[Bug 2067287] Re: WWAN INTEL XMM7560LTE does not works

2024-09-10 Thread Fabrice Boyrie
The 8086 unlock script is a merge request in the modemmanager git

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mobile-
broadband/ModemManager/-/merge_requests/1141

The "PORT open refused" is still here, even with latest git modemamanger

From the bug reports, instead to correct ModemManager they want to hide
the rpc interface for intel XMM 7560 in the iosm module.

[Bug 2067287] [NEW] WWAN INTEL XMM7560LTE does not works

2024-05-27 Thread Fabrice Boyrie
Public bug reported:

I have a DragonFly HP G4 laptop with this modem and I am unable to use the 4G
modem.
In the log I see
kernel: iosm :57:00.0: PORT open refused, phase A-CD_READY
kernel: iosm :57:00.0: ch[6]: confused phase 3

May be linked to
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=217200

Moreover I can not find the unlock script for this modem even if it exists

(But even if I put it myself, the unlock script is never run, because no
devices are created)

Could you help me ?

[Bug 2064077] [NEW] Overridding Left and Right do not work

2024-04-28 Thread Fabrice
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I just installed Ubuntu 24.4 and set my favourite keyboard shortcuts.
I want to use Super+Left and Super+Right to navigate between workspaces. I
disabled the "split view left" and "split view right" which I don't like at
all, and set "Move to workspace left" to Super+Left and "Move to workspace
right" to Super+Right.

I rebooted the computer. Despite all of that, Super+Left still does the
"split view left" thing, and ditto for Super+Right.

How can I get those keyboard shortcuts to do what I want?

Thank you,

  Fabrice

also build a GTK 2 version of the program.

[Bug 1866870] Re: KVM Guest pauses after upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04

David: Indeed ! How stupid I am. I missed the root cause inside QUEMU log file.
This was clear enough...
error: kvm run failed Device or resource busy
This is probably because your SMT is enabled.

So I switch SMT (Power Simultaneous Multi-Threading) off and now it's
OK; VMs are running and installing.

It had been years since I last touched KVM on Power and I lost my reflexes.
So please forget my precedent comment telling I had the same issue on Power
platform. It was similar symptoms but not the same problem.

[Bug 1866870] Re: KVM Guest pauses after upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04

2020-06-04 Thread Fabrice Moyen
Same issue here. I've upgraded my IBM Power ppc64le system to ubuntu 20.04. Now
I'm trying to create KVM VMs and whatever I'm doing, the VM is created but
before any installation step starts, it's falling into "paused" mode. When
trying to resume it, I get:
"
Error unpausing domain: internal error: unable to execute QEMU command 'cont':
Resetting the Virtual Machine is required
"

Any workaround ? Do I need to reinstall Ubuntu 18.04 ?

[Bug 1880864] Re: networkmanager IKE VPN connection causes DNS leak

2020-05-27 Thread Fabrice Meyer
As a workaround, I placed the following script in
/etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d/02-vpnupdown location. It will restart
systemd-resolved service everytime you bring up a vpn connection
allowing to use as current dns the one provided by the vpn. I tried to
send a SIGRTMIN+1 signal to systemd-resolve to flush dns server but it
randomly have the desired effect by cli but never by a script triggered
by a vpn-up event from network-manager. On vpn-down event, dns
configuration is fine so I won't restart the service to avoid restarting
it too often.

Hope this will help someone while this issue is being fixed.

#!/bin/bash

STATUS=$2

case "$STATUS" in
'vpn-up') systemctl restart systemd-resolved;;
esac

[Bug 1880864] [NEW] networkmanager IKE VPN connection causes DNS leak

2020-05-27 Thread Fabrice Meyer
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
Release:20.04

network-manager:
  Installé : 1.22.10-1ubuntu1
  Candidat : 1.22.10-1ubuntu1
 Table de version :
 *** 1.22.10-1ubuntu1 500
500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Connecting to a IPSEC IKE VPN does not update correctly update systemd-resolve
dns parameters: DNS provided by the VPN tunnel is seen by systemd-resolve but
not use to resolve dns queries resulting to a DNS leak. I tried to play with
network manager priority which as no effect: default setting seems to be fine
as the dns provided by the vpn appears on top of dns list provided by
"systemd-resolve --status" result bellow.

