 Hello,

 has anyone stumbled into this situation, where sent mail recipient addresses
 are displayed as 'SMTP'? All my sent mail recipients are displayed as 'SMTP'
 except the letters that has been replied and I have re-replied.

[SOGo] Inbox not refreshing when no sort order is defined

2014-09-24 Thread Mark Madere
Hello,

I just discovered a small problem with a fresh install of the latest sogo
release (2.2.8). I setup sogo to work with postfix dovecot, and mariadb. I
created a test user and logged in. I sent a test message to the user from the
user. I clicked on sent and could see the message. I clicked on inbox and it
was blank. Then I went back to sent and it to was blank.

After tinkering with various settings I realized that there was no sort order
defined in the list view. Clicking sort by date instantly made the mails
appear. Now everything is working as expected. Is there a way to pre-define
the sort order globally in the config file?

Thanks,

Mark

Re: [SOGo] Merging diverged databases

2014-07-30 Thread Mark Madere
Sven,

I wish I could give you better advice than this:

- Do a sogo-backup on each user on each server
- Backup both databases
- Merge Databases
- If users complain restore from sogo-backup on a user by user basis.

What database system are you using? Have you considered a N-way multi-master
system like Galera with MySQL or MariaDB? In the future you should have at
least 3 database nodes to avoid the split brain issue that you now have.

Good Luck,

Mark

Re: [SOGo] some users cannot share address books

2013-07-11 Thread Mark Madere
Silver,

Share permissions are found in context menus for each address book/calendar.
Right click the book as the user who is sharing and select sharing. From there
you can add users, and set their permissions. You can even automatically
subscribe the other users to the shares by checking a box.

I hope this helps you,
Mark

2013-07-10 Thread Mark Madere
Is that documented behavior for SOGo? I have never heard of that before.

In any case you need to try to copy the records using a different method than
you have used before. This will help you determine if this is ui problem or a
permissions problem. So please right click a record or otherwise make the
context menu appear, the select copy, then choose a destination.

After you do that please tell me if it worked.

Re: [SOGo] SOGo autoconfiguration for iOS and OSX

2013-07-09 Thread Mark Madere
achim,

The /.well-known/carddav and /.well-known/caldav links are the default paths
used by Apple Address Book and iCal on OSX. In effect it will allow users to
enter only the server name in these applications, similar to the way
/principals works for iOS.

I use this in my SOGo.conf (http config):

Alias /.well-known/carddav /SOGo/dav/
Alias /.well-known/caldav /SOGo/dav/

I hope this helps your Mac users,

Mark

 Thanks for the docs,

 For iOS i have this in my apache config

 RewriteRule ^/principals/users/(.*)$ /SOGo/dav/$1 [PT]

 Only thing i have to enter with this on an iphone is server-name,
 username and passwort.

 What advantages does the .well-known redirect have?

 thanks in advance
 achim~

  I find it very important to make decentralized services as simple to use as
  centralized ones. SOGo is an important step in this direction. However, it
  turns out that users having to go through the setup steps for mail,
  calendar and contacts on Mac OS X and iOS are easily confused and
  discouraged.

  I decided to create a user-friendly web-based generator, where a user would
  only have to enter his name and mail address, and a configuration profile
  (.mobileconfig) would be returned, which would set all the parameters for
  you iOS or OS X device, so a fully configured client would be just a few
  easy clicks away.

  I did not quite succeed, as mail autoconfiguration on OS X is broken so
  hard, it seems impossible to work around (the other pieces of
  autoconfiguration brokenness can be worked around, see below). So, mail
  autoconfiguration is only supported for iOS. Calendar and Contacts work for
  both.

  Part of the workaround – unfortunately – involves the systems
  administrators, which, on the SOGo web server, need to redirect
  /.well-known/caldav and /.well-known/carddav to /SOGo/dav/ (note the
  trailing slash). As this is required for RFC 6764 compatibility, you
  probably were planning to do that anyway :-)

Re: [SOGo] Misunderstanding SOGo

2013-07-05 Thread Mark Madere
Hi Odhiambo,

if your users login with their full email address (i.e.: u...@host.com), you do
not need to set these parameters:

SOGoEnableDomainBasedUID
SOGoDomainsVisibility
SOGoLoginDomains

These parameters effect the login page only. You may exclude them from your
config.

