Hello Chen, Works for me! Thanks!! Just one (small) addition: So to fix this, add with superuser permissions hid_logitech_dj to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules instead of /etc/initramfs/modules. For example: sudo su gedit /etc/initramfs-tools/modules Then do sudo update-initramfs -k all -u And

Maarten, thanks for all your work - your youtube video gave me the clue that it had something to do with certain modules not loaded during bootup. How do we get what we've found out into the distro? When I tried using kubuntu 12.04 live CD, the keyboard doesn't respond during the bootup process

Found the answer: In kernel 3.2 and 3.4 (but not 3.0), the module hid_logitech_dj is needed for full support of the unifying receiver. This module is not loaded into the ramdisk for our keyboards to work during the bootup process. I'm surprised that this bug hasn't been more prominent. So to fix

I tried the mainline builds. The same problem still exists. Other things I've tried - reinstall plymouth, plymouth-theme-kubuntu, plymouth-theme-kubuntu-text. I get the feeling that this is more of a configuration issue. As the original posts have mentioned, USB support does exist after