I found out a way to get it working by restarting systemd-resolve
service after the vpn connection is established. I think (pure
speculation, I don't know how systemd-resolve works) systemd-resolve
evaluate which dns use, the one provided by the vpn is the first one
then it decide to use it. This evaluation should be triggered when
tunnel is bringed up.

Bringing up an IPSEC IKE VPN does not create a new interface, it will
use the same used by the default network interface where is configured
the gateway. I think a fix would be to find out a way to triggered the
dns election of systemd-resolve to update the "Current DNS Server".

Maybe it is a bug with systemd-resolve but as I don't know how
everything work together, I choose to report this here.

You will find my network manager config for this particular ipsec tunnel
bellow.

[Bug 1874996] Re: no menu, filter and preference in thunderber since update to ubuntu 20.04

2020-05-02 Thread Fabrice Boyrie
My answer by email did not worked.

I do not have any access to preferences (no menu at all), so I can not disable
extensions.
But I can remove the extensions in the profile directory. It is not enough.

I have finally solved the bug, creating a new profile, copying back the mails
and editing the prefs.js to restore mail and calendar accounts.
Afterward I have reinstalled all my thunderbird plugins.

Everythings works now, but it is not an easy way.

[Bug 1726355] [NEW] Files cannot be moved from the desktop.

2017-10-23 Thread Viale Fabrice
Public bug reported:

PROBLEM 1
I'm selecting a file on the desktop.
I'm moving it to an open nautilus window.
The cursor takes the form of a hand.
The file is not moved.
The cursor retains its hand shape.
Nautilus remains usable.
Firefox is no longer usable (the cursor is no longer present).

PROBLEM 2
Similar actions, alternative results.
The file move behind the Nautilus windows, staying on desktop, but at a
different location.

Solution for unlocking problem 1:
use gnome-tweak, desktop parameters
deactivate icon on desktop.
reactivate icon on desktop.
Problem solved
Behavioral solution:
Use the Nautilus tree structure to move files from the desktop to other folders.

I have deactivated all the gnome extensions. Rebooting and the control
center launch normally... So it's a workaround, before I isolate what is
exactly the problem and possibly the extension (if only one is
implicated).

[Bug 1683271] [NEW] webGLSL: "return" ignored in "if"

2017-04-17 Thread Fabrice Neyret

This bug occurs in web GLSL ES since WebGl2.0 , on firefox and chrome.

in some configurations (probably: divergent branches with only some having a
"return"), "return" in "if" is ignored.
see simple proof case here: https://www.shadertoy.com/view/MsScDm
(this is also the cause of several existing shaders no longer working since

[Bug 1667444] Re: Failed to start lxd container because it is already running a start operation

2017-03-08 Thread Fabrice Moyen
I did more tests. In fact, it is working fine when the node where you
want to create a container is in 16.04 (Xenial). When the node is 14.04
(trusty), it is failing. I can see it is trying to build a Xenial
container onto a trusty OS node.

Hereunder an extract of juju status command where you can see the two
cases:

Machine StateDNS Inst id Series AZ
45started 10.3.89.152 76k7qptrusty default

[Bug 1599309] [NEW] grub efi amd64 could not be installed in /target -- no bootloader installed -- unusable install

2016-07-05 Thread fabrice nicol
Public bug reported:

UEFI install of grub on /dev/sdc. Target partition is /dev/sdc2. Disks
/dev/sda and /dev/sdb have windows partitions and there is a Windows
bootloader beyond the MBR. Linux Mint Betsy on /dev/sdc1.

