please re-open, I have this same issue with a fresh install of Ubuntu
Studio 9.04 (amd64). I have tested with both usb and ps2 QWERTY and
mouse. As Mind0ne states, the mouse and keyboard cease to function at
the login splash - however all usb ports are still active, as a few of
my devices stay lit
Upstream, the kernel team is saying that it is a platform driver issue
or bios... sony is not supporting linux, so I think the only way to have
it fix before 2050 is to bring the nvidia driver to manage backlight
(also in /sys and /proc) so adding nvidia pkg to the report...

I only experience this issue when running Vmware Workstation 6.5.2,

I've noticed that the third issue (spurious red, green, and blue pixels
showing up in images) only appears after a successful suspend-resume
cycle.
I have upgraded to kernel 2.6.31-1.14, which still has issues #2 and #3.
I don't know whether screen blanking is still an issue, because I've

I see the same behavior on my Dell Latitude E6400 (with Intel graphics).
When booting kernel 2.6.31-1 normally, the screen stays black. The
system however comes up, as I am able to log in remotely via ssh. When
booting with the nomodeset parameter (KMS disabled) everything works
fine.

The reset to low touchpad sensitivity occurs in Kubuntu Jaunty AMD64 on
Macbook2,1 whenever X is restarted. Is there a console command that can
be added to a startup script?

Okay, I used synclient to check on the touchpad settings. While the
touchpad was in its insensitive state, FingerHigh had a value of 80.
This was the value in /etc/hal/fdi/policy/touchpad.fdi, though I don't
remember ever changing it. Changing this to a value of around 15 made
the touchpad
Probably a kernel bug - HAL doesn't know about the touchpad.

This is probably because some laptops have their touchpads appear as a
new device upon resume. I'd like somebody affected to try it in Karmic,
as syndaemon is significantly rewritten there.

useful for SHMConfig, which is now deprecated in favour of XInput
