Is there ever going to be a fix for this? Everytime I have to attached
a picture from a file full of pictures I have to go to my file browser
first and make a mental note of the file name. Then when I attached or
upload the picture I have to choose based on remembering the filename.

I have the same issue. I'm using Gnome classic desktop. When the
window is maximized and focused I cannot click the metacity buttons. It
will actually effect the window behind it. This has been happening
since I upgraded to the newest release.

It seems to be caused by virtualbox. When I reboot it works. After
running a virtual machine in virtual box the power management and screen
saver do not function.

Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction to fix this?
I've had ubuntu on this computer for 3 years and never had an issue
until I upgraded to lucid. Should I try installing another version of
the display driver?
Thanks,
wes

After upgrade to Lucid my screen saver doesn't work
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xorg
I upgraded my system and now the screen saver doesn't work. Normally,
after being idle for 10 minutes my monitor would power off. Now it does
not. I've gone and turned every knob in power management and nothing
has worked.
Please help.
Thanks.

I agree with Thorsten. Panel themeing has been a complaint for years.
If you use the panel properties to add a background image or turn on
transparency you lose the panel buttons.
Adding the background using the pixmap image is not a robust solution.

Light-themes: panel-background isn't
See attached screenshot for a close up of what I'm thinking.
Note the help button pictured. There's a dark 1px border surrounding
the entire button. Then there is a lighter 1px border giving the button
the appearance of having thickness. Then inside that is the gradient
fill.
The dark panel
Here's a screenshot of what I'm referring to. the gtk stuff I post may
still need some fine tuning, but the the idea is that for dark buttons
they need a lighter outline rather than a darker one. It makes them
stand out better.

this is a bit better.

THe scrollbars use pixmaps and do not accept custom colors via the

In the dark ambiance theme the panel buttons are black while their

Try something like this in the gtkrc

Here's a patch that would make this theme more functional. This could

How about a couple pixels worth of thickness that are transparent. This
way the metacity themes won't have to be bulky.

There's no excuse as to why this has not yet been implemented with either Gutsy

This method isn't very good. The panel buttons disappear. The best way is to
include a pixmap in the gtkrc for the panel background.
I noticed in the Gnome 2.24 objectives is to include themeing of the
panel which I assume becomes part of the gtk engine and gtkrc.

The original bug suggested an extra transparent area added to the width
which is a good idea to keep things functional and clean.