No other specifics, except for a high def graphics install (3840x2160)
on an NVIDIA driver. This caused a probably unrelated crash of plasma
that was reported to the kde bug reporting platform.

[Bug 783220]

2015-04-12 Thread Fabrice-b
A sidenote about the *E2GPSCTL parameters. According to thinkwiki, the
3rd parameter may be used to activate the DGPS feature. However, when I
set this value (AT*E2GPSCTL=1,5,1 for example), I notice that :

1/ the stream is refreshed every second, and not every 5 seconds (as it
works when just setting AT*E2GPSCTL=1,5)

2/ some spurious or blank lines, not starting with $GP are interleaved
in the regular NMEA stream (from /dev/ttyACM2). These lines look like
the characters of the end of previous NMEA sentences, quite strange.
Firmware bug?

3/ no DGPS information appears in the NMEA $GPGGA sentences, even after
a 3D fix is successfully obtained. According to
http://aprs.gids.nl/nmea/#gga the DGPS information should appear in the
last two fields of the $GPGGA string. But I may be in a location where
DGPS stations are out-of-reach.

So, at the difference of the wiki that suggests to setup the GPS using
"AT*E2GPSCTL=1,5,1", I prefer to use the command "AT*E2GPSCTL=1,5"
instead.

mbm: add GPS location gathering support

This patch add gps support for mbm devices, mainly inspired by the
huawai similar plugin. The interval between two batches of NMEA
sentences is set arbitrarily to 5 secs with a #define (ModemManager
updates the gps location every 30 seconds on dbus, so it seems to me
there's no need to request nmea data too frequently). The mbm device
particularity is that the gps nmea device ttyACM2 must receive the
command "AT*E2GPSNPD" before starting to emit data.

[Bug 1307778] Re: getent group on trusty returns only local groups

2014-09-16 Thread Fabrice Bongartz
For all those stuck with this issue. There's a real alternative to winbind,
sssd. The following guide should get you started:
https://fedorahosted.org/sssd/wiki/Configuring_sssd_with_ad_server
Using the "realm" command is especially easy.

Once a getent passwd administra...@domain.name returns something useful, this
can easily be integrated with samba, without using winbind. The smb.conf should
then include
   security = ads
   realm = GE.LAN
kerberos method = secrets and keytab
in its [global] section.

[Bug 1307778] Re: getent group on trusty returns only local groups

2014-09-12 Thread Fabrice Bongartz
Sorry, the "I" before the [Global] section in my previous comment is of course
a typo, it should not be there.
To futher get a bit of context here: I had this server running without problems
on ubuntu server 12.04 and upgraded to 14.04.1 LTS using do-release-upgrade.
This is when getent group stopped working. So I guess something has changed in
winbindd_idmap.tdb?

I also switched from he old idmap syntax which is now deprecated:
   idmap uid = 1-2
   idmap gid = 1-2
to the new syntax:
idmap config * : backend = tdb
idmap config * : range = 16777216-33554431

When doing this, the id mapping get "reassigned", so you'll have to change the

I actually fixed this by doing the following steps:
# service smbd stop
# service winbind stop
# cd /var/lib/samba
# mv winbindd_cache.tdb winbindd_cache.tdb.backup

# service smbd start

then
# getent passwd
and

both worked!

[Bug 1173483] Re: dhclient segfaults on interfaces it can not handle

2014-06-12 Thread AVAUX Fabrice
The problem exists in version ISC 4.3 but it does not generate segfault but a
message : Unsupported device type 512 for "ppp0" in syslog.
The problem has been solved by a patch in fedora
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=626514).
It is a problem of implementation by ISC because it is the normal way using
DHCP with ipv6 on ppp (https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/rfc6204/).

Workaround : use the wide DHCP package, it is old but it is working !

[Bug 411358]

2014-03-12 Thread Fabrice-neyret-6
Are you sure this condition is meaningful ?
- gnome is not the only WM. Is the problem related to gnome only ?
- people are free to install the tools they want. E.g. most people I know
desinstalled Unity to get a more standard interface. -> we have to be sure that
a bug is obsolette even for installs differing to "Ubuntu fresh out of the box".

