[Bug 1678306] [NEW] Touchpad on HP Pavilion x2 12 doesn't work
Public bug reported: A new installation of ubuntu zesty (beta) on a new "detachable" laptop (ie you can pull the screen off of the keyoard and use as a tablet). The keyboard part has a touchpad integrated. The touchpad doesn't work though. I found this: https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2323564 and when I - add "hid_generic" to /etc/modules - add "blacklist hid_rmi" to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf - echo 3 06cb 7d29 4 | sudo tee /sys/module/hid_generic/drivers/hid\:hid-generic/new_id then the tablet works with single finger motion and left and right click. Can this be supported out of the box? All the attachments should relate to the "out of the box" status in which the touchpad does not work. Let me know if I should attach some logs with hid_rmi blacklisted, or something else. [Bug 1652424] Re: libertine-launch manpage needs to be updated to better explain its usage
The intent is to have a shell to use command line applications that are installed inside the container, like git or gcc and have access to my documents with these tools and have access to any results produced by these tools from the regular touch system. E.g., consider the following: libertine-launch -i vivid bash cd Documents git clone user@server:project ./project now open Libre office and open that document that's in ~/Documents/project/foo.odt work on it export it as a pdf now switch to dekko and write that email where you attach foo.pdf I thought that libertine-launch IS the proposed way how a regular user would get command-line access, because a) the exec command is hidden and b) it doesn't mount things like ~/Documents -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1652424 Title: libertine-launch manpage needs to be updated to better explain its usage To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/libertine/+bug/1652424/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1604062] Re: too easy to trigger the apps switcher / spread on desktop
I'm using a Nexus 7 tablet. Previously (around the time this bug was raised) I ran rc-proposed. Right now I have OTA-14 stable. Sometimes I use the tablet with external mouse and keyboard. When this bug was raised I was sharing the sentiment. With a mouse I often triggered it unintentionally. But there were also times where I did want to trigger it, but failed. I moved the mouse to the right, saw the spread come up, assumed it was fully triggered and started moving the mouse left again towards whereever I wanted to click, only to realize that the spread wasn't /fully/ triggered but only in some preview state and moving left would immediately collaps it. So I had to retry. Nowadays, I still sometimes trigger the spred even though I don't want to and sometimes I don't trigger it fully even when I want, but both has become less. Maybe it's just my muscle memory learning it, or maybe there has been some finetuning recently?! As for the suggestion to disable the edge gesture (mayben when no touch is present, or when a mouse is present). I guess it would be an option, but I think I might actually miss it. I tend to /stick/ to an input device for a period of time. Meaning when I'm typing, I will most definitely switch with Alt-Tab and not reach away from the keyboard to the mouse. Similarly when I am scrolling around with my finger on the screen I would dislike if if I /had/ to reach over to keyboard or mouse for anything. And also when I'm leaned back, surfing through some websites using the mouse, then I don't want to use anything else than the mouse to switch back to my news reader or music player. In those cases I find it quite nice to have the spread available when using only the mouse. It would be /possible/ to switch applications with the laucher on the left, but I do prefer the spread on the right. Bottom line of all my babbling, while it isn't perfect yet, it is a complicated story with many aspects that should be balanced and a /quick fix/ of /just/ turning it off without touch might be too simplistic. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1604062 Title: too easy to trigger the apps switcher / spread on desktop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1604062/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1622157] [NEW] swiping to move forward/backward
Public bug reported: currently you have to tap on the video/timeline bar to get to a later/earlier point in a video. it would be a nicer user experience to navigate with swipe gestures rather than by tapping. like swipe right over the video surface to fast forward. the further/faster i move the finger the faster it should fast forward. vlc on android does this very nicely. [Bug 1523070] Re: Plasma session does not start after upgrade to Kubuntu 15.04
Today, I couldn't manage to log in at all, also not with the Ctrl-Alt-F1 startkde workaround, I tried a view things, an older kernel that was installed, but that didn't help. What finally worked was to use the "(upstart)" version of the current linux kernel available via grub. This produced the lightdm login and then I could do the Ctrl-Alt-F1 startkde workaround. From there, I upgraded to 15.10. Now I'm back to the original problem. lightdm login comes up, logging in doesn't work, the Ctrl-Alt-F1 startkde workaround works. ** Summary changed: - Plasma session does not start after upgrade to Kubuntu 15.04 + Plasma session does not start after upgrading Kubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1523070 Title: Plasma session does not start after upgrading Kubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-desktop/+bug/1523070/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1523070] [NEW] Plasma session does not start after upgrade to Kubuntu 15.10
