Hello, I will try to update my Intel drivers too (if it's possible) and keep you update. Currently I have a similar bug (similar crash in pixman_region_copy) that crashes Xorg. @Bryan In that case; did you try my instructions Actually, really strange, the bug just disappeared. Even with the Intel graphics, I cannot crash X11 any more. Therefore, I cannot try that fix any more, either. I didn't even change anything, but here is what may have fixed the problem: My machine (Lenovo W500) has two graphics cards, Intel and ATI. I usually use Intel. To troubleshoot this issue, I changed to ATI (via BIOS). After changing back to Intel, the bug was gone from my system. I don't think the reboot did it, as I rebooted before, which didn't fix the problem. Maybe by booting with ATI, some X11 configuration files were changed, that for whatever reason prevented this bug from materializing, even after switching back to Intel. I have upgraded my video card and worked around this bug that way. Sorry, but I don't have time to reconfigure my system to do more testing on this. @Bryan, thanks for looking into this. I have an Intel 4500MHD. I tried to reproduce this with two other machines, one with an ATI and another one with an NVidia card, in both cases, things worked. Strangely enough, it also worked using the life CD. Funny, when I upgraded to 13.04 initially, I did so mainly because I wanted libre 4. I did the upgrade from an existing 12.10 install and was loving libre 4. But I wasn't sure tlp was giving me the same temperature control that jupiter used to (running a netbook with passive cooling), so I did a clean install of 12.10 (removing libre 3.6 and installing libre 4) and now I am having libre issues. I can open libre, but when I try to go to a menu (say, to save something or to go to tools in order to try turning off hardware acceleration), the menu appears, but contains no text, and eventually libre just crashes. Well, I just tried loading a .ppt file in LibreOffice. The application fonts were corrupted. When I resized the window (from max to restored), it hung the system. Assuming you have no important settings in LibreOffice I would suggest removing the previous configuration: 1. Close all LibreOffice programs (if open) 2. Open a terminal 3. After trying your suggestion, I had to cycle power to reboot (no other way to get control). I opened a .docx file and then a .xlsx file. The screen flashed several times, displayed the documents and then went dark and unresponsive. By the way, this was on a recently booted system with very few packages installed after installation. Personal files are on a separate disk, not mounted as /home. LibreOffice has failed liked this since 12.10. I can open from launch bar and create small files, but opening existing files most often causes system failure. The open source driver is even worse. Fonts appear corrupted, the screen is unstable, images jump around, unintelligible patterns overlay meaningful windows,... The Nvidia 304 drivers are most stable, but not perfect. Turning off hardware acceleration seems to have made LibreOffice more stable. Not sure, since I have only opened a few files, but it seems to be working. The webgl-conformance-tests.html page did indeed crash Firefox, after reporting some failed tests.
