I recommend you do an engine-backup, clean up the os (yum update, ensure
proper ovirt repo for you version) and do engine-setup and restore.

Well, thank god for that! If it was running on more than one node at a time, it
would write itself to pieces!

But seriously, what´s the problem? What you´re describing is exactly how it´s
supposed to be:) And for what it´s worth, do yourself a favor and upgrade, 3.4
has been EOL for a looong time now.

Could you share the gluster mount and brick logs? You'll find them under
/var/log/glusterfs.
Also, what's the version of gluster you're using?
Also, output of `gluster volume info `?

AFAIK, this only affects OpenShift 3.10 and later.

I see there is a workaround
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1589629#c2

to add to ansible-inventory-origin-39-aio that is in your metrics
store machine at the root directory

Are you experiencing this in 3.9 ? The bug is open on 3.10.

[ovirt-users] oVirt Engine 4.1 with oVirt Node 4.2

2018-06-25 Thread stefanos
Hi,

I would like to know if oVirt 4.1 can manage 4.2 hosts just like RHVM does.

precisely, can oVirt 4.1 manage:
- an oVirt Node 4.2 with a cluster compatibility of 4.1?
- a CentOS host with 4.2 repo with a cluster compatibility of 4.1?

Thank you,

[ovirt-users] Re: Install hosted-engine - Task Get local VM IP failed

2018-06-25 Thread fsoyer

Well, answering to myself for more informations.
Thinking that the network was part of the problem, I tried to stop gluster
volumes, stop gluster on host, and stop bond0.
So, the host now had just em1 with one IP.
And... The winner is... Yes : the install passed the "[Get local VM IP]" and
continued !!

I hit ctrl-c, restart the bond0, restart deploy : it crashed. So it seems that
more than one network is the problem. But ! How do I install engine on gluster
on a separate - bonding - jumbo network in this case ???

Can you reproduce this on your side ?

Hi,

yes there is a solution described directly in the bug:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1521011#c20

The provided script worked only for cases that had the necessary
disks, but where the uuids were not written to the config files.

You need to follow the procedure from comment 20 when no disks for
lockspace and metadata exist at all.

Best regards

[ovirt-users] Re: trunked ports

2018-06-25 Thread Michael Watters
You should be able to use bonded interfaces with an IP on each VLAN
Interface for the ovirt hosts and the engine.  For example, here is the
IP configuration for one of our VLANs.

10: bond3:  mtu 1500 qdisc
noqueue state UP group default qlen 1000
    link/ether 00:1b:21:5c:80:39 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
    inet6 fe80::21b:21ff:fe5c:8039/64 scope link
   valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
24: bond3.311@bond3:  mtu 1500 qdisc
noqueue state UP group default qlen 1000
    link/ether 00:1b:21:5c:80:39 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
    inet 192.168.111.201/24 brd 192.168.111.255 scope global bond3.311
   valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
    inet6 fe80::21b:21ff:fe5c:8039/64 scope link
   valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever

bond3.311 configuration is managed in the
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-bond3.311 file.

IMO setting up bonded NICs with VLAN tagging is one area where ovirt
falls short.  You essentially have to configure your networks twice.
First using the /etc/sysconfig/network-interface files and then inside
of the engine itself.  VDSM may also need to be configured to use ifcfg
persistence in the config file.

cat files/vdsm/vdsm.conf
[vars]
ssl = true
net_persistence = ifcfg

[addresses]
management_port = 54321

Your switch ports also need to be configured to support 802.1q networking.

I see. Well, there were quite a few patches that solved a variety of bugs
in that area, not to mention a big change in the infrastructure that this
feature was implemented with, and therefore finding the relevant patches
and cherry-picking them would not be trivial.
So I would suggest you not to use the OVA export/import until you are able
to update to a more recent version.

[ovirt-users] Re: Cannot acquire Lock .... snapshot error

2018-06-25 Thread Enrico Becchetti

 Dear Friends ,
to fix my problem I've try vdsm-tool command but it's seem an error:

[root@infn-vm05 vdsm]# vdsm-tool check-volume-lease
Usage: /usr/bin/vdsm-tool [options]  [arguments]
Valid options:
..

as you can see there isn't check-volumes-option  and my ovirt engine is
already at 4.2.

