Hello Chen,
Works for me! Thanks!!
Just one (small) addition: So to fix this, add with superuser
permissions hid_logitech_dj to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules instead of
/etc/initramfs/modules.
For example:
sudo su
gedit /etc/initramfs-tools/modules
Then do sudo update-initramfs -k all -u
And
Maarten, thanks for all your work - your youtube video gave me the clue
that it had something to do with certain modules not loaded during
bootup.
How do we get what we've found out into the distro?
When I tried using kubuntu 12.04 live CD, the keyboard doesn't respond
during the bootup process
Found the answer:
In kernel 3.2 and 3.4 (but not 3.0), the module hid_logitech_dj is
needed for full support of the unifying receiver. This module is not
loaded into the ramdisk for our keyboards to work during the bootup
process. I'm surprised that this bug hasn't been more prominent.
So to fix
No, I didn't find a sloution yet. I didn't install the mainline builds
(had no time to do, pretty busy with other things), but thanks that you
did K. Chen. I will change the bug status again.

I tried the mainline builds. The same problem still exists.
Other things I've tried - reinstall plymouth, plymouth-theme-kubuntu,
plymouth-theme-kubuntu-text.
I get the feeling that this is more of a configuration issue. As the
original posts have mentioned, USB support does exist after

Unable to enter password to decrypt harddisk after upgrading to
I have the exact same problem and I have not found a solution yet. We
both did 11.10 to 12.04 upgrades (in my case, I used kubuntu-alternate),
we both use logitech unifying receiver/keyboards.
I am able to successfully enter my password and boot into linux when I
used a kernel from 11.10
Don't know exactly what apport will add to this bugreport. See