You can name your domains anything you want in your config. I ran into a
problem having the top entry, SOGoMailDomain, and id the same. I currently use
this strategy:

-DOMAIN- = {
SOGoMailDomain = DOMAIN;
SOGoUserSources = (
{
id = public-DOMAIN;
}
);
};

here is a sample from my config:

-hooktest2.com- = {
SOGoMailDomain = hooktest2.com;
SOGoUserSources = (
{
CNFieldName = cn;
IDFieldName = mail;
UIDFieldName = mail;
baseDN = mvd=hooktest2.com,o=domains,dc=expanding;
bindDN = cn=Manager,dc=expanding;
bindPassword = *;
canAuthenticate = YES;
displayName = Share Users;
filter = (objectClass='MaxwellMailAccount' AND
accountActive='TRUE' AND delete='FALSE');
hostname = mail.X.com;
id = public-hooktest2.com;
isAddressBook = YES;
port = 389;
type = ldap;
MailFieldNames = (mail,description);
}
);
};

 I have installed SOGo on one of the many FreeBSD boxes that I manage and I
 am kinda failing to understand something when it comes to Multi-domains
 setup.

 Here are my clueless moments:

 First, my config is availavle here - http://goo.gl/lpKZk

 This is a virtual domains setup, with MySQL. Users authenticate with
 username@domain as userid, with their password.

 The following parameters confuse the hell out of me:

 SOGoEnableDomainBasedUID = YES;
 SOGoDomainsVisibility = ((domain1,domain2));
 SOGoLoginDomains = (domain1,domain1);

 (a) Since my users already login with full e-mail address as c_uid, I
 suppose SOGoEnableDomainBasedUID is not applicable in my case, right??

 (b) SOGoLoginDomains - this gives me a dropdownlist from the login page,
 but then I cannot just enter username (without the @domain), as
 authentication fails. Is this parameter expected to concat username and
 @domain selected from the dropdownlist, or where am I going wrong?

 (c) SOGoDomainsVisibility Parameter used to set domains visible among
 themselves. For what purpose is this visibility?

 When defining specific domains, can I use a shortname to introduce the
 domain, much like a placeholder, then define the full domain name in
 SOGoMailDomain, like below, or must I use FQDN everywhere?

 domains = {
   crownkenya = {
   SOGoMailDomain = crownkenya.com;

 .

[SOGo] From dropdown menu shows only one email address

2013-06-27 Thread Mark Madere
I just noticed something odd in the sogo mail interface. I have a login with 3
email accounts. The first is associated with the login and other two are added
via Preferences  IMAP Accounts.

If I compose a new email by pressing the Write button, the from email address
is set to the account that I have open. In other words if I have the inbox,
drafts, sent, or trash folder open for account A, then the from menu shows
account A's email address. This is expected behavior.

However If i wanted to send the message from account B or C, it would be
expected that I could switch addresses by selecting the desired address from
the drop down menu. However, the email addresses for the other two accounts do
not appear in the menu. This is not the expected behavior.

I upgraded yesterday to version 2.0.6a. I will upgrade to 2.0.6b tonight and
see it this fixes the problem. Can anybody confirm this behavior on other
versions?

Thanks,
Mark

 added via Preferences  IMAP Accounts.

However, the email addresses for the other two accounts
 do not appear in the menu. This is not the expected behavior.

 I upgraded yesterday to version 2.0.6a. I will upgrade to 2.0.6b tonight and
 see it this fixes the problem. Can anybody confirm this behavior on other
 versions?

 Thanks,
 Mark

 Hi Sven, Actually I am having a problem with PHP-Push-2; I configured
 config.php and email works fine but CalDAV and CardDAV doesn't.

 When I set  ('BACKEND_PROVIDER', BackendCombined);

 the devices fail to set up/initialise.

 However when I set define('BACKEND_PROVIDER', BackendIMAP); the
 devices set up but no calendar or contacts.