Moreover, I understand that the bug was due to both an abnormal
"emission" by the lib and a lack of proper testing by thunderbird. Why
not treating first the side that is most reachable ?

thanks,

[Bug 1224528] Re: python-wxgtk2.8 missing wx.media in ubuntu 13.10

2013-10-29 Thread Fabrice Coutadeur
** Description changed:

- Upgrade to ubuntu 13.10 (saucy).
- Also, python-wxgtk2.8 from "2.8.12.1-11ubuntu4" upgraded to
"2.8.12.1-14ubuntu1".
+ Upgrade to ubuntu 13.10 (saucy).
+ Also, python-wxgtk2.8 from "2.8.12.1-11ubuntu4" upgraded to
"2.8.12.1-14ubuntu1".
  But missing this fle:
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/wx-2.8-gtk2-unicode/wx/_media.so.
It is wrong when import wx.media.
+
+ [Impact]
+ This is a regression and even if 70 packages depends on python-wxgtk2.8
(according to apt-cache), I don't know which ones are impacted (maybe none in
the repository). If any of the affected can add that info, that would bring
more value to the update.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ 1- launch the python interpreter with the following command: python
+ 2- try to import wx.media with the following command: import wx.media
+ 3- this bring the following error: "ImportError: no module named media"
+ The import does not fails with the 1.1 package
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ Comparing the resulting package with original one only gives 3 differences:
+ - python files for wx.media lib
+ - real changelog instead of a link to libwxbase2.8-0's one. This may be an
optimization of the builders that I don't have locally
+ - an additional dependency on libwxgtk-media2.8 for python-wxgtk2.8
+ Also, we are just adding something back that was there before the merge, thus
the regression risks seem pretty low

[Bug 1224528] Re: python-wxgtk2.8 missing wx.media in ubuntu 13.10

2013-10-18 Thread Fabrice Coutadeur
Hi,

This was intentional, but to be honest with you, I should have created a
"python-wxgtk-media2.8" package for the dependency on media instead of
dropping it completly.

For Ubuntu, it should be enough to disable the patch disable_media_python.patch
and rebuild the package to have a working python package.
I'll check later today if it works and if it's ok, upload a -proposed package.

Title:
ubuntu freezes when hitting backspace or tab

Status in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I just just upgraded to 8.04 yesterday. What happens is that if I open
a terminal window and hit the tab key or backspace key the whole
system freezes. ctrl-alt-del doesn't work. I have to turn the power
  off.

This happens also if I don't login to gnome but go directly to tty1
(ctrl-alt-F1), login and hit tab or backspace.

However, luckily for me since I don't know how to downgrade, this only
happens if I choose kernel 2.6.24-16-generic when I start the
computer. If I choose 2.4.22-14-generic I can hit tab and backspace
all I want and the system just keeps on running fine. I don't even
know the difference between the two, so for me it's the same. However,
someone might be interested in why this happens.

  I upgraded from Gutsy 7.whatever (I don't know). I'm running on a LG
  LM70 Express.

Here is the procedure for the output of the attached dmesg-file.

  I restarted my computer,
  chose kernel 2.6,
  hit ctrl-alt-F1,
  logged in,
  hit backspace (everything froze),
held down the powerbutton for a poweroff,
  started the computer
  hit ctrl-alt-F1, logged in
  dmesg

ps. I accidently posted this on
  http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=4841746&posted=1#post4841746
but I learnt that launchpad is the more proper place for posting of this sort.