Public bug reported: I just upgraded to Kubuntu 15.10. There were no problems during the upgrade itself. After the reboot I see the new login screen (sddm, used to be lightdm before the upgrade). I can enter my password but then nothing visibly changes. The screen still shows the login screen, but nothing can be clicked. On some occasions there is one change: the mouse cursor changes to an X. I can go to Ctrl-Alt-F1 and login ok. I have removed some old user configurations: mv ~/.kde dot.kde.old mv ~/.config dot.config.old rm -rf ~/.cache then rebooted and tried again, but the result is the same I have switched back to lightdm: dpkg-reconfigure lightdm then service sddm stop service lightdm start but the behaviour in lightdm is basically the same. I can enter the password then only the lightdm background is visible anymore and nothing furhter happens What I see now is that after sddm or lightdm are in this post-password-nothing-happens-anymore state, I can go to Ctrl-Alt-F1 and do: export DISPLAY=:0 xlogo back to Ctrl-Alt-F7 and the logo shows ok. In fact, it seems I can even do startkde and the session comes up ok and now everything appers to be running fine. [Bug 1077590] Re: fullscreen mplayer / smplayer should prevent screen dimming
In the meantime I found this: add a line like this in your ~/.mplayer/config: [...] heartbeat-cmd=dcop kdesktop KScreensaverIface enable false /dev/null dcop kdesktop KScreensaverIface enable true /dev/null http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailaid=3582607group_id=185512atid=913573 but dcop is history. [Bug 1077649] [NEW] usb ports not working since upgrade to kubuntu 12.10
Public bug reported: since the upgrade to kubuntu 12.10 my usb ports are not working properly anymore. i can use a device that is plugged in while booting or is plugged in shortly after booting. if i plug the device in a bit (seconds?) later the device is not detected and nothing shows in /var/log/syslog. similarly as soon as i unplug/replug or suspend/resume the device is not detected. the attached dmesg shows the follwing experiment 1) boot (until [99.4] ) 2) wait a couple of seconds 3) plug in external mouse, nothing happens 4) perform the follwing commands from second [923] onwards (i think that 1a.7 and 1d.7 are my two usb ports) echo :00:1a.7 /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/unbind sleep 5 echo :00:1d.7 /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/unbind sleep 5 echo 1 /sys/devices/pci\:00/\:00\:1d.7/remove sleep 5 echo 1 /sys/devices/pci\:00/\:00\:1a.7/remove sleep 5 echo 1 /sys/devices/pci\:00/pci_bus/\:00/rescan 5) plug in mouse in front usb port, works, unplug 6) plug in mouse in back usb port, works 7) suspend/wakup 8) mouse doesnt react 9) unplug/replug mouse, works ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 Package: linux-image-3.5.0-17-generic 3.5.0-17.28 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-17.28-generic 3.5.5 Uname: Linux 3.5.0-17-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.6.1-0ubuntu6 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: peter 2902 F pulseaudio CRDA: country DE: (2400 - 2483 @ 40), (N/A, 20) (5150 - 5250 @ 40), (N/A, 20), NO-OUTDOOR (5250 - 5350 @ 40), (N/A, 20), NO-OUTDOOR, DFS (5470 - 5725 @ 40), (N/A, 26), DFS Date: Sun Nov 11 16:11:37 2012 InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-02-08 (276 days ago) InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Release amd64 (20111012) MachineType: Apple Inc. [Bug 1034808] [NEW] sync-ui should require gnome-keyring
Public bug reported: I'm new to syncevolution. I just installed sync-ui. Started it. Tried to set up my onemediahub account and upon saving I got a message: Sorry, failed to save the configuration. In the console from where I started sync-ui an error is printed: ** (sync-ui:2553): WARNING **: Error in Session.SetConfig: Try to save password in gnome-keyring but get an error. Error communicating with gnome-keyring-daemon So I close sync-ui. I do apt-get install gnome-keyring . Start sync-ui, repeat the set up and now I can successfully save. So I suppose that installing the package sync-ui, should automatically pull in gnome-keyring. PS: Of course, an alternative to installing gnome-keyring would be to allow sync-ui to work with kwallet, or whatever the kde thing is called. PPS: http://lists.syncevolution.org/pipermail/syncevolution/2011-February/002201.html seems to describe this problem, but there was no solution posted. [Bug 876641] Re: screen goes blank after changing resolution
it seems that the backlight gets turned off. i can use the increase screen brightness button on the keyboard to turn the screen back on. similarly via sysfs: cd /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/ sudo chmod a+w brightness xrandr -s 1 ; grep -H . *brightness ; sleep 3 ; cat max_brightness brightness ; grep -H . *brightness actual_brightness:0 brightness:0 max_brightness:494 actual_brightness:494 brightness:494 max_brightness:494 with this, the screen is black for the 3 seconds and then is turned back on. takilaci, does that also work for you? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/876641 Title: screen goes blank after changing resolution To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/876641/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 222779] Re: XGalaga: Key pad and sound do not function on latest version of Hardy Heron
Im using kubuntu 11.04 and im also not hearing any sound from xgalaga not even when using padsp. maybe i havent full understood everything yudai said but i tried the following: $ xgalaga -window -keyboard xgal.sndsrv: Couldn't open DSP /dev/dsp $ padsp xgalaga -window -keyboard xgal.sndsrv: Couldn't open mixer /dev/mixer so yes padsp makes a difference : it fails on /dev/mixer instead of on /dev/dsp, yet i still cant hear anything. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222779 Title: XGalaga: Key pad and sound do not function on latest version of Hardy Heron -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