 Here is the config.php for caldav and carddav:

  // **
  //  BackendCalDAV settings
  // **
  define('CALDAV_SERVER', 'https://sogo.example.com');
  define('CALDAV_PORT', '443');
  define('CALDAV_PATH', '/SOGo/dav/%u/');
  define('CALDAV_PERSONAL', 'personal'); //Personal CalDAV folder

  // **
  //  BackendCardDAV settings
  // **
  define('CARDDAV_SERVER', 'https://sogo.example.com');
  define('CARDDAV_PORT', '443');
  define('CARDDAV_PATH', '/SOGo/dav/%u/');
  define('CARDDAV_PRINCIPAL', 'Contacts'); //Personal CardDAV folder

 Did you manage to get contacts and calendar working with PHP-Push-2 and
 SOGo ?

 Regards, Michael.

RE: [SOGo] Help needed, making a real admin tool for SOGO, needs commands.

2013-02-22 Thread Mark Madere
M,

I am not sure what you mean by public folders. But if you are referring to a
shared address book then SOGo can do that. My team shares several books which
are owned by one user. The users who are sharing the books can add and edit
cards.

I understand that you could survive with a non AD source for users. But I
still don't know of a one that comes with an admin tool except for the one that
I built myself. But my tool is not suited for your purposes.

 I see what you mean, we only really need 1 set of contacts (Not the active
 directory ones).
 It's a contact list, created in a public folder. That is then configured to
 be the main contact list on all machines with outlook.
 Forgot to ask if public folders are supported, that's the only single item
 that would be useful to create. We don't need to store emails or notes etc...

 We have hundreds of AD users that we don't care to see for other types of
 access, we just have 10 mailbox users. I don't want this machine to have
 anything to do with any windows machine. I'm eliminating dependencies so even
 if the entire domain goes down, outlook and it's mail authentication will
 keep rolling happily along. I know all too well that when anything goes wrong
 at the active directory/exchange level, it's not just a little problem, it's
 catastrophic and time consuming. This is my new strategy so that rebooting
 servers won't affect other servers for stuff that doesn't need that much
 integration.

2013-02-21 Thread Mark Madere
Greetings,

I have looked through all the posts on this topic and I would like to add my
two cents (, as we say in the US). I think many people commenting on this
thread misunderstand SOGo and ZEG.

From the ZEG download page:

The ZEG (Zero Effort Groupware) edition of SOGo is intended to provide a
complete out-of-the-box testing environment of SOGo, the Open Source messaging
and calendaring software.

From the SOGo home page:

SOGo is fully supported and trusted groupware server with a focus on
scalability and open standards. ... SOGo is the missing component of your
infrastructure; it sits in the middle of your servers to offer your users an
uniform and complete interface to access their information.

So what does that mean? It means ZEG is a virtual appliance to help you
understand how SOGo works so you can setup your own servers. It means that
SOGo is not a mail server. It is not a directory server. It is not a database
server. It means that it has no users to manage.

If you are looking to use a testing environment like ZEG as a production server
I think you will be disappointed that it lacks the features required for
production. If you are looking to build your own production server, then SOGo
can be a great component along side other components. The beauty of SOGo is
that it can be configured to work with many systems. And because of that there
is no way that SOGo can manage users from every directory/database/posix/etc.
server. It is up to each administrator to setup and manage their mail servers,
users accounts, databases, etc.. the way they want.

I hope this helps clarify what ZEG and SOGo are, and what they are not.

Mark

ps: If you are looking for turn-key solutions that includes SOGo, there are
companies that can help you with that. If you want to roll your own solution
and need help Inverse can provide you commercial support.

 I think you have explained what we all know very well and it is the problem
 we are trying to solve. We want to roll our own turn key solution.

 I don't know where open source software comes from or why. However I think
 it's significant that the components are free but putting it together into
 something someone can use costs money.

 I want to build servers for my customers and charge them money. However I
 don't mind freely helping people with what I have learned so they can build
 servers for their customers.

 If someone is making money from charging us server builders money so we can
 build servers, they are not going to be very happy if we figure out how to
 help each other for free. Hence why ZEG is not a full turn key solution. If
 it was an ISO it would be closer, hence it's a VM.

 I think I probably need to change my entire world view.

Hi Inverse team,

I have been working on a Mail Server w/ SOGo installer script for CentOS 5. I

Nightly versions from yesterday also worked with no problems.

I am attaching my sogo.log. Please let me know if you want any other info.

Re: [SOGo] How does the Domain Separation/Multidomain configuration work?

