Same problem here, using dwm (from suckless.org), with Thinkpad T60p.

Strangely, though, the "echo 4 > /proc/acpi/ibm/cmos" cannot be manually

Proper suspend with 8.04 in a Thinkpad T60p with ATI FireGL 5250.
Takes about 7 seconds until the hard drive stops spinning and the moon
light stops blinking.
Resume is another story; takes about 10 seconds if one control+alt+F7 to
go to Xorg (otherwise up to 30 or more seconds!) -- but the moon
I do no longer own that powerbook G4. I donated it over a year ago.

I deinstalled most of the gnome-desktop to make space in my root partition and
now firefox runs, showing no problematic repainting of menus, but it complains
a lot and crashes. Apparently some settings of the gnome desktop are required
for firefox to work properly. See the printed errors below:
The problem right above was solved by removing the ~/.gtkrc-2.0 file
from my home folder.

so far no crashes. I can't use Inkscape or ethereal, for two examples,

powerpc dapper installation. After using evolution for 2 days, now it
crashes at startup and there's no obvious thing I can do to stop it.
After attempting to start evolution about 10 times, then no other app

I have this bug too. Dapper updated to latest. This is how I can
reproduce it:
- set kmail to check email every 10 minutes
- leave it open for a while (20-30 minutes)
- put the powerbook to sleep
- wake up the powerbook: kmail is stuck checking the "deleted messages" folder
of my IMAP accounts

More on the issue: as of today, every time the computer is rebooted one
has to manually

for firefox not to hang. The crashs is so bad the entire Xorg goes crazy
(in mmeory and chip usage) and one has to control+alt+F2 and login from
a tty and killall -KILL firefox-bin .

I have the same problem. I have noticed though, that when putting the
laptop to sleep from:
- the System / Quit... the eth0 NEVER disappears
- closing the lid: the eth0 disappears sometimes, seems correlated to whether
the network was up or not.

Same here. For feisty dist-upgraded to yersterday (April 10, 2007),
knetworkmanager fails to list the wireless networks. Three days ago,
though, knetworkmanager was listing the wireless networks just fine.
I have no problem in connecting manually with sudo ifup ath0 and a
proper /etc/network/inter

solves the problem. But there are others. For example, my session should
launch an xterm -it does so, AFTER about a minute an a half (this is a
core2 duo 2.33GHz Thinkpad T60p, and edgy did so in a split second).
Same with gnome splash: remains there forever, until clicked.
Yes: in the past I installed, used for a week or so, and then uninstalled with
--purge) beryl and Xgl.
I have tried to move .dmrc elsewhere to no avail. On relogin to a gnome
session, a new .dmrc gets created with a 'default' instead of 'gnome'

reconnecting to it.

Nautilus runs fine in all instances, except when attempting to change the
background with the following command:

Thank you! Finally! I knew it had to be some silly setting -dapper to edgy had
the same problem with gtk2 apps: some silly setting.
So I moved .gnomerc to the trash and finally my gnome desktop is working
properly.
The file ,gnomerc contained a dozen white lines and this one line:

I find out this is a different kind of bug. Apparently the kmail package
does not depend on the kdebase-kio-plugins package, and thus it can only
read imap mails, not pop mails, unless such kio package is installed
separately.
