I have verified this using a Samba share on an Ubuntu 8.04.1 sever and a
share using an XP SP3 server. (apparently, although I cannot test this,
it is OK on NFS).
Note that I did not get this problem 100% with a small text only odt.
It could be reproduced reliably with a 1.5MB odg document.

the big problem for me was getting my hard drive repartitioned because I
couldn't run gparted in the low resolution. If you remember, I was lucky
to find a Gparted live CD which had a wide range of video setup options.
There is a related problem with upgrading. I upgraded from dapper via
edgy to feisty. After the upgrade to edgy the splash screen did not
display and my HP vs17x monitor complained about the settings. However,
the login sreen displayed OK in my default 1024x768 resolution.

The result is my monitor gives the message "Input signal out of range -
change setting to 1280 x 1024 - 60Hz" and goes to sleep. So I don't

I have 'fixed' the problem.
Being ever the dabbler, I fired up System Monitor and tried to stop
PulseAudio - not allowed. I noticed NICE was -11. For no other reason
than I thought this odd, I reduced the priority to 0, and BINGO! - sound
devices are recognised - Input and Output - and
Well,its not as simple as that. I'm on my EEEPC (with Lucid on USB
stick). On startup, pulseaudio priority is 0 and there is no sound.
Nothing I do can get the sound to work, so I have followed the
instructions for a log and have attached it.

The work around in the Forum is OK, if you know about it, but there is
still a bug to be fixed here. As the forum says, it does not affect the
version you can download from the OOo website, but this is not a

upgrading to Lucid,
This behaviour is still the same in Lucid. It is reproduced with
1. Use Tools > Options... > OpenOffice.org > General > Open/Save
dialogue boxes and check Use OpenOffice.org dialogue boxes.
2. From OpenOf
This problem it improved in Lucid where the installer uses a smaller
window. However it still remains a problem with the partitioning
dialogue. There are no buttons at the bottom of the window of this
dialogue.

allow you to right click and Delete. F

I have deleted the Xorg.o.log because it was not the log generated on
re-boot after the distribution upgrade to Lucid.
In fact the boot does not get far enough to generate an Xorg log.
This means that it is probably not a duplicate of bug #562843 so I am
unlinking it from that bug as well.

Having had to redo my Live system on the USB key, this problem came
back. It looks like empathy tries to create a 'default' keyring and
sort of fails. Possibly because the 'default' keyring is already there
and new one is created called 'default2'. Then another one called
'default3', and so on.
Retested. No problem.

I have this problem - sound was fine after I downloaded Lucid Beta 1 and
loaded on my USB stick. Then a few days later I downloaded the latest
updates using Download Manager and there is no sound. In sound
preferences you can see the devices, but in the Input and Output tabs
they are not shown a
