TIA I tarred and copied: - /var/lib/squeezecenter/prefs - /var/lib/squeezecenter/Plugins (some leftovers installed manually. not needed if only using extension downloader which is a better option) - /var/lib/squeezecenter/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins and installed that under the same locations for squeezeboxserver. Make sure you make a copy of the pristine prefs! Doing the above I had hosed my Customize Controller plugin. Extension downloader said the plugin failed to load. The solution was to put back the squeezeboxserver version of the preference for that (factory-installed) plugin. There are other threads on the subject. Maybe you want to check further. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] debian upgrade to 7.4
I've just update to 7.4 on debian stable have a few of the same issues( unable to scan any files ...) It seems as though the squeezeboxserver user group didn't get created properly, the directories were all owned by root. The install didn't create the group at all, but as a group with id 111 (lpadmin) already exists I guess that's not too surprising. I added a new group squeezebox id ,hacked the id of the squeezeboxserver user to , and reset the ownership of the install dirs. Now everything works correctly. I know it's a bit of a hack but it's got it all working. regards Richard -- richardsk richardsk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1350 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=68458 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] debian upgrade to 7.4
I've had no user creation issue on debian/lenny nor ubuntu/8.10. The install went fine. For the 2nd server I did copy my plugins and prefs from SC to SBS, and it went fine too. (1st one I did reinstall/reconfigure the plugins, that was a pain) I have noticed some plugins have issues, mostly minor. For me, the only one that is not ready to work (fully) is srvPowerControl. Upgrade process could have been simpler (changing the uid, really ??), but for me 7.4 works well and it is an improvement over 7.3. I have more questions around mySB, actually. -- epoch1970 epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=68458 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] debian upgrade to 7.4
haha. apt-get squeezeboxserver is the new thing. For me: - it has installed next to SC, - plugins were not migrated, neither any prefs (I did my 1st install w/ beta. I believe players prefs will carry on to SBS). For server prefs, I'd like to hear others but I think they are not migrated. - it starts and kill instances before launching. But my /etc/rc2.d/ still had S20squeezecenter. On another machine I had S90squeezecenter (due to the DNS bug in 7.3.3). So I removed the squeezecenter start link(s) manually. - the web interface seems much faster now. Migrating plugin prefs is a bit of a pita because some are only available when a player is declared to the server. Flip/flop servers (or change ports), flip/flop firmware versions on the player, copy-paste in the browser... -- epoch1970 epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=68458 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
