Yes, there were unofficially repackaged versions in the Microsoft Store.
They were not for free, so I never tested them.

Beginning with OpenOffice 4.1.11 we offer the official binaries in the
Windows 11 Store. Later Microsoft backported the store to Windows 10.

So, apart from downloading AOO from our website, you can install it from
the store or via Winget (commandline) as described here:

Thanks for looking!

I am interested if the article is really about our official offer:

All other (unofficial) versions are gone now...

One thing that comes to my mind: Could you try to disable the automatic
updates?

In menu: "OpenOffice - Preferences..."

Then: "OpenOffice - Online Updates", disable "Check for updates
automatically"

We had some reports that this function causes problems on Intel macs.

I just checked with the 0.4.0 release (7.3.2023). In fact I unpublished

For every release you can go to "More information" and there you can

This is different from publishing/unpublishing the extension site itself.

published!

I think only version 1.0.0 is downloadable, maybe you can try to add the
other releases again?

Sorry for the inconvenience.

I am not very familiar with it but maybe this is helpful for you:

I hope it helps.

Dies ist die deutschsprachige Mailingliste... ;-)

https://www.openoffice.org/de/download/

The reason why you cannot "self publish" are external links...

You wouldn't believe what kind of links people tried to publish there.
So it needs an admin to have a look and publish.

Yes, that page would need some updates. But because we lack of

Wunderbar!

Leider wird hierfür "Apache Lucene" genutzt, was Java voraussetzt...

Es gibt noch viel zu tun! ;-)

https://www.java.com/de/download/manual.jsp

https://www.wintotal.de/ueberwachter-ordnerzugriff/#Ueberwachter_Ordnerzugriff_in_Windows_10

Please see the Release Notes:

https://www.openoffice.org/de/download/

No, "Check for updates automatically" should be disabled to prevent

Just FYI:

The problem was the "controlled folder access" feature in Windows.

When it is turned on OpenOffice has no access to the user folders.

Alternatively you can download from:

Or, if you are a Windows 10/11 user, install from the Microsoft Store:

https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=128449

Yeah, spooky! ;-)

It would be easier to bring AOO42X forward, but we are lacking volunteers.

Meanwhile I try to cherry-pick useful things back into AOO41X.

If you move the Format toolbar just a little bit the Find toolbar will
become visible again.

I cannot reproduce that behavior in AOO42X, so it seems to be fixed.
If I am able to locate the changes I would want to cherry-pick it for
the next AOO41X release.

You didn't mention your OS, I assume it is Windows?

Oracle changed something, and you may now need the MS runtime mentioned
here:

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/AOO+4.1.12+Release+Notes#AOO4.1.12ReleaseNotes-ForWindowsUsers

I hope that helps!

sich da was verändert?

https://www.openoffice.org/de/download/

Note that you cannot install ANY classic Windows app on Windows 11 in S

Maybe this page can help you?

Apache OpenOffice is available in the Microsoft Store but it will not be

Make sure you have Java installed and configured in the AOO options.
Sometimes, when Java is updated it gets deselected.

(Of course, it should give a message instead of crashing)