[Bug 411358]

2013-01-30 Thread Fabrice-neyret-6
Hi guys. I came here BTWof the author of a linkifyer extension for thunderbird.
I must say I'm a bit afraid by what I read in this discussions.
- '+' IS a legal character for files in unix.
- svn+ssh: IS an extremely important url for developpers (+ forges often go
with mailing-lists).
- I might be naive, but this bug sounds to me as the classical forgetting to
protect a string by "" despites it might possibly contains spaces or special
characters (important for FS pathes as well as plenty other kinds of strings).
- It seems unreasonable to me to decide that the problem will end with the new
UbuntuLTS:
  - gnome3 has plainty of problems and bugs, and it is likely that "real
computer" (ie, not tablets) user will replace it by anything else, eg, gnome2.
  - existing code might still be used under 12.04LTS (some people in CS,
research and engineering do have to ensure backward compatibility, sometimes
even for binaries).
  - I guess many people will stuck with 10.04LTS even after march.

As I understand it from this discussion, there are 2 identified bugs: one in
gnome2 (the probably forgoten "") which must be fixed by this community, and
one in thunderbird (about the popup - or before thunderbird, about the error
status) for which the thunderbird community just have to release a built using
--disable-gio .
Any of the 2 solutions is sufficient to fix the problem, even if it would be
better to fix both.

-> could you please do this thunderbird release, and forward the gnome
bug to the gnome community ? thanks.

FabriceN (Unix user since 1986).

[Bug 1088287] Re: [needs-packaging] New upstream version w/ major updates/fixes

2012-12-10 Thread Fabrice Coutadeur
Hi,

When updating a package, you need to review the patches, to check if
they are still current or valid. In this case, the patched file is
either missing or has been moved to another place: you need to
understand what the patch does and find how to do the same thing as
before, if it's still relevant.

Cheers,

[Bug 1088287] Re: New upstream version w/ major updates/fixes

2012-12-10 Thread Fabrice Coutadeur
Hi,

To update the package, the easiest way, IMHO, is to run the following commands:
- get the source with apt-get source fceux
- get latest tarball by running uscan --verbose from inside the source directory
- Apply the diff to the new tarball with the command: uupdate ../
- Change to the new directory: cd ../fceux-2.2.0
- Review the changelog in debian/changelog
- Build the source with debuild -S
- Testbuild the new version

If you prefer, I can take the action and work on it by the end of the
week.

Thanks,
Fabrice

  * New Maintainer.
  * New upstream release. (Closes: #647843)
- Restores the ability to download new lists of films automatically.
 (Closes: #681680)
  * debian/control:
- Remove superfluous build dependency on quilt.
- Remove recommendation for mplayer-nogui because mplayer has replaced
it nowadays. Now either VLC or MPlayer are the recommended video players.
- Fix typos in the package description. (Closes: #625704)
- Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.4, no changes needed.
- New dependency libcommons-lang3-java replaces libcommons-lang-java.
- Remove dependency on librome-java because upstream discontinued the
  support for podcasts.
- New upstream requirement for the build system is Ant >=1.8.0.
  * debian/rules:
- Remove quilt flag for dh to be in line with debian/control changes.
- Change the CLASSPATH accordingly to the changes in debian/control.
  * Ant build system:
- Switch to the new Ant build system provided by upstream.
- Replace add-ant-build-xml.patch with 01_modify_ant_build_system.patch
  which adjusts the CLASSPATH environment.
  * Update README.source and describe the steps to obtain the upstream sources.
  * Update debian/copyright to the machine-readable copyright format 1.0.
  * debian/mediathekview.1:
- Update the man page and remove entries of options which are unsupported
  at the moment.
  * debian/mediathekview.doc-base:
- Replace mediathekview.pdf with Anleitung.pdf.
- Add this short manual again because now upstream provides the source
  for it. (Closes: #630219)

Hi,

It builds fine, but I'm not able to switch to this theme: did you check
that it works in Quantal?

[Bug 1066206] Re: missing utility epub-meta

2012-10-13 Thread Fabrice Coutadeur
Hi,

you're right: it has been renamed some time ago to ebook-meta. Reporting
to Debian, as it's our upstream here.

Thanks,

Fabrice
