Hi Danny,
Could you actually test the newer Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 release -
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download . Additionally, linux-
backports-modules-jaunty contains an updated compat-wireless stack which
might be interesting to test as well if the issue remains. Thanks.

Ciao Leann
and thank you for your note.
I feel the bug was depending on the wi-fi alarm system which is
installed on my house in the country : by the way only Ubuntu had got
that problem not any other PC nor my same Samsung Q45 booted in Windows XP.
For avoiding the problem in Hardy I go
Hi Danny,
It looks like you reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any recent activity. I'm curious if you have been able to test the more
recent Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release and if this is still an issue? For
now I'm going to migrate this bug forward to the actively developed

Thank Richard
for your assistance, it has been a pleasure dealing with you : you've
been clear and very helpful.
Sometime in the UBUNTU world you do find people who are just like I
suppose they might be in Microsoft ( if any assistance should be there )

I looked over the log files that you provided and it appears that the
network card is being recognized, but not initialized... I probably
will have multiple requests for log files on this issue, thank you for
your patents...
Could you provide me with the output of lshw and lsusb -vvv
Thanks,
You mentioned you can see other access points with this network card
right? Is there a possibility that the access point is setup a little
differently... If your able to see other access points that gives me a
pretty good idea that the card is working right, and it might be an
issue with that
Hello Richard
Thanks again for your support.
Something strange happend right today : I have decided to use an
external NETGEAR USB WI-FI adapter and magically the Networkmanager

The two routers at the house in the countryside are completely not
protected so therefore I don't think there is any encryption problem.
Here in Florence the NETGEAR is protected by a WPA encryption but
the INTEL works fine.
I think your idea of the not-initialization is probably more

I think there is enough information here to prove that there is an issue
with the iwl4965 driver... You have done quite a bit of trouble-
shooting on your end (which I appreciate) and it doesn't appear that we
can do anything configuration wise this kind of issue (detecting some

Sorry but I can't understand which repository : I had no proposal from
any of the command I did run.
Can you tell me please which would be the repository to add ?
Have a nice weekend
Thank you

I see that it's recognized by the kernel, but doesn't fully
initialize... Could you please try upgrading your kernel to 2.6.24-17
(which I believe is the current) and let me know if your having the same
issue? There have been a few reports about this network driver with
previous kernel
