Bug 149106] Re: package cupsys 1.3.2-1ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite `/usr/share/doc/libcupsys2/CREDITS.txt', which is also in package libcupsys2

2007-10-05 Thread Wrwrwr
As a temporary fix, wouldn't just holding the package (force version)
for a second be better? Unless you need the new version urgently of
course. Worked for me ;)

[Bug 145886] Re: gmail entry missing in thunderbird account wizard on non english locale

2007-09-30 Thread Wrwrwr
Sorry, a correction is needed, under en_GB it doesn't show too. Some
more extensive list of when it is present and when not:

Shows:
en_BW, en_HK, en_US, en_ZA
he_IL
hi_IN
zu_ZA

Does not show:
en_GB
es_ES, es_MX
fr_FR, fr_CA
it_IT, it_CH

Thunderbird doesn't seem to be in launchpad translations anywhere, so
can't check if it is just a missing string. Users may be confused if
applications behave differently depending on the locale.

[Bug 145886] Re: gmail entry missing in thunderbird account wizard on non english locale

2007-09-30 Thread Wrwrwr
That's right. The test procedure was to just install support for many
languages and go on logging in with a different language for session and
starting (newly installed) thunderbird.

What do you mean by upstream package? What i'm saying applies to the
newest gutsy package. I can get an even newer build from the official
site (same version number though) and everything works with it (there
are always five entries). But this is not a package but a standalone
thunderbird.

Neither the program prints any warning nor the logs contain any sign of
a problem.

I'll try to attach some screen shots, wish me luck ;)

[Bug 145886] gmail entry missing in thunderbird account wizard on non english locale

2007-09-27 Thread Wrwrwr
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunderbird

Gutsy. Thunderbird version: 2.0.0.6-0ubuntu4.

When i change system localization to spanish or italian gmail disappears
from account wizard. It is present (and seems to work) on en_gb system.

Thunderbird downloaded from official site also has gmail in this wizard
whatever the language is.

Some discussion with some screen shots can be found here:

[Bug 3731] Re: Xorg resolution falling back to 640x480 and/or 800x600 when h/v freqs incorrect

2007-09-16 Thread Wrwrwr
Gutsy, LG Studioworks 57i is not recognized correctly resulting in
[EMAIL PROTECTED] :) mode. This fortunately falls back to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Running displayconfig-gtk and selecting generic monitor solves the
problem (this very model is not in the database).

Same log. Crashes when changing to other languages too. Also the text
field does not appear and causes segmentation fault when just quitting.