2010-09-08 Thread Mark Madere
Thomas,

The way I solve that problem is to use the full email address as the login. If
you have m...@domain.a and m...@domain.b and login just as mark SOGo will show
m...@domain.a. However if you set SOGo to login with full email address then
the users are unique and are picked up by the correct part of the config file.

Mark

Here is a piece of my config file. Note that my ID and UID is set to mail:

markmadere.com = {
SOGoMailDomain = markmadere.com;
SOGoUserSources = (

CNFieldName = cn;
IDFieldName = mail;
UIDFieldName = mail;
baseDN = jvd=markmadere.com,o=hosting,dc=users;
bindDN = cn=Manager,dc=users;
bindPassword = ##LDAPROOTDNPWD##;
canAuthenticate = YES;
displayName = Share Users;

accountActive='TRUE' AND delete='FALSE');
hostname = localhost;
id = public-markmadere.com;
isAddressBook = YES;
port = 389;
type = ldap;

Re: [SOGo] How does the Domain Separation/Multidomain configuration work?

2010-09-07 Thread Mark Madere
Thomas,

if your webserver is ony hosting sogo on port 80 then you do not need to
configure virtual domains. In the file /etc/httpd/conf.d/SOGo.conf you can
comment out the following lines:

#  RequestHeader set x-webobjects-server-port 443
#  RequestHeader set x-webobjects-server-name yourhostname
#  RequestHeader set x-webobjects-server-url https://yourhostname;

As long as your .GNUstepConfig is good this should allow users to login from
their own domain like mail.domain.a/SOGo or mail.domain.b/SOGo

Re: [SOGo] How does the Domain Separation/Multidomain configuration work?

2010-09-07 Thread Mark Madere
Thomas,

On my server, hosting sogo only for multiple domains, I had to comment out
those lines because it was changing my URL after login.

So it would seem that if your vhost file points the correct (sub)domain to
sogo, it will remain on that domain after login.

Hope this is more useful,
Mark

After you locate the sync source folder right click it to add sources.

Peter,

Iit seems like you listed everything that you need. As long as sogo can access
your LDAP server for auth and your IMAP server for mail you should be able to
make this work.

If you use LDAP address books users will not be able to edit them. You
mentioned funambol on the same line as imap. Funambol is not used with email
on sogo, only cal, card, task stuff.

Good luck setting it up,

 In SOGo, no record is really deleted. We only mark them as such so
 that synchronisation processes such as the one from Funambol can
 properly remove the deleted records from the client devices.

 Thus, if those records are missing from the quick table, you must have
 manually deleted them.

Re: [SOGo] sogo on esx vm : searching feedback

Hi Timothée,

I run SOGo on VMware Server 1.x and CentOS with no problems. I have
installed all the parts (IMAP/SMTP/LDAP/SOGo) on one virtual machine and
it worked fine. But my current VM setup is more scalable:

2 Email/LDAP servers - CentOS, Postfix, Dovecot, OpenLDAP and JAMM for
administration
1 SOGo server - CentOS, SOGo, Funambol and ejabberd (IM)
1 Firewall/Router - pfSense (BSD)

I host about 30 domains. One email server is for a reseller the other
is for everyone else. I can add additional email servers for more
resellers. I can setup a second SOGo server and assign domains if I
need to in the future.

 Noticing my fail, I went into the settings on the BB and corrected
 the item types, but the logs on the Funambol server still showed it
 looking for card, scal and stask. So I removed the User, Device, and

 re-create the User, Device and Principal, but it is still seeking
 card, stask, and scal.

 The settings on the BB still reflect the sogo-card, sogo-task, and

 I've seen that in the past and recently, I think it's a bug in the

 What I do generally is that I delete the card, stask, scal and I

Do i need to add a sogo user to both LDAP sources?

Thanks,
mark

Re: [SOGo] email from drop down list

2010-05-28 Thread Mark Madere
Thanks Hannes,

It is working with the help of MailFieldNames = (mail,description);
whereas description is the alternate email address.

I am using JAMM + Postfix + Dovecot and having multiple mail fields was
causing issues.

Is there any way to set one of the alternate email addresses as default?

 Haloo,

 will that work if mail is the uid is set to mail?

 Yes I think so, it just depends on Which address you add first.