Any other ideas ?
Thanks a lot !
Best Regards
Enrico

The issue is corrupted lease for this volume:

offset=115343360), err=(-227, 'Sanlock resource not acquired', 'Lease

This root cause is faulty merge code in ovirt < 4.1, creating volume
leases with
incorrect name. These corrupted leases were not detected until you
upgrade to
ovirt >= 4.1, because we started to use volume leases for storage
operations.

The fix is to run

    vdsm-tool check-volume-leases

This will check and repair corrupted leases.

Adding Ala to add more info if needed.

[ovirt-users] Re: Broker fails to start after upgrade 4.1 to 4.2 metadata_image_UUID can't be ''

2018-06-25 Thread Martin Sivak
Hi,

yes there is a solution described directly in the bug:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1521011#c20

The provided script worked only for cases that had the necessary
disks, but where the uuids were not written to the config files.

You need to follow the procedure from comment 20 when no disks for
lockspace and metadata exist at all.

Best regards

Martin Sivak

Is sdc your LUN?

here sdc is from the storage, sdd is from the linux based target.

No Output

You don't have any multipath devices. oVirt block storage is using
only multipath devices. This means that you will no see any devices
on engine side.

 > cat /etc/multipath.conf
# VDSM REVISION 1.3
# VDSM PRIVATE
# VDSM REVISION 1.5

You are mixing several versions here. Is this 1.3 or 1.5 file?
hm I didn't touch the file. Maybe something went weird during update
procedures.

# This file is managed by vdsm.
# [...]
defaults {
      # [...]
      polling_interval            5
      # [...]
      no_path_retry               4

According to this this is a 1.5 version.

      # [...]
      user_friendly_names         no
      # [...]
      flush_on_last_del           yes
      # [...]
      fast_io_fail_tmo            5
      # [...]
      dev_loss_tmo                30
      # [...]
      max_fds                     4096
}
# Remove devices entries when overrides section is available.
devices {
      device {
          # [...]
          all_devs                yes
          no_path_retry           4
      }
}
# [...]
# inserted by blacklist_all_disks.sh

blacklist {
          devnode "*"
}

This is your issue - why do you blacklist all devices?

By lsblk output I think you are running hyperconverge setup, which
wrongly disabled all multipath devices, instead of the local devices
used by gluster.

To fix this:

1. Remove the wrong multipath blacklist
2. Find the WWID of the local devices used by gluster
    these are /dev/sda and /dev/sdb
3. Add blacklist for these specific devices using

blacklist {
     wwid XXX-YYY
     wwid YYY-ZZZ
}

With this you should be able to access all LUNs from the storage
server (assuming you configured the storage so the host can see them).
Finally, it is recommended to use a drop-in configuration file for
local changes, and *never* touch /etc/multipath.conf, so vdsm is
able to manage this file.

This is done by putting your changes in:
/etc/multipath/conf.d/local.conf

Example:

$ cat /etc/multipath/conf.d/local.conf
# Local multipath configuration for host XXX
# blacklist boot device and device used for gluster storage.
blacklist {
     wwid XXX-YYY
     wwid YYY-ZZZ
}

You probably want to backup these files and have a script to
deploy them to the hosts if you need to restore the setup.

Once you have a proper drop-in configuration, you can use
the standard vdsm multipath configuration by removing the line

# VDSM PRIVATE

And running:

     vdsm-tool configure --force --module multipath

That solved it. Blacklisting the local drives however does not really
seem to work. I assume that is due to the local drives are virtio
storage drives in my case (as it is a testing environment based on
virtual Hosts) and they do have type 0x80 wwids of the Form "0QEMU
QEMU HARDDISK   drive-scsi1".

Thanks for your help!

  Regards
Bernhard

In EL7.6 we expect to have a fix for this issue, blacklisting
automatically local devices.

[ovirt-users] Re: snapshot going to locked state and stays with it

2018-06-25 Thread Ala Hino
When creating a snapshot, we do the snapshot until the operation is
completed.
The lock is performed in order to prevent executing operations that may
affect the snapshot creation.

I requested the log in order to see what went wrong and why the lock wasn't
released.

 Ok, thanks. Yeah, we had a bug that caused our own OVAs to be identified as
external OVAs and thus invoking virt-v2v. Please try with latest oVirt, there's
a good chance that is resolved already.

