[libreoffice-users] [Libreoffice] Missing XHTML Writer File export filter on LibreOffice 3.5.0.2 for MS Windows?
Hi all, I have a problem with LibreOffice 3.5.0.2 for MS Windows which doesn't export to XHTML via UNO and also the export filter for XHTML is missing. Regina Thank you very for your prompt response, it works just as you said. So simple when you know how. I have tried to work with glue but to no avail. The dimension lines in Draw have no glue feature. But for first drawing you can enable Snap to Object Points. When the dimension line is drawn, you can group the object and its dimension line. Then a scaling will work on both together and the numbers on the dimension line will adapt to the new length automatically. [libreoffice-users] calc: paste special broken? (ver. 3.5.1.2)
I'm running a new install of ver. 3.5.1.2 on Kubuntu 11.10. It appears that the paste-special function, which I use constantly, no longer works like it used to, and this is a major annoyance. Old, expected behavior: 1. I copy an entire row in a spreadsheet into the system clipboard. 2. I select a number of cells in a column, at another location (or even adjacent to the row copied), to indicate the rows I want to paste the copied row into. 3. I right click on the selected cells, then click the paste special item in the popup menu, then the shift cells down parameter in the next popup window. RESULT: the selected rows indicated by the selected cells are pushed down, and their vacated space is filled with copies of the originally copied row. New, disturbing behavior: 1. I copy an entire row in a spreadsheet into the system clipboard. 2. I select a number of cells in a column, at another location (or even adjacent to the row copied), to indicate the rows I want to paste the copied row into. 3. I right click on the selected cells, and the popup menu simply does not contain a paste special item to select. Trying instead the EditPaste special menu item or Ctrl+Shift+v does absolutely nothing. Doing a paste-special into a single row works find. Multiple rows is not a possibility. The workaround: First insert blank rows (which achieves the desired push-down of existing rows), then just do a multiple row standard paste into them. The problem: this is a more involved, less direct process. Is paste-special broken in this version of LO, or is this the new way it's to be done? Thanks for any thoughts... t. -- For unsubscribe instructions e-mail to: users+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

[libreoffice-users] Re: LO 3.5: Cannot Access Writer Templates
Hi :) It is usually better to just rename your user profile rather than delete it. https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/UserProfile That way you can still access all your Extensions, Galleries, Templates and so on to copy them into the new profile a bunch at a time to find out which caused the problem. Of course if renaming the user-profile didn't fix the problem then you can always copy the whole thing back to reinstate your settings. If you want to upload attachments then it might be easier to use the Nabble interface. Just find the link to Nabble in this email or navigate to the right thread via the official LibreOffice website Get Help - Nabble - Users Then reply to any of the messages in the thread. Just above where you type in the message are a line of buttons. The one at the end is More which gives upload a file as it's first option. It places a link in the body of the message so that people that aren';t using Nabble can just click the link to see the image. Re: [libreoffice-users] LibreOffice Writer is erasing JOOScripts on save
Hi :) Hmm, i think the 3.4.x branch is better at the moment. The 3.4.3 is ok but the 3.4.6 is better. We are still having quite a few people write in to grumble about regressions or new problems with the 3.5.x branch. For developing it might be better to push people into using the 3.5.x branch so that we get more bug-reports that can then be fixed but i think it's better if sysadmins do the testing before rolling it out to normal users. Hopefully sysadmins have 1 or 2 people that are willing to test-drive newer releases alongside the more stable version they have in case things go wrong. I wonder if these guides might help witht he main questions here https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Publications#Corporate_Users In the Writer Guide, Chapter 10 is about Templates https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Publications#LibreOffice_Writer_Guide but it might be Chapter 15 that gives the result. [libreoffice-users] LibreOffice-created Word document won't open normally in Windows Vista
LibreOffice works great with Windows XP. If I create a document using LibreOffice, 'Save As' Word 2007/2010 .docx, then go to My Documents and double-click on the saved document, LibreOffice Writer will open the document perfectly. Not so with Windows Vista SP2 + all updates. When I create that same document in Windows Vista, then go the Documents folder and double-click on the file, all it does is bring up a 'Save As' dialog box and prompts me to save the document as a Word 2007 Macro-Enabled Document (by default, but I can choose anything from the list). If I do that, then double-click on the newly created 'Macro-Enabled Document' (or whatever), it brings up the 'Save As' dialog box again, and wants me to save it again, and again, and again. It won't open the document unless I right-click on it and choose to 'Open With', then navigate to LibreOffice Writer, each and every time, regardless of whether I chose to 'Always use the selected program'. Why? I'd like to be able to double-click on the newly created Word document and have it open normally just as it does with Windows XP. What do I need to do to correct this behavior? As an aside, I have also installed the Microsoft 'Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office System' update, but that does not affect LibreOffice in the least with Windows XP, it shouldn't with Vista either. -kd5- -- View this message in context: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/LibreOffice-created-Word-document-won-t-open-normally-in-Windows-Vista-tp3861270p3861270.html Sent from the Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Re: [libreoffice-users] LibreOffice-created Word document won't open normally in Windows Vista
