[ovirt-users] Workaround for https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1435207
Hi list, I think i have run into https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1435207. However last comment is from 2017-05-17. Since all vm:s on the host is getting unresponsive the only thing i can do to fix it is to restart vdsmd. That works for an hour or so but then all vm:s getting unresponsive again. Does anybody know if there is a workaround for this bug? Regards Christian ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users
[ovirt-users] Engine deploy tab is missing when restoring from db-backup?
Hi list, I have restored my 4.1 engine. After i have restored the engine the engine deploy tab is missing? And since it is not possible anymore to deploy thru command line i am not able to deploy new hosts? - Does anybody know a workaround to deploy new hosts? - Is this a bug or am i doing something wrong when restoring? This is how i restored: [root@ovirt-engine ~]# engine-backup --mode=restore --file=backup.tar --log=restore.log --provision-db --provision-dwh-db --restore-permissions Thanks! [ovirt-users] virtio-scsi drive order?
Hi list! When we upgraded our ovirt environment to 4.1 we get the virtio-scsi interface as default for virtual disks. We have seen a difference in drive order from when we used the virtio interface. Before when we added disks the order of the drives were set by which order the disks was created. So if i had 1 disk as os disk it became vda and added a 50 GB disk that disk became vdb and then added another 8GB disk that became vdc. But now when i add two additional disks with the virtio-scsi interface like the above when i reboot the vm the 50GB disk become sdc and the 8GB disk become sdb even that i created the 50GB disk first? How is the order decided in the virtio-scsi interface? What can i do to ensure that the disks come in the order that i create them? [ovirt-users] Extend disk in engine appliance in ovirt 4.1.0?
Hi, I have recently installed a new ovirt environment from scratch. The version is 4.1.0. I made a 90GB disk for the hosted engine. When i had installed it and log into the engine i see that it has only configured 10GB of those 90GB. So there is 80GB of unconfigured disk unused. That is fine as long as it had used lvm but it has not meaning i have to take the engine down to extend the disk? My questions is: 1. Why does it not configure all disk? 2. Why is it not using lvm? 3. What should i do to extend the disk? Regards Christian ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users

[ovirt-users] HE multipath problem.
Hi List, I have installed the hosted engine over iscsi but have a problem getting it to install over the multipath, even though i can see the multipath device from the host with multipath -ll. When i get to the point in the HE installer where i should choose the disk i only see the underlying devices like sdb sdc. So if i choose one of those it results in that it will only use one of the paths! My questions is: - Is there a bug in the installer script or am i doing something wrong? - I now have a running HE and would like to manually change the single path to dual, how do i accomplish this? I am running ovirt 3.5.6.2. Regards Christian ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users
[ovirt-users] OS versions?

[ovirt-users] Howto Remove Direct LUNs from ovirt hosts?
Hi list, I have a scenario where i want to clone production data to developer vm:s: 1. Create a snapshot from a direct LUN from a "production" vm in a ISCSI SAN from which i take snapshots (built in functionality in the disk array.) 2. Take the snapshot and attach it as a direct LUN in a "developer" vm in ovirt. 3. Mount it and let the developers work with the data. 4. After some time the developer says they want to refresh the data. 5. Unmont the disk and deattach it from the "developer" vm. 6. Remove it from multipath and remove the iscsi sessions. 7. Repeat all previous steps when developer needs "fresh" data. I have succeeded with most of the steps above using the ovirt API. However step 6 is not done automatically when i remove the direct LUN from ovirt? If i don't do this step manually i end up with a syslog with error messages from multipath and stale iscsi session which potentially can make ovirt storage fail. Here is my questions: Does anybod know: - Why is:nt there an API and a button in webui to remove the multipath maps and iscsi sessions? - Does anybody here has a suggestion of how to do step 6 from a script? (a hook maybe?) Thanks! /Christian ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users
[ovirt-users] Cluster policy question
Hi list! I am running ovirt 3.5.2 with 3 identical nodes. I am using the default cluster policy: "evenly_distributed" I am wondering how that applies? When i add new vm:s should'nt they be distributed according to the resources used on them? Should they not be live migrated automatically? For me it seems that all vm:s is started on one of the hosts and stays there? Is there something i am missing here? Thanks! [ovirt-users] Changing migration_max_bandwidth?
Hi list, Since i have a dedicated live migration network is there a problem to change migration_max_bandwidth to 128 MiBps for a 1Gb network? [ovirt-users] ovirt reports an Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2667 v3 @ 3.20GHz as a Intel SandyBridge Family?
Hi, I have registered a new DELL R730 machine in ovirt 3.5.6 this server type has a Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2667 v3 @ 3.20GHz. When i try to add a the new host to a cluster with a haswell architecure i get an error: "Host xxx moved to Non-Operational state as host does not meet the cluster's minimum CPU level. Missing CPU features : model_Haswell" When i look at the hardware tab on the host it says: CPU Model: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2667 v3 @ 3.20GHz and CPU Type: Intel SandyBridge Family This is not a SandyBridge Family processor? When i change the cluster to be a SandyBridge Family cluster the host can be activated. What are my options? - Is it a bug i can get a fix for? (I can't upgrade to 3.6) - Can i force it to report correctly? - What am i loosing in terms of functionality/performance if ovirt thinks its a SandyBridge processor? Thanks! /Christian ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users
