[libreoffice-users] Re: "No Java could be found": LO 3.6.1.2: Win7 pro sp1; java 1.7.0_07

2012-09-30 Thread David S. Crampton
Base is now working with jre 1.6.0_30.

Left unsolved is why Java 7 update 7 doesn't work. Having 6 work is good
enough for me at this time.

Thanks to all,

You can install as many Java versions as needed to run your
applications, office components, databases, plug-ins and development
projects. Just don't ask me how to install many Javas on Windows.
Yes, Java6 is still maintained to work with tons of software that is not
compatible with the new shit. And yes, it needs to be 32-bit to be used
with this 32-bit office suite.

Geez, I'm feeling a right dunce on this. You were correct in that my
architecture is 64-bit. I uninstalled Java and then installed from
jre-7u7-windows-i586.exe as downloaded from filehippo.

Restarted machine. Still same behavior in Base. Yes in Tools | Options |
LibreOffice | Java there is only the one registered Java. In Windows Control
Panel | Programs is listed only 1 entry: "Java 7 update 7"

Should I revert to the java 6?

Thanks for your patience,

[libreoffice-users] Re: "No Java could be found": LO 3.6.1.2: Win7 pro sp1; java 1.7.0_07

2012-09-30 Thread V Stuart Foote
David,

Waste of time to dig into the XmlSchema Name space, a little dated but it
just works. But a reference is here:
http://docs.oracle.com/javaee/5/api/javax/xml/bind/annotation/XmlSchema.html

And here are the direct links to download from Oracle. *Either current
build*, JRE 1.6u35 or JRE 1.7u7 will work well. Although JRE builds from
1.7u6 onward include the Java Accessibility Bridge, v 2.0.3, if that is of
use to you.

http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre6u35-downloads-1836473.html

http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre7u7-downloads-1836441.html

Deleting the javasettings_Windows_x86.xml forces LibreOffice to rebuild per
user with a correct template. Each user then chooses what JRE to activate
from the LibreOffice Tools -> Options -> Java panel.

And, as Pedro notes, if you are on a 64-bit Win7 system you must install the
32-bit JRE and be sure LibO is using that executable. Only reliable way
I've found when both 32-bit and 64-bit versions is to add an entry in the
system path pointing to the 32-bit, coupled with a JAVAHOME. We have a
Wiki article for Java Access Bridge here:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Faq/Java that should have enough detail.

Stuart

2012-09-30 Thread Pedro
You just mentioned that you have Win7 but not the architecture. If your Win7
is x64 you probably installed Java x64, which is not compatible with
LibreOffice (because it is a 32bit program)

You should download and install Java x86 (32bit) and then possibly repeat
the steps in my previous mail (if it is not detected automatically)

2012-09-30 Thread David S. Crampton
Pedro,

Thank you. Your instructions are very clear. I did this. Same result.

I read the content of javasettings_Windows_x86.xml

It contains a line:
http://openoffice.org/2004/java/framework/1.0";
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance";>

I tried to go to "http://openoffice.org/2004/java/framework/1.0"; in my
(Opera) browser.

Got a redirection to "http://www.openoffice.org/2004/java/framework/1.0";
which displayed a customized Error 404.

Looks like Oracle/Openoffice has diddled the works. Is there a more recent
page for whatever is meant by xmlns?

David

[libreoffice-users] Re: "No Java could be found": LO 3.6.1.2: Win7 pro sp1; java 1.7.0_07

2012-09-30 Thread Pedro

1) Close LibreOffice
2) Goto %AppData%\LibreOffice\3\user\config\
3) Delete file javasettings_Windows_x86.xml
4) Open LibreOffice
5) Goto Tools, Options, LibreOffice, Java, check "Use a Java runtime
environment" and select Java 1.7.0_07 from the list (probably the only
option available)

Hope this helps...