Seems you're trying to import the OVA file backup_server.ova but you provide

It doesn't work so well at the moment so better specifying the full path:

[ovirt-users] Re: snapshot going to locked state and stays with it

2018-06-25 Thread Hari Prasanth Loganathan

But technically could you let me know the reason for snapshot locked state?

Thanks,
Hari

There is a correlationId field, I marked below.
Can you please the following statement and send the output?

select command_parameters from command_entities where command_params_class
= 'org.ovirt.engine.core.common.action.RemoveSnapshotParameters' and status
= 'ACTIVE'

 Yeah, the conversion failed - we'll need the vdsm log and more
 importantly the import log from the host.

Seems you're trying to import the OVA file backup_server.ova but you provide

It doesn't work so well at the moment so better specifying the full path:

[ovirt-users] Re: Failed to delete snapshot '' for VM 'vmname'.

2018-06-25 Thread Ala Hino
I am looking for something similar to the following (in the value of
command_parameters):

  "snapshotId" : [ "org.ovirt.engine.core.compat.Guid", {
"uuid" : "d01a50fe-503d-4081-90d3-a71e464c5c6c"

Do you see this correlationId 91430fc5-284d-4c26-8d8d-b7bf4053a7e4 in any
command_parameters?

Hi Ala,

All vmSnapshotId fields are null.

Could it be that this could be solved by running what there's on comment
19 in [1]?

Back to command entities.
For each active command_parameter_class
org.ovirt.engine.core.common.action.RemoveSnapshotParameters, you will
find the command params in command_parameters column. One of these
params, is the snapshotId. You need to check whether there is a
snapshot with that Id in snapshots table.

restarting the engine, while the merge commands already manually
repaired, may cause that log message to stop appearing.

 Seems you're trying to import the OVA file backup_server.ova but you
 provide only the the directory in the "Path" field, right?
 It doesn't work so well at the moment so better specifying the full
 path: /rhev/data-center/mnt/import-ova/backup_server.ova

[ovirt-users] Re: Failed to delete snapshot '' for VM 'vmname'.

2018-06-25 Thread Ala Hino
I understand.

Back to command entities.
For each active command_parameter_class
org.ovirt.engine.core.common.action.RemoveSnapshotParameters, you will find
the command params in command_parameters column. One of these params, is
the snapshotId. You need to check whether there is a snapshot with that Id
in snapshots table.

Yeah, the conversion failed - we'll need the vdsm log and more importantly the
import log from the host.

Currently there are no merge related commands running, if you mean that
we're aware of some merge should be happening (it shouldn't). I
restarted the engine but the event is still showing up every 10 seconds.

Is it possible for you to restart the engine? I want to see if
restarting the engine, while the merge commands already manually
repaired, may cause that log message to stop appearing.

Do you have any running merge related commands now?
Is it possible for you to restart the engine? I want to see if restarting
the engine, while the merge commands already manually repaired, may cause
that log message to stop appearing.

Yeah, the conversion failed - we'll need the vdsm log and more importantly the

Seems you're trying to import the OVA file backup_server.ova but you provide
only the the directory in the "Path" field, right?
It doesn't work so well at the moment so better specifying the full path:
/rhev/data-center/mnt/import-ova/backup_server.ova

No, you cannot remove the events from this table.
You will have to check ACTIVE commands, and find those that are correlated
with the merge snapshots commands that failed and manually fixed.

Hi Team,

I took a snapshot using oVirt and it stays in the LOCKED state for half an
hour.

1) What could be the reason for this LOCKED state?
2) How can I recover from it?

Oh, sorry, I looked at a previous attempt.
Yeah, the conversion failed - we'll need the vdsm log and more importantly
the import log from the host.

I'd look into command_entites table in the database.
You will probably see several merge related commands that are not in

Seems you're trying to import the OVA file backup_server.ova but you
provide only the the directory in the "Path" field, right?
It doesn't work so well at the moment so better specifying the full path:

[ovirt-users] Failed to delete snapshot '' for VM 'vmname'.

2018-06-25 Thread nicolas

Hi,

We're running oVirt 4.1.9, recently we had an issue with snapshots so we
had to fix them manually. The issue is mostly solved but now we're
seeing a lot of events like this one:

Custom Event ID: -1, Message: Failed to delete snapshot '' for

Which generates the following event in the manager:

   Failed to delete snapshot '' for VM 'vmname'.

This event is being generated every 10 seconds, so it's kind of

Any way to remove it manually? It doesn't matter if it entails touching