Hi :) I think it's a problem with Vista rather than LibreOffice. A quick google search gave this thread http://www.vistax64.com/vista-general/79222-set-word-default-program.html Errr, there are probably some dodgy links in there that are well worth NOT clicking on! The advice is possibly what you are looking for tho Click the Vista start button. You should see a link in the start menu for Default Programs. This will open the Default Programs window. Look for the Associate a file type or protocol with a program. Click that link and you will see the Set Associations Control Panel applet. If you don't see this in your start menu, just type Default Programs in the Start Menu search box and it will show up in the menu above. Once you're in the Set Associations applet, scroll through the list to find the .doc, .docx and any other file types that you want to open in Word. Select each one in the left column, click the Change button, and then step through the Open With dialogs to select Word as the default program for these file types. You should probably include all of these for Word: ..doc ..docx ..dochtml ..docm ..docxml ..dot ..dothtml ..dotm ..dotx ..rtf ..wbk ..wiz Err not sure if this link is helpful http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows-vista/Change-default-programs-using-Set-Program-Access-and-Computer-Defaults I get the impression you already know about that sort of thing anyway, ie login as admin user before making changes like that. Errr, then you will probably have to do it for the individual user too. I managed to dodge Vista Ubuntu 11.0411.10 and will hopefully dodge Win8 too with any luck. Xp and Win7 are ok. Ubuntu 10.04 and 12.04 are better apparently, depending on taste. Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: LibreOffice-created Word document won't open normally in Windows Vista
Hi :) Making a stand and using Save As to convert documents from DocX to Doc also pleases users still stuck on older versions of MS Word as it saves them the expense of upgrading to 2007 or 2010 and the resulting retraining costs to use the 'lovely' ribbon-bar. MS carefully lobbied to have the DocX given ISO standards status but none of their products actually use that standard properly in their 2007 or their 2010 despite using the same name. This is reminiscent of the whole Rtf issue which resulted in court-cases that MS eventually lost or settled out of court or something. LibreOffice devs are busily trying to use the different formats used by MS Office 2007 and 2010 on their various platforms (slightly different for each apparently) but that is involving rewriting to make the implementation less like the ISO standard. So what you would see in content.xml after this happens, is text-input tags with no content, like this: text:text-input text:description=jooscript/text:text-input Open a bug report against Writer, with the detailed description you've given above and sample documents where we can compare the XML output of both (I know you've described it, but still, better to have an example). The problem that we may have is being able to confirm it without an identical setup to yours. [libreoffice-users] mail merge duplicates entries
Andreas, The query fix did work. While testing files to upload for the bug report it seems the work around is even easier. Once in mailmerge select any other table (query or even samples that ship with libreoffice) then select you table. Also if you don't care about the order if you do any sort or filter the duplicates are removed. So it seems the actual bug is when mailmerge first open the table duplicates occur but any filter, sort, or changing tables duplicates are gone. If you just print without select one of these options you do get the duplicates in the print out. I will be filing a bug report as I could not find this problem already listed. Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Labels for Avery Size 5267 are not properly formatted in LibreOffice 3.5.0rc3
Hi Peter, Peter Hillier-Brook wrote (27-03-12 11:40) ...but it's still based, illogically in my view, on dynamically generated frames, rather than the more obvious tables. Labels are tabular after all and this frame fetish has frustrated me for some years. For anyone interested, I made a set of tabular templates, both A4 and American Letter sizes some years ago and they have served me well. The only drawback is in replicating (or alternatively deleting) enough pages to meet output requirements. It would be a fairly trivial exercise to program this as a replacement for the frame based system. Thanks for your work on these templates. There is a nice advantage for the regular labels: the option to synchronise all labels with changes on the first label.
