Hi there.
Just to draw a line under the CPU0 isolation subject.
According to RPi kernel development this feature is no longer available.
What's happening?
At powerup CPU0 starts up first. The rest of the bunch launches a tick
later.
In between comes the isolcpus function. At that point in

I have also an issue with the power overlays in piCorePlayer 7. I use
the Pimoroni on/off-shim and when I push the button to drive the system
down it is driving down but not cuts the power to the pi completely. I
didn't have this in Version 6.1. There the power was successfully cut
completely

I have one idea how you can use a Pi 4 with a 2,5" HDD without power
problems. I didn't thought at this at first.
I am using this type of installation here for a Pi 4 which is used for
LibreELEC (Kodi installation) and two external 5TB
Thanks a lot. Feel confident now

Claus,
If you have a spare SD card then ... you could try to see if it works
for you under Raspberry Pi OS.
That would then show that it is possible with recent software.

I didn't change anything in function. But it's easy enough to test on
a old version of pCP.
A damaged GPIO is more likely the issue. (It's easy to do)

I'm just not sure it's documented anywhere what controls. But I would
not assume that the drivers in pCP7 (kernel 5.4) work. RPi doesn't
test drivers, as they didn't write the originals, if they compile, RPi
leaves them alone. It's really up to ApplePi to maintain the driver.
For example
Hi Paul (et al.)
Just to understand your last comment. Do you think that everything is OK
with piCorePlayer 7 and there's nothing to do, or are we looking at
piCorePlayer 7 to see if there's something amiss?

I think the complete list is in
drivers/media/rc/keymaps/rc-cec.c
from kernel source
(although I have installed a lot of stuff in diagnosing this so perhaps
something else put it there - e.g. v4l-utils dev package.
If I run
sudo cec-ctl --playback
(once per boot)
and then
sudo cec-ctl --monitor
I've made a bit more progress.
So after changing
Code:
sudo TSLIB_FBDEVICE=/dev/fb1 TSLIB_TSDEV=/dev/input/event0
/usr/local/bin/ts_test
into
Code:
sudo TSLIB_FBDEVICE=/dev/fb0 TSLIB_TSDEV=/dev/input/event0

I chose the only one
Probably any SSD should be ok but it's worth checking power consumption
before buying as they differ more than you would expect. Some that are
labelled "green" use more power than others not making that claim. No
real need to worry about performance.
I've used an Audiophonics Power Management Module (PMM) for over 7
months with a Pi3 + LMS. It's been permanently powered on and the power
switch only used a few times. It's used with the recommended power
overlays.
The first sign of something odd was that the Pi3 started to reboot
randomly
I would not try to power a spinning disk from the RPI. But a SSD should
not be a problem..at least on a Pi4.

Although not directly relevant to pCP ... the Raspberry Pi OS people
have agreed to include the change to the default config in their next
kernel (50.10) for all devices which is due in next few days/weeks.
Hopefully paul- has seen this and will put it into next pCP.
I spent a bit of time
Do not worry about the missing characters on the screen. It is a display
artefact and not your real problem - at least I think.
Try choosing a different, and in particular lower, resolution layout for
your screen and see if that works.

This is good news, and impressive progress. I'm looking forward to
being able to ditch my separate IR receiver on the RPi and to point the
remote at the TV instead.

You could buy a Pi and official power supply (and micro SD card if you
do not have one spare) - but without a case and try it out.
Then choose what to do later.

Thanks for the replies. My library is 108GB and currently is on my
netbook and backed up on a couple of other windows PCs. I don't have a
NAS and in reality play almost all my music via the spotty pluggin to
LMS and fill in the gaps from my library when Spotify catalogue is found
wanting. I have

I don't know how big your library is, but this case:
There are a few ways to get RPi and disk in the same case ...
For example - a 2.5" drive fits in this OneNineDesign case (I have no
experience of it)

Another way is to use a PC ATX case but check
Hi I'm currently running Logitech Media Server to some Chromecast Audios

thought a nice project would be to build a PiCoreplayer LMS server, Not
expecting any change in the end result of this other than less power
