No issues with HDMI, its just that RPI changed all of the device names.
in the latest kernel series.And if you want display and audio, there
is different settings.

Did an in situ upgrade on a pi zero and it worked well with the
exception of having to reset the alsa configuration, hdmi audio.
Out of curiosity, what is the issue(s) with hdmi audio? In my ignorance
I would have thought that the built-in interface would be the easiest to
use.

I'm trying to get a piCorePlayer running on a new Rpi 4b (4G) using the
internal wifi.
I installed 8.0.0 and it came up working as expected using an Ethernet
connection. I am able to see it on my LMS server and use the web page
interface. For now I am using the headset jack audio.

Those are all Realtek drivers. You can use their source. Or the similar
GitHub linked source for you chipset. Build instructions would follow

There are some Realtek product with built in support. And they are for
sure the cheaper products.
For 2.4ghz, there is still a wide selection. But the offering is much
smaller in the 5G realm.

The migration from v7 to v8 occurred flawlessly, however no chance to
get my USB Wifi card working.
After some reading on this thread I understood the end-user needs now to
recompile the kernel with the drivers
.. not really plug and play as it
used to be.

You can run squeezelite on Raspberry Pi OS, too. That's the component
dealing with the playback. You're not limited to piCorePlayer.

Pi with PiCore Player delivering the sound via I2C could be the basis
for a DIY hifi component,
and a web server which is controlling other things of the Hifi
Component.
Maybe its generally a better idea to go with a smaler httpd solution

pCP was designed to do one task, and do it easily. Ok, it does more
today. But it's not a general purpose OS. I'd say you better use
Raspberry Pi OS if you need a full fledged web server.

I have a PiZeroW running the new pCP 8.0, my issue is an extremely slow
response through ssh. Through the web interface everything is correct
and the music plays uninterrupted.
The response in so slow, I can't edit a file. I have to take the SD
from the Pi and go a SD-Reader in the laptop.

Hi just set up PCP for the first time on my raspberry pi. When Im
playing FLAC files it shows as FLC. I thought FLC was a video/animation
codec. Is there a setting to show the full file type?

-D is added if you select a DSD configuration.
-v is only added if you have jivelite installed on the local device, it
is for visualization (meters). If you are not running Jivelite, adding
-v on the custom options is doing nothing except using CPU cycles.

I-Sabre Q2M dac with the new pcp 8.0 (fresh install, no update). After I
had configured squeezelite, the hardware volume of the dac did not work
by changing volume on display or with justboom ir-remote. There was only

The kernel should be stored on a persistent drive. Can you plug in a

With the original pCP mmap=1 only worked in some circumstances, so the
default was mmap=0. Then for many years, mmap=1 worked for everything,

The device creating the share (which worked with pCP 7) is a Freebox
(France ISP).
lsmod does not list hmac or md5
sudo modprobe hmac does not find loads le module
sudo modprobe md5 ...
for me (Ubuntu 20.04.2), lsmod does *not* show hmac as a loaded module.
I tried installing a perl-hmac something but that had no effect. Not
sure how to get hmac loaded.
This is a new problem for me though at pcp 8.0 (all worked at 7.0.1).

Samba4 is a server, it has nothing to do with client connections to a
remote server. CIFS is the file system.
Between the note in dmesg, and the help that is in pCP, you should see
that you are missing the vers=x.x on the mount options. Where x.x is
the version supported by the remote.

Music plays fine. Samba not working though. Have updated extensions,
uninstalled samba4 extension, rebooted
